Grace and John are celebrating their 5th wedding anniversary, it should be a happy event but tragedy strikes. Now strange things keep happening and Grace feels like she is losing her mind. This book was definitely a page turner, I wanted to find out what was going on. At times though I felt like I was reading the script of a Lifetime movie and I did figure it out before the end, it is still a good read and I recommend it if you enjoy a good domestic thriller.

This is the first book I have read by Alex Sinclair and no matter what other reviewers say about his previous books I will not be going back for more.

A very disappointing book with no likable characters and silly plot lines. I especially hated best friend Jeniffer who was a meddling witch. Who would want a best friend who told your psychiatrist everything that you did!

I managed to read through to the ending and it was even more disappointing than the rest of the book.

Will not be recommending this book and rate it 1 star just because I have to. Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC

I am not too sure what to make of this book.

I mean, I liked it but I did not love it. The premise of the book caught my eye instantly and I was very eager to read it.
However, I felt that the story at times was confusing and the characters were not as believable to me as I would have liked.
I do not think I would like to read this book again.

How well do you really know your husband?

I was initially drawn to this book because of the cover and title of the book. Then I read the description and knew I had to read this book. I love stories like Tell Me No Lies. It reminded me of The Wife Between Us. You think you know what the ending is going to be but it's a twist that comes out of nowhere! I highly recommend if you like domestic thrillers.

Thank you #NetGalley, Bookouture and Alex Sinclair for the ARC of #TellMeNoLies

Tell Me No Lies – Alex Sinclair

3 Stars.

This was my first Alex Sinclair book.

The story is about Grace who sees her husband, John, die in front on her and how she copes with the aftermath. It is also a thriller so there are a few twists, although I guessed the ending early on. The book moves between the night John died and six weeks after his death. The dialogue is mostly between two people and became quite repetitive. Grace also has a best friend Jennifer, but the friendship to me never came across as authentic and Jennifer never seemed to take account of the mourning process, it was as though after six weeks everything should be fine and dandy!

Unfortunately, I never jelled with any of the characters, I felt there was no depth to them. Also, parts of the story were glossed over when more should have been made of the plot and at other times the story dragged on when it should have been a quick snapshot.

However, I have given the book three stars because the beginning of the book did hold my attention and every now and again I was aware that the author had added a nice twist, so the premise is there.

Although this was a pretty decent read for me , I didn't think it was nearly as good as The Last Thing I saw . I think that's because I really couldn't warm to Grace , not sure why . Grace see's her husband John mowed down by a driver in a hit and run . He die on the scene and we get the story of that night in the past and the present 6 weeks after his death . Grace is really not coping well and when she finds out that John had recently taken out a very expensive life insurance her world get's even more complicated . I feel that the same story has been done before and better . Though I would give 3.5 stars if I could .

No.

No, no a thousand times no.

The book is illogical and repetitive. The author is Australian, which is cool, but he places this book in Oregon. I don’t know…maybe he’s been there on a vacation once? But Oregon is not a land of 24-hour malls, cities with only one café, people in dressing gowns who need to get their feed on (I’m not sure what exactly I just typed there).

Our main character is tiresome. She has a best friend who is a horrible driver, refuses to drive, and who drives her everywhere.

The shocking reveal isn’t so shocking. It’s pretty clear very early one.

I didn’t like this. I just kept reading it to see how much I wouldn’t like it…because I’m perverse that way.

Not for me.

I enjoy reading Alex Sinclair books. I found Tell Me No Lies, good; If you want a quick read this is the book for that.
This book had a lot of twists and turns throughout but did not grip me as much as his other books I have read of his. But I enjoyed it.

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Alex Sinclair for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an review

Wow, this book was intense from the first page up until the very ending. The prologue was so disturbing in so many ways, but also chilled me to the bones and made sure to death grip my mind until the end. Sinclair definitely knows how to get a Reader's attention and keep it. It also makes sure to keep your pulse rate going a bit!
Will be recommending and using in daily challenge in Chapter Chatter Pub!

Thank you to net galley for providing this ARC. This book had potential, but fell a bit short for me. In the overcrowded market of domestic thrillers this felt like it had "already been done" and done better. The main character Grace wasn't all that likable, so it was hard for me to get invested in her plight or in the story.

Grace Dalton is celebrating her fifth wedding anniversary with her doctor husband John when he is run down by a hit and run driver. But was it an accident? The mystery deepens when she discovers that he had taken out a million dollar insurance claim on his life just a few weeks before his death. Grace has no idea that he did this and doesn't understand how he could have paid for it. Finding out about these hidden aspects of her husband's life constitutes the main thrust of the book. But it is so repetitive! It feels like this plot is padded out with Grace asking the same questions and thinking the same thoughts throughout the book and was utterly frustrating to read. The only reason I gave it two stars is that the mystery was sufficient to keep me turning the pages but I would have to say that this is the most repetitive story I have ever read.

A well written suspense novel that enjoyed immensely. You will be blown away! I cant imagine being married to someone and then finding out you really didn't know them at all.

The description of this “grippling psychological thriller” is what enticed me about this book. Grace Dalton is trying to put her life together after she witnesses her husband, John, die suddenly in a hit and run on their fifth anniversary. As she sorts through his belongings and tries to get her life back on track, she discovers John has been lying to her.

There was nothing different about this book than other books with a similar storyline. The wife suffers massive grief, discovers lies about her husband, and then tries desperately to solve all the questions she has. I did not connect with Grace’s character at all. I thought she treated her friend, Jennifer, very bad and she seemed to be the only person who cared about her at all. I had a lot of suspicions about Jennifer, and I did turn out to be wrong about a lot of those.

I felt so much repetition in this book. It took a long time to get to the climax of the story and even when I got there, I had already figured out what happened. I was hoping for something more exciting and for the story to move a lot quicker than it did.

Thanks to NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

2.5
This story has a great prologue! Unfortunately it goes downhill from there. Grace and Jennifer (her best, and seemingly, only friend) are quite the pair. The first half of this story is repetitive and mind numbing. The second half the action picks up and there are some surprises. The ending was fine but not as crazy as I expected or wanted. Overall it was a decent story that I would have rated higher had it been edited to cut down on the repetition.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for a review.

Thank you to NetGalley and publishers for the ARC.
I really enjoyed the start of this book; written alternately between past and present, I started by feeling that this would be a story taking one through all the stages of grief: a happily married couple out for their anniversary dinner, a hit-and-run driver killing John, the depths of despair experienced by Grace. But sadly that was not the case.
Grace's seemingly only friend Jennifer (who vaguely appears to have a job but no other life or significant others) is always there to drive her around and look out for her, watches from a distance as Grace buries her husband finally after 6 weeks of hand-wringing house-bound darkness, all alone with the Vicar. Apparently John's 'friends' had their own 'informal' funeral (a what?) just after his death and, although he must have had colleagues as well there is no further inclusion of them in the story. Except for one who has IT skills useful in accessing John's laptop. In those initial 6 weeks Grace appears to have had phone-counselling (???) with a psychiatrist but as her mental state deteriorates into visions of her dead husband, paperwork mysteriously disappearing, and odd text messages being received, Jennifer insists on her physically seeing the doctor who, well, does really nothing at all. The intense suffocating friendship between Jennifer and Grace deteriorates as Grace suddenly finds the energy to turn detective herself. This confirms the suspicions the reader has all along, leading to a very 'convenient' ending, admittedly containing the one 'twist' I wasn't expecting.
Overall I found Grace's character oh-so sickly and self-pityingly shallow, the writing was extremely repetitive, the storyline was thin and prescriptive. Sorry, but I really did feel this would have made a great little short story were it to be condensed somewhat to maintain any feeling of pace and intrigue. As it is I felt neither gripped nor thrilled.

Currently, only a few chapters in, Tell Me No Lies by Alex Sinclair has me anxious to start reading again. I was up late last night reading this and now I’ve been looking forward to picking it up later and continuing. All I can think about right now is relaxing on my bed with my dogs and reading!

The book begins with Grace and John celebrating their five year anniversary. After spending a few years building their careers, Grace feels that she’s ready to start a family and plans to discuss it with John when they get home from their anniversary dinner. Only things don’t go as planned. John is hit by a truck and killed instantly.

Now Grace is the recipient of a one million dollar insurance payout, she didn’t have any idea that John had this policy. Now that he’s dead, she can’t help reflecting on some other things about John…how well did she really know the love of her life? And why is she seeing a stranger who looks just like him?

Here is the official synopsis:

Grace Dalton is trying to put her life back together after her husband John died suddenly in a hit and run. Her perfect world is collapsing around her, the home she hoped to fill with children is huge and empty, and she’s paralysed with grief.

But as Grace sorts through her husband’s belongings, she realises the man she loved was lying to her. There’s a mysterious list of names hidden among his things, a secret bank account, and a shocking revelation about his family that he kept from her since the day they met.

Who was John Dalton?

As Grace tries to identify the names on the list she realises something is wrong. She’s imagining things: seeing John in the faces of strangers and finding things in an entirely different place to where she’d swear she left them.

Is Grace losing her grasp on reality, or is someone trying to stop her finding out the truth about her husband?

I knew from the first page that I’d like this and I think my fellow readers will enjoy it as well. Bookouture is one of my favorite publishers, they are constantly putting out fantastic fiction. This one comes out on October 25.

I would like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Tell Me No Lies’ by Alex Sinclair in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Grace Dalton is out with her husband John celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary. Over the last few months John has been acting very strangely and Grace is convinced he’s keeping secrets from her, but before she had the chance to ask him John is struck by a light blue pick-up truck and dies. As Grace gradually emerges from her depression she leaves the house and sees a man watching her who looks like John. But it can’t be John as Grace was with him when he died and she visits his grave, so who is it? Or could she be losing her mind?
‘Tell Me No Lies’ is a very enjoyable thriller with a tense and exciting plot. It’s well-written with the narrative moving effortlessly between the day John died six weeks previously to the present time. From page one I was kept enthralled and couldn’t stop reading until I’d reached the end where there was a completely unexpected twist. A very enjoyable read!

This is the second book i have read by Alex.Sinclair and this one was just as good as the previous. I had an inkling of what I thought had happened but the twist at the end was a surprise to me!
If you like suspense you will probably enjoy this, it's all about a spouse who died and their other half who learns long the way that she didn't actually know him at all even after 5 years of marriage, so many secrets......

This book is a tale that has been told repeatedly. There isnt anything much new or exciting about it. The wife is not very likable, she is plain annoying at times. Overall it took a lot of effort to try and get through this book. Not one that I enjoyed much
