This is a slow burning romance with a slight age gap. The story makes you feel happy. Its pace is neither slow nor fast. But I feel it was just right.

Its basically about two people who fall in love. One being a little reluctant but just cant help herself.

This would be a great vacation read but be warned you wont be able to put it down.

Yes, I would recommend this book. I enjoyed it immensely.

This was a layered and interesting romance that showed two very different perspectives in the small seaside town. I liked Mat and Graham were such a sweet couple and they had such a good dynamic that i spent the whole novel wanting them to get together because they were so perfect for each other. The drama was realistic and believable and i could see the characters were grounded in the real world because of it.

This series has been a delight to read. I am a sucker for strong women who work outdoors and Mat did not disappoint. I also empathized with her relationship with her family. And then there is Graham who decided to take a chance and ended up winning both Mat and the readers over.

An honest review thanks to NetGalley. This was a great book by Rey. It was a very sweet romance that started out as a hookup. As the relationship between Mat and Graham continued and a deeper connection was formed as Mat confronted her fears on her family, I was drawn into their story. Rey is excellent at creating sweet romantic reads, and this book does not disappoint.

Another enjoyable installment in Aurora Rey's contemporary Cape End romance series, all set in Provincetown. Mat Pero loves her family's connection to the local community, hauling up lobster for area restaurants and others. Aside her cousin and best friend Dom, a trans man who is given more than a quick sketch with his own minor storyline, Mat spends her days at sea or engaged in a quick fling. Graham Connor, a relative newcomer to town, uses her science degree aboard a whale watching vessel, sharing her knowledge with tourists. Her aunt Nora, along with Nora's partner Will, form the supportive base as the young woman flounders in love and seeing the future beyond the horizon. Drama ensues as Dom and Graham attempt a relationship amidst all of their life sorting, ultimately arriving at their own HEA (or HPN). Characters from other books in the series make cameos.

This was a good read. I like characters of Graham and Mat and how there relationship progress. I definitely love how food play a role in this book because it give me idea on how to make different dishes. I am going to have to get the other three book of this series only have one of her books A Build to Last which I love.

Graham and Mat meet and - slowly, ever so slowly - fall in love. Their relationship evolves, as do the relationships they have with their friends and family members (and each other's loved ones, as they meet them).

The blossoming of Graham and Mat's relationship, as well as what they have to do to be together, is so heartwarming.

This is the fourth book in the Cape End series, a set of romantic stories focusing on a group of women who reside in Provincetown. Although this is a series, the book can be read as a standalone.

Mat Pero is a fifth-generation lobsterman who loves being outdoors and working on the water. She comes from a very large, traditional Portuguese family. Her family is very tight knit and conservative. They know that Mat is gay, and they all live with the attitude “don’t ask, don’t tell”. Mat keeps her relationships quiet and light. She has not brought anyone home until she meets Graham Connor.

When Graham graduated from college she moved to P-town. She was able to secure an environmentalist guide position on one of the boats which handles sightseeing trips in the area. She loves her work and is very popular with all the customers. Graham is a romantic and would love to meet someone and start her own family. However, she has been too busy and has not had the time in a year to even date. That all changes when Graham and Mat meet. Initially, they only want to have a good time, but one can’t control the heart.

I have read several of Ms. Rey’s books and have found them all to be enjoyable. This one is no exception. She has a very smooth writing style which draws the reader into the story. As with her other novels, the character development is good. The story itself was a little predictable, but fine for a weekend read.

I recommend this book and the series to anyone who enjoys romance and happy endings. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

I love the Cape End Romance series and Autumn's Light doesn't disappoint. Mat and Graham decide to engage in a casual hookup that soon turns into less casual while mostly Mat struggles with the seriousness of their relationship. We meet all the characters from the previous books again. I also liked Mats cousin and best friend who is a transman. How easy and common he is portrayed in the story.

I loved this book. The authors style and tone pulled me into the pages of this book and keep me engaged in the story. The strong leading ladies made it even more enjoyable. I just love this book because Aurora Rey writes characters that are so believable and easy to relate to. In this book she not only develops to terrific main characters but several sub characters that are totally enjoyable. For instants there is a trans man wanting to have a relationship with a woman, there's two characters with an age difference, and two characters that are married and have children.

Mat is a hard-working lobsterman who comes from a local Portuguese family who has lobster in the waters off of Cape Cod for generations. Matt is very devoted to her family but not talk about women in her life or the fact that she dates women. Mat dates lots of women but does not develop any relationship with them outside of the bedroom. One day when unloading her lobster catch she looks up and finds a woman staring at her from the docs who she feels an attraction to. The woman staring at her is Graham a young woman who is working on a boat as a naturalist. In her life, Graham has stated only two women but longs for the happily ever after with the soulmate.

Both women have a strong interest in each other and then as happenstance has it they meet later that night in a bar. After they get introduced to one another their attraction send sparks off in each of them and they end up spending the night together. They develop a casual relationship with one another that includes hot sex and easy companionship. They soon realize that their connection expands beyond the bedroom however Mat knows that she can never give Graham the type of relationship she needs because she fears she will be shut out from her family. Will back be able to get over her fear of letting her parents to know that she's involved and in love with a woman or will she play it safe and say a painful goodbye to Graham? The main story of Graham and Mat are enough to carry this book , however when you add in the secondary characters and their stories, this book becomes an enhanced and wonderful experience in human relationships.

To be perfectly honest, I had quite a bit of trouble getting into this one. It's not that it was bad, it just wasn't all that great either. I liked it, but didn't love it. I want to be clear that I didn't read any of the other books in this series before picking up this one, so that possibly had something to do with my feelings.

For the first 25% of the book, I really just was hoping it would pick up more. It got better over time, but the beginning was just a struggle for me and I felt myself disengaging and skimming somewhat (which is rare for me). I did love that there was a trans character in this book though, and loved that the author went there. It was a nice change of pace, and the secondary romance was sweet.

The romance was thankfully different from the same 'ol same 'ol, but still just felt a bit... meh. There's some chemistry, and thankfully no angsty drama, but nothing really happens to make this one exciting or 'must read'. If you liked the other books in this series, I'm sure you will like this one too, but for me, it was just ok.

What's with al the characters having masculine names though? Don't do that. Just don't.

This is the 4th in the series "Cape End Romance." I have not read the other books in the series and I think reading the previous books would have given me a better insight into "Autumn's Light."
I found the book to be slow paced at times. The two main characters are Mat and Graham, both looking for a meaningful relationship while Mat tries to overcome something traumatic that happened to her in a previous relationship.
The other romance going on in the book is the sweet relationship between Dom and Renata,
For me, I highly recommend reading this series in order.

This author is new to me, so didn't have any expectations going in-BUT what a great read! I liked that this book was full of dialog (not just inner monologue). The characters and scenes were rich in description, and I was still thinking about them even after I finished the book. I thought the characters were well developed, the dialog was engaging, and the sub-characters really brought out the understanding of some of the main characters behaviors (parents really do influence our upbringing).

When I started reading this story I didn’t realize it is one of a few in an arching story line of characters from an East cost fishing town. With that being said, I was able to read this as a stand-alone story, there was some references of other characters from this author’s other books so if you wanted their back story you will need to read the other three, but again this one stands-alone just fine..

This author is on my 'watch for other books' list from now on, I look forward to reading more from her and plan to pick up the other 3 in this series.

'Autumn's Light' by Aurora Rey is the fourth book in the Cape End Romance Series. This book tells the story of Mat Pero, a lobsterman from a large Portuguese family and Graham Connor, a naturalist who works for a company in Provincetown that gives daily whale watching tours and also tracks the migratory habits of the whales in the area. I use the term lobsterman even though Mat is a woman because in the story the women who work in this field prefer not to be separated from their male counterparts by a gender defining term. I like that.

Most of Mat's immediate family have had issues over her sexuality, so Mat has lived most of her adult life thinking she would only have casual, short term relationships and that long term romance is not for her. Graham has been out of the dating scene for over a year, and decides to try the casual dating scene even though she does believe in and wants a long term relationship in the future. This is how the two main characters begin their relationship together. You can see from the start there will be conflict over this and of course there is.

Even though this is the fourth book in the series, I believe it can be read as a stand alone story. I think this is because 'Autumn's Light' is my first book in the series. You do meet the characters from the other books, especially the third book since it tells the story of Graham's Aunt Nora and Will, who also play a secondary role in this book. The author, however, gives enough information in the story to cover what has happened in the former books. Readers of the former books will also get to catch up with characters they know and love.

This is a beautiful romance. I loved the flow of the story, loved the characters including the secondary ones, and especially loved the setting of Provincetown, Massachusetts. I would not call this a slow burn romance since the main couple get together and have sex fairly early in the story. That is a bit unusual for this kind of romance, but for this story it works well. The flow and growth of the romance is perfect here, and I loved seeing how the couple grow together even with the obvious pitfalls they face.

I also have to mention the other romance in the story; the one between Dom and Renata. They are such a lovely couple and I was so glad to see them falling in love.

Aurora Rey is an exceptional author. 'Autumn's Light' is a shining example of her skills as a writer. I can wholeheartedly recommend this book to all romance lovers.

This book started out as a solid four stars in my mind. To get the fifth star from me, the book has to be one that I would read more than once. By the end of the story, 'Autumn's Light' definitely had a fifth star.

Apparently, Autumn Light is the 4th installment in this series but I really didn’t feel like I was missing any information in not having read the previous books. My favorite thing about the story are the mc’s, Mat and Graham, who are warm and likable as is Mat’s cousin, Dom.

The author changes things up a bit by having the mc’s sleep together at the beginning. This felt like a big risk on the writer’s part because it immediately takes out the sexual tension and sense of anticipation that most of these books thrive on. Instead, the story focuses on what might happen next to two people who swear up and down that they’re just in it for some fun times instead of HEA.

The book is easy to read and when the author is in a groove, it flows. I do wish there had been a little more depth to the characters because I just felt like something was missing. Still, a good read.

My least favorite of the series. I just didn’t warm up to Mat at all. There was a moment where I thought went yey, they're having a gronup discussion, but that didn't really last long.

This is book 4 of the 'Cape End Romance' series by this author featuring love stories for each season set in Provincetown, Massachusetts. As this novel presents characters from previous books in the series, especially book 3 'Spring's Wake', I recommend to read them in chronological order, or at least read book 3 first. The whole series features the beautiful landscape of Cape Cod and 'Autumn's light' showcases the Portuguese heritage in Provincetown, particularly the fishermen who migrated to that area of Massachusetts a long time ago. The book captures the spirit of this tight community that keeps their traditions alive with Portuguese festivals and traditional food.

Mat Pero is a lobsterman (apparently, female lobster catchers are called like that) who comes from a established Portuguese family of fishermen. As her family is traditional Catholic and not completely supportive of her homosexuality, she prefers to keep her relationships casual and hidden from them. When she meets marine naturalist Graham Connor, her intention to keep things light don't go according to plan. Will they have their happily ever after?

This is a butch-femme relationship that begins with insta-lust but is slow-burn in the romance department. Both main characters are well rounded and credible. Mat is the epitome of the dark and strong butch who, at the same time, wants to avoid family conflicts when dealing with her sexuality. Graham is a femme (paradoxically with such a masculine name) conflicted between her attraction for Mat, who offers her no commitment, and her desire to find a serious relationship. Their conflict is believable and makes the reader wonder how is in reality the coexistence between the traditional Catholic Portuguese and the liberal lesbian communities in Provincetown. Having said that, in my opinion, Mat's family issues could have had a more developed resolution in the plot considering its importance.

The secondary characters are multi layered and complement the plot skillfully, kudos to the author for introducing a trans character and opening an interesting view into the world of fishing and marine habitat. However, there is an amount of paragraphs telling more than showing how the characters feel, which is a pet peeve of mine but it might not annoy other readers. My relatively low rating is because even though the story background was interesting, the romance didn't appeal to me much.

Overall 'Autumn's light' is an enjoyable read with a charming background of Provincetown. 3.5 stars.

Aurora Rey has way of envoking your senses as you read her books. Her writing is fabulous and there are characters that you always fall in love with. This is a definite read for all.
