John and Grace Dalton are celebrating their fifth anniversary. Both have busy careers working at Bellflower General Hospital. Grace is a nurse and John is a rising resident physician. Now Grace wants to start a family and hopes that John will agree.

As they head to their car after their anniversary dinner, a truck speeds by, hitting and killing John. It is a hit and run and the driver was never found. Grace fell apart after John died and it has taken her six weeks just to be able to plan his funeral. She has been very fragile since he died not being able to leave their home. She wants it to be just her and the pastor there at the brief graveside service.

Grace has kept her distance from her friends as she grieves. John had no family - just Grace. He was an orphan and had grown up in different homes.

Grace’s good friend, Jennifer, took her to the cemetery and later Grace has to see John’s attorney about his estate. She is shocked to learn that shortly before his death, John had bought a million dollar insurance policy that will leave her a fairly wealthy woman. However, the insurance company will have to do an investigation to ensure there is no reason to deny the claim. As Grace leaves the attorney’s office, she sees a man across the street staring at her and she could swear it is John!

Grace is thankful to have Jennifer to help her. They have been close friends for several years. Jennifer is worried about her and wants her to see a therapist as she thinks he can help her. Even though she doesn’t want to, Grace relents. But she is afraid that if she tells the doctor everything that she is thinking and feeling, he may have her committed. Is she going crazy or is something more sinister at work here?

I found myself losing my sympathy for Grace. As a strong nurse dealing with emergencies and horrors every day, I thought she would not have gone to pieces like she did. But, grief hits everyone in different ways I suppose. The story does grow well and the ending is quite good.

I was delighted to receive this as an ARC as I've enjoyed the writer's other books, but unfortunately, this one didn't cut the mustard for me. The start was explosive when a hit and run accident lost Grace Dalton her husband, John. After that, I thought the past and present were not always clearly defined, and it all seemed to be going over old ground repeatedly, which became quite tedious. I must admit the theme is becoming a trifle well-worn that the dead person is not who you thought he/she was. The ending was reasonably credible but predictable. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

This is an intriguing story which I enjoyed.
Grace is grieving for her husband who was killed in a hit and run accident on their wedding anniversary.
She has her friend Jennifer to lean on but as the days go on she starts to think she’s losing her mind. She’s receiving anonymous text messages and things seem to be going missing around the house.
Jennifer tries to get Grace to talk to a psychiatrist but this doesn’t seem to help.
Grace then discovers something about her dead husband and doesn’t know which way to turn.
I can’t say anymore as I don’t want to spoil it but I can recommend this book if you like a gripping book with lots of twists and turns.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Grace Dalton just wants to get through the loss of her husband. John was killed by a hit and run driver while she helplessly watched from across the street. After six weeks of hiding in her darkened house she begins to realize that she must accept that John is gone.

As she attempts to take steps towards coming out of the depression she has succumbed to, Grace begins to see John and makes some upsetting discoveries.

We travel with Grace on the ups and downs of accepting the death of a loved one. Every time she takes a step forward, something happens to drag her back down. The characters are rich and easily believable. The story grabs you from the beginning and doesn’t let go. Written to fluctuate between Then and Now, each chapter drops clues and red herrings. Every time the reader decides the mystery has been solved, a new twist breaks the theory to pieces.

Alex Sinclair is quickly becoming a very well-known and respected mystery writer. His latest novel boost that distinction. I thoroughly enjoyed his previous book and Tell Me No Lies is just as exceptional. Already waiting for the next one to be published.

Tell Me No Lies is psychological thriller specialist Alex Sinclair's fourth novel, and although his biography states he loves to pen fast-paced reads will killer twists, unfortunately, I found this slow, tedious and extremely repetitive. Not only that but it commits the cardinal sin that all experienced thriller writers should be able to avoid - a completely predictable plot. The conclusion was, however, a fitting way to end and gave the story a little credibility at least. The characters were also stereotypical to the genre, whereas I much prefer those that fall outside of the usual cookie cutter mould.

That said, the two points of view were original and most intriguing - one perspective is Grace whilst married to John and the second as a "widow". However, this makes use of the classic " you don't know him/her as well as you think you do" trope, and it could've worked well as a premise had the other aspects mentioned above not made it a very mediocre read. As we headed towards the back end of the book everything completely unravels with Grace learning with each passing day more and more about her husband who is presumed dead. If you need likeable characters to get behind then this may not be for you as they are all pretty much unlikeable, not very believable or relatable and at certain points annoying. They also lacked sufficient depth. Some of what happens I would class as far-fetched and detached from reality. The premise, albeit decent, has been used a gazillion times before, so the only people I couldn't really see enjoying this is those that aren't regular readers of crime fiction. But for me, this was verging on dire.

Many thanks to Bookouture for an ARC. I was not required to post a review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I really enjoyed ‘Tell Me No Lies’ the first book I have read by the author Alex Sinclair.
It is a great thriller with a number of twists and turns.
The book goes between the day of Grace and John’s 5th wedding anniversary, which transpired to be the day John is killed by a speeding hit and run truck, and the present day which starts six weeks later.
Grace obviously finds it hard to cope with the death of husband, but is she dealing with normal grief or something more, or is she in fact suffering from severe depression or even psychosis?
Alex is a brilliant storyteller and ‘Tell Me No Lies’ had me gripped from the outset and riveted until the last page.

Grace and her husband John are out to dinner one night when to her horror she watches John get hit by a truck and die right in front of her. Grace falls apart and it takes her six weeks before she leaves the house the first time. Then she only makes it out because it is his funeral. With her best friend by her side Grace barely manages to hold it together.

However, when she meets with the lawyer after the funeral Grace is shocked to find out that John took out a million dollar policy on them both just shortly before he died. She is completely blown away. As Grace begins to go through his stuff in order to move on she finds that there are even more things about him that she doesn't know.

Soon Grace knows that she isn't delusional and things are getting out of control, but can she save herself and her friends before it is too late?

Whew this was not a super thriller, but I couldn't put it down, I read the book and was so drawn into the story. Although I will say at some point I knew what was going on the moment certain things were revealed. Or at least suspected it, but it didn't take away from the story for me. I couldn't wait to see how it would turn out for Grace.

This is told in then and now chapters, but from Grace's point of view. The then is the day that he died just told from the start of the day leading up to the dinner. I also really enjoyed that Grace was a bit of a mess and had flaws, but she was genuine and did care! A great read and the second book I have read by this author, and I will keep reading this author!

It's John and Grace's wedding anniversary. They have been married for five years. They go out for a meal to celebrate, but when they leave the restaurant, John is killed by a hit and run driver. Grace is devastated to say the least. She thought she knew the man she was married to. As things start to unravel, Grace learns things about her husband that are unbelievable to her. It seems she did not know John at all.

When part of this story is revealed, it's easy to see where this plot is going. The book alternates between the present time and the day that lead up to John's accident. There is some repetition in the book. There are twists and mysterious occurances that happen in Grase's house. Even though the pace is a bit slow, and the story does drag on a bit, but overall, I throughly enjoyed this book.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Bookouture and the author Alex Sinclair for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This didn't quite hold my attention. I felt there was too much repetition, which became tedious. I stayed with the book until the end as my curiosity was certainly aroused. A good plot with a brilliant outcome in my opinion.

When Grace's husband John suddenly dies, Grace struggles to put her life back together. She is sure she keeps seeing John in the distance, but she watched him die so it cannot be him.
Questions begin to arise and Grace has no answers for them. It seems that John was hiding something from her, but what?
The book had great promise, but I found it to be a little slow and repetitive. I was almost skimming pages near the end just to get to see what happened. The plot line was good and the ending apt and answered all the questions, but overall a bit mediocre.

Thank you to NetGalley, Alex Sinclair and Bookouture for this ARC.

I hate writing negative reviews about books, but this one just wasn't for me. The story was slow, and predictable. A shame, as I liked Alex Sinclair's other books.

I will read any future books he puts out, though. Just because I didn't like this one, doesn't mean I'm never reading any of his books again.

I wasn't sure about this book. It had enough to keep me going but I cant say I was ever gripped. It seemed to drag for a while with a lot of repetition. I didn't take to the characters enough to really care what happened. The ending tied up the story well.

I received a free e-copy of Tell Me No Lies by Alex Sinclair from NetGalley for my honest review.

Tell Me No lies is a quick psychological thriller read! This book is told from two points of view. One from Grace being married and the other of Grace as a widow.

On their fifth anniversary, Grace and John are out celebrating when John is suddenly killed. Grace is battling with depression due to the loss of her husband. Grace ends up meeting with their lawyer, who informers her that John had taken out a million dollars insurance policy. Grace did not know anything about the insurance policy.

One day she swears she sees her dead husband. Or did she? Someone is also sending her messages but when she tries to show them to her friend they have magically disappeared. Is she loosing her mind or is her mind playing tricks on her?

As the story line unravels Grace is learning things about her husband that she never knew.

This is a predictable plot but still a good read. I expected there to be more to the plot and for it not to be as predictable. As a quick read and a few hours escape it serves its purpose.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

Grace and John have been married for 5 years. On the night of their anniversary, John is tragically killed in a hit and run accident. Grace is understandably overcome with grief but when goes to see her husband’s lawyer to sort out the estate she finds out that John has been lying to her. When going through his belongings, Grace begins to discover that he wasn’t the man she thought he was. To add to her grief and confusion Grace is convinced there is someone watching her and she’s sure it looks like John. Her best friend thinks Grace is spiralling out of control emotionally, but is Grace imagining things or is there someone trying to stop her finding out the truth?

I enjoyed this book, as much as you can enjoy Grace’s husband dying and her life crashing down around her! I actually really felt for Grace at the beginning of the book. She was planning, on the night of her anniversary, on asking John if he wanted to start a family, and then in the blink of an eye he was taken from her. Her grief was so intense and rightly so. I felt like I had to keep reminding myself that this was a thriller book and that the storyline had to turn from sadness to suspense at some point! And it did!! The story took a more sinister turn when Grace visited her husband lawyer and found out some things she didn’t know. Now I’m not going to spoil it by telling you what, but it was obvious that Grace didn’t really know her husband at all!

I did feel that it was a little bit of a slow starter, but the story picked up pace very quickly after Grace had visited her husband’s lawyer. The chapters alternated between present day and 6 weeks previous, the day of her anniversary and the day John died. I did wonder why Grace hadn’t questioned more some of the things that happened before John died as I’d like to think I would have been like a dog with a bone until I had an answer!! She seemed to just accept what he told her and didn’t question it but I suppose if you trust someone, as she did, why would you question them! The story did take on a sinister feel with Grace thinking she’d seen someone following her and even more so when she thought it looked like her husband. The book for me at this point became a real page turner and I was quickly getting through it to find out what was going to happen. I genuinely didn’t guess how it was going to end until the big reveal and thought it was a great twist.

On the whole an enjoyable read which I finished in just under a day! It kept me gripped to the page and had me guessing right through to the end! Whilst it does start slowly, keep with it and the ending will be well worth it! Would definitely recommend!

The story is about Grace and John. Tell Me No Lies is obviously a book about lies. They think they can get away with the perfect murder in a drunken discussion. Years later they need to find out if this is true. Not my favorite. Not my least favorite.

They always say to not judge a book by its cover, but I can't help myself. If the cover does not appeal, I just don't read the book. It's as simple as that. This was caught my eye straight away. I don't read blurbs any more, because I want to start a new story with an open mind, a blank canvas where the author can paint his work on.

I have to say that it helps me reviewing and looking at books from a different angle. It's what I make of it without me being influenced by anything.

Ok, how did I feel? Well, very good, actually. The author opened with a bang and I was captivated. I do admit that some parts were repeated often, but in my opinion the author did it on purpose in order to show the reader how Grace felt.

I had a feeling about how some things were going to turn out, but it did not disturb me. It made me happy to finaly being able to unravel a secret by myself. There were enough details left for me to discover at the end.

I liked the way Grace changed during the story and I certainly enjoyed the twists.

It's my second book by this author and I will be on the lookout for the next one. 5 stars.

Thank you, Alex Sinclair, Bookouture and Netgalley.
