After her husband is killed in a hit and run Grace is attempting to survive her sorrow and guilt. The life she was hoping for was shattered in a split second but as she begins to go through his life she realises the life she had was not all it seemed. This started off really well but unfortunately then began to meander. Sadly it was quite boring until the end....but then just as it got going it was over! It wasn't difficult to work out what the twist was either so it didn't really benefit from any shocking reveal. Very disappointing.

I received a digital arc of #TellMeNoLies from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was the first book I've read by this author but it won't be the last! I was drawn in from the very start and it held my interest throughout. I enjoyed the switching between past and present day to give a fuller picture of the movements of the day of the anniversary. The author caused me to question Grace and her mental health throughout this book - how much of what she experienced was real and how much was hallucinations?

I have read a lot of this genre of book before but I didn't see the ending coming! Maybe I should have anticipated the final twist, but I hadn't. I will definitely be reading more work by this author in the future.

Tell Me No Lies by Alex Sinclair was a book that, on the outset, appeared to have a lot of potential. The story line was reminiscent of some thrillers that I have read, and the trope of "wife who didn't know her husband" is one that I have read frequently. The main issue that I had with this "thriller" is that the suspense seemed way too long to take place. I need a thriller to be fast-paced and move quickly. However, there were times when I felt like I was just reading a story that was wrongly categorized as a thriller. Because I read thrillers so often, perhaps I am overly critical or have just gotten to a point where I know what I want to see in a thriller. Maybe my expectations were too high. I think there was a lot of potential with this particular story, but by the time the suspense happened, I was too apathetic to really be invested in the outcome. Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a free e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Really enjoyed this book and read it in two sittings. I was surprised that it had some less than stellar reviews and ratings but maybe that's down to the not so realistic plot. Personally, I was drawn in right away and while Grace was a frustrating character at times, I feel that was deliberate to make the reader question whether she's completely paranoid and delusional or not. Liked the flipping of the narrative between the day and night of the incident and the present. It slowly builds up the tension and questions from the then parts - is Grace's recollection of the night really as it seems? Good twist towards the end. I didn't expect it, although it seems others saw it coming! Highly recommended and definitely looking forward to reading more from Alex Sinclair.

It’s Grace and John’s 5th wedding anniversary and they’ve just had dinner but then the unthinkable happens and she’s left a widow. So far, so good, but then it’s not until about the half way mark that the book picks up pace again. Pages and pages of whining, clinging Grace constantly falling apart and having to be babied along by her odd friend. I get that she’s distraught but she wallowed in it all the time. The book gets so much better when she finally gets a grip and starts looking into things. Told in then and now segments. I enjoyed the start and last parts but didn’t take to any of the characters though! This is the first book I have read by this author and would read another.

A bit far fetched but a decent domestic thriller. The best friend is a bit too ever present though. If you like the genre, give it a shot.

This theme of the husband dying and having a secret life is getting fairly common but this book has enough twists and turns to keep you very involved in the story. Grace and her husband John are celebrating their wedding anniversary when he walks out into the street and is killed by a hit and run driver. After his funeral she discovers a secret life insurance policy, thugs wanting a lot of money from gambling debts and a lot of inconsistencies . This is the first book by Alex Sinclair that I've read and it was a great pick for me. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for the ARC.

Good read that was tough to put down.

I read this book in one sitting because I had to know what was happening.

I thought I knew what was going on and then was thrown a curveball.

If you want a book to take to the beach or curl up on the couch with, check this one out.

I have tried to read this book several times. But something was missing to keep my mind captivated and wanting to read more. I’ve tried thinking what this is and I’m not sure if it’s because I just couldn’t connect with the main character. This is a “not for me” but am sure others will enjoy it.

The book had the makings of a great read but for some reason I found it a bit of a trudge. I nearly gave up on it a third of the way in but I was glad I hung in there as it improved. Good read but not as good in my opinion as his other books The Day I Lost You and The Last Thing I saw. That being said there are some good if improbable twists at the end

I found the book to be a good, quick read. The storyline was well thought out and written and had me hooked to the final twist. Would definitely read more from this author.

I hate giving bad reviews for books but I had no option with this. The premise sounded really good but did not live up to expectation I’m afraid. The main character of Grace was deeply unlikeable and the way she went on over the insurance forms and not believing he was dead annoyed me. The dialogue was clunky and stilted and the plot very repetitive. Nothing much really seems to happen throughout. I ended up skim reading it and there were no surprises in the plot twist or lack thereof. I saw it coming a mile off. Thanks to Netgalley, Bookoutoure and the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review, I’m only sorry it couldn’t have been more positive.

In the blink of an eye, Grace’s life changed forever. One moment she was celebrating her anniversary with her husband, then the next moment she was trying to work out how she was going to get through the rest of her life as a widow.
It was hard not to empathise with Grace as the situation she had been forced into, wasn’t exactly one she wanted to be in. She had just lost her husband, the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with, the man she thought she knew inside out…
I had an inkling where the storyline was heading once it became clear that Grace’s husband wasn’t who she thought he was, and I have to say that I did find that a little predictable so the surprise element wasn’t as strong as I would have liked it to be. However, there were a few surprises where Grace’s character was concerned which I was thankful for.
For me personally, ‘Tell Me No Lies’ is an incredibly promising read. The author has a unique voice when it comes to telling a story and I truly believe that, if all of the elements in the book came together in a stronger manner, my rating for this book would be higher. It had everything there to make a belter of a read, but i was just waiting for that bit extra.
Nonetheless, ‘Tell Me No Lies’ has grit needed for this type of book, and I was thoroughly impressed by the overall vibe of the book and the author’s unique story telling.
A pleasant, highly promising read.

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT
Didn’t want this book to end it had me gripped from start to finish I couldn’t put it down, so many twists that you couldn’t see coming.

This is our 3rd Alex Sinclair book. We were hooked with “The Last Thing I Saw” and then again with “The Day I Lost You”. All three of these books are nail biting, edge-of-your-seat thrillers that have you screaming aloud at the characters (I don’t suggest you read it in quiet public places). I finished each of these books in 2 sittings the most.
Alex Sinclair has a huge talent for hooking you from page one and not allowing you to breathe… at. all… until the final twist knocks you off your feet! The “holy cow did that just happen” feeling will grip you every time you read an Alex Sinclair book and this one is no different!
The best thing about this book is how believable yet unbelievable the plot seems. Grace and John out celebrating their anniversary like any other couple might, when BAM… the unthinkable happens and Grace’s life is turned upside down. Well the plot will certainly thicken and just when you think it can’t get any more crazy, BAM… twist of the century!
5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ so far Sinclair is 3 for 3 in the awesomeness category as far as “Two Girls and a Book Obsession” are concerned! Love, Love, Love! Go buy it!
