Enjoyed the story, it was a great read and holds your attention. Rose’s father has confessed to treason in order to protect her and her mother, and she seeks Lucien’s help in clearing his name. It took a lot of work on both of their part’s to do this and there was a lot of action and danger along the way. There is a HEA which makes this a great story. I would highly recommend this book as a great read.

This book, like all of this authors books, was a pleasure to read. Great characters, great story, great everything.

Quick, interesting read. Lucien is a very seriousness. We don't really get to know him too well, except to watch him fall in love. Rose is a sweet girl, determined to prove fear father is not a traitor. I really loved Ellen, Lucien's sister. Good plot, but I would have loved a larger story as there was lots to tell, but not enough pages to share.

How can a much sought after debutante become out of favor with the ton? Rose Hardwick's father was charged with treason and sits in jail. But she believes he is innocent and sets out to find a way to prove it. The answer comes from Lucien, the Earl of Brantford who is deemed The Unaffected Earl by society due to his aloofness. As Rose tries to convince him to help her, danger comes in to play and Lucien is determined to protect her. What he does is truly hero worthy but you will have to read to find out. There was almost a mystery about his past and Rose seems to be able to get under his outer persona and find the man he is really.
I adored these two characters and their story will hold your attention until the end. Although part of a series, this can be read as a standalone, but you will want to read them all!

Rose Hardwick's father has been accused of treason and taken away. Because of it, Rose loses her position in Society and everyone looks down their noses at her, except for a few select friends. Rose knows that her father is innocent and will do anything to prove it. That is where Lucien, the Earl of Brantford, comes in.

Lucien has been attracted to Rose for quite some time, but he has done his best to avoid her up until now. When Rose asks for his help in proving her father's innocence, he leaps at the chance to be near her. It does not take long to realize Rose is correct about her father, and that his associations have put her in grave danger. Suddenly, it's about more than just protecting Rose. Lucien will not lose the woman he is falling for.

Sadly, THE UNAFFECTED EARL, by author Suzanna Medeiros, fell a little flat for me. The storyline was a little slow, drawn out, and all very predictable. Some of it is due to the fact that we have dealt with the villain before in Ms. Medeiros's LANDING A LORD series, so it's to be expected. The main characters, Lucien and Rose, needed to get it together a little quicker and act on their feelings for one another. I just didn't feel a very strong connection between them. Ms. Medeiros's LANDING A LORD series consists of three novels to date, LOVING THE MARQUESS, BEGUILING THE EARL and THE UNAFFECTED EARL. I give THE UNAFFECTED EARL a 3.5 out of 5 stars rating.

I really enjoyed Lucien and Rose's story.

I was a little hesitant at the beginning. Being that this is part of a series, but yet can be read as a stand alone, I was little lost at the beginning of the story. As I started to read the first chapter when we find Rose's dad in prison for treason and a very upset Rose who happens to be visiting him. Lucien felt some rejection from Rose, and that sort of threw me off. I knew then that I was missing part of the story. I actually started chapter one all over again. But after getting through the first chapters I was able to somehow put a little bit of unknown behind and settled into the story.

I love that Lucien was one of those brooding, protective, sexy heroes. Some of my favorites! I enjoyed that Rose did not back down and decided to pursue him. I liked that there was no childish drama to their story. They were clear on what they wanted and slowly opened up to each other.

I am pretty interested in finding out about Lucien's sister's, Ellen, and the Duke of Castlefield (the Unsuitable Duke). Ellen seems like she could be a fiesty heroine and hopefully Castlefield would be the one to tame her/or not :)

It was a good ready and despite a little rocky start, I really enjoyed it!

The Unaffected Earl by Suzanna Medeiros is book Three in the Landing a Lord series. This is the story of Rose Hardwick and Lucien, the Earl of Brantford. I haven't yet read the previous books, so for me this was a standalone book.
Rose was once the golden girl of the town but then her father was charged with treason and everything turned bad. Rose doesn't believe the charges that have been brought against her father as sets out to prove they are false. Rose ends up asking the 'Unaffected Earl' who is Lucien to help her fight for her father. Lucien seems to be anything but 'Unaffected' by Rose the more that he gets to know her. Lucien works for the Home Office so he does have some connections but he starts to learn that Rose is in danger too. This opens him up to offer her the protection of his name via marriage.
Enjoyed this mystery romance.

I really enjoyed Rose and Lucien's story. I would definitely recommend reading the other books in the series to get a better understanding of these two as they are featured, especially in Beguiling the Earl.

Rose is positive that her father is innocent and goes to Lucien for help. He agrees to help, but soon sees that her life is in danger. The best way to protect her, is to marry her. Can this marriage that can from necessity, turn into one of everlasting love?

I really enjoyed these two together and how Rose was able to break through Lucien's shell.

I've really enjoyed this series, so I hope that Medeiros will be continuing it!

I loved Rose and Lucien's story. The author does a great job of bringing together an Earl who no one can affect and the belle of the ball who only wants the attention of the one man who won't give it. The Landing a Lord series is a wonderful read with adventure and romance. It has something for everyone. I cannot wait to read the next in this series.

What a fun read! This novel is part of a historical suspense/romance series, but this one can be read as a stand-alone (although all of the books are delightful and have characters that crossover, so why not read them all?). Intelligent damsels in over their heads and handsome gentlemen spies that come to the rescue is the general storyline for the series, but each book is unique. The flow of the writing is fast-paced and once you start reading, it's hard to put down. I look forward to the next installment and perhaps a certain sister's chance at finding love. For historical romance adventure fans.

Another fantastic read from Suzanna Medeiros. This was about Rose and Lucien, also the Unaffected Earl, story. It was short but very intincing. Great characters development and great pace.

Many seek his favour, men and women alike, but few glimpse what lies beneath the Earl of Brantford’s aloof exterior. He’s earned the nickname the Unaffected Earl. Rose Hardwick was the most sought-after debutante in London until scandal touched her family and made her a social pariah.
Rose is determined to prove her father innocent of the crime of treason, but first she must convince the Unaffected Earl to help her. When Lucien realises Rose I in grave danger he vows to protect by giving her his name.
This is the third book in the series & although it could be read on its own to fully appreciate it I’d recommend reading the earlier books. The story is well written & flows very well so much so that I was very loath to put it down. The characters have plenty of depth, Rose is likeable & not at all the simpering debutante but highly intelligent & Lucien has certainly met his match. Lucien has built a façade of being aloof & always in control so I loved it when the façade crumbled & he lost control. I’ve read the whole series one book after another & found myself totally engrossed I only hope The Unsuitable Duke has his story as Ellen is certainly hiding something

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

I was thrilled to receive an ARC copy of this book I had been long looking forward to reading.

Readers of the series had already met hero and heroine in Beguiling The Earl, which I strongly recommend reading before this novel. This book can in fact be read as a standalone, but I think you will find this hea much more satisfying if you are fully aware of the extent of grief that took our heroine to get there.

I had truly pined for Rose in the preceding book. She was a warm, kind, generous soul who was somehow used as a pawn to get to her father who was suspected of treason. Her love interest, the Earl of Brantford, is attracted to her, but must keep his distance because of his job and must even endure see his friend paying a sham courtship to her in order to try and discover if her father really is guilty of treason as rumor would have it.

This book finally sees our star-crossed lovers be given a chance to get close to each other and express their mutual love. The plot relies on some mistery, without giving too much away I can tell you it was a heart-warming read that I strongly recommend.

The Earl of Brantford is known for being so cold that he has ice water in his veins. He is known as the Unaffected Earl. Rose Hardwick's father is in jail for treason. She has been in love with Brantford ever since she has been in London, but he has never looked at her as far as anyone knew. Rose asks Brantford to help her prove her father did not commit treason. To keep her safe, he needs to keep her close. Will Brantford be able to prove her father innocent? Will he ever thaw up enough to see the love Rose has for him? I loved the storyline and the characters. They were believable. I received this book from Net Galley and the publisher for a honest review and no compensation otherwise.

I really wanted to give this book the full five stars, but some of the scenes fell a little flat for me and some of it was perhaps a bit rushed. I would also recommend reading this series in order; I missed the second book so that left me without some of the backstory. Some of the steam was also a bit half-hearted, as was the development of the relationship between Lucien and Rose. Despite all that, I'm a sucker for the hero protecting the heroine and Lucien is a great strong hero for that. I just think there were so many unexplored avenues here. Lucien's past was alluded to, but we never got much depth from him and why he is the way he is. We only know that Rose has loved Lucien from afar but we never find out why she was attracted to him. It's not exactly insta-love or anything, we just don't get enough details on the development of their relationship in my opinion. Overall, it's still a good book and I would recommend it.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

A bit of intrigue, a frozen-hearted duke, a vivacious woman and a marriage of convenience. This story contains all of these elements and make it an entertaining read. I love stories where stuffy dukes realize that they cannot possibly hold themselves from their love. Brantford and Rose's story is a lovely, sweet read. I wished it had been longer so that we could see their characters developed more. Ms. Medeiros' writing flows well and I kept saying "one more chapter".

The Unaffected Earl bySuzanna Madeiros
Landing a Lord #3

Rose Hardwick’s father, having confessed to treason, is in London Tower. Her mother has fled London but she will not leave as she believes her father innocent and wants to support him until his innocence is proven. She has, evidently, had a crush on the Earl of Brantford that has been unrequited when she meets him one day outside her father’s cell. Little does she know that he works for the Home Office. When her friend Catherine offers her the advice to seek Brantford’s assistance in proving her father innocent she complies and surprisingly he agrees…in spite of being a “cold fish”.

This is a story of two people ending up together, finding the real traitor and ending up with a happily ever after. It is relatively short at around 150 pages and I think that having read previous books in the series might have fleshed out some of the characters more and given more insight into them and the story. I enjoyed it but at times wished there was a bit more information about the characters, the tower, the bad guy, etc. This was a pleasant quick read and I hope to read more books by this author in the future.

Thank you to the author for bequeathing me a copy of this book through NetGalley – This is my honest review.

The Unaffected Earl has been long in the making. Glad to see it has reached print because the Earl of Brantford is due his romance with mischievous, charming Rose Hardwick. Rose’s father has been accused of treason to the crown. Her former fiance, Kerrick, and Brantford are still trying to determine if Rose’s father is truly the traitor as he has confessed.

Rose and Kerrick’s now fiance, Charlotte, are still good friends. Charlotte is one of the few friends who has stood by her side as Rose tries to help prove her father’s innocence. Rose enlists Brantford’s help to clear her father’s name. Brantford believes there is more going on than appears on the surface. He is very controlled and secretive. Yet, he cares deeply about Rose, which cases him a huge amount of personal concern.

Ms. Medeiros writes the most sensual scenes that help bring along the love these two feel for each other. Rose refuses to give up on the man she loves. It is quite endearing!

Although this is a stand-alone book, you may want to start at the beginning of the series. The first book, Dancing with the Duke, was a novella introducing the series. Each book has kept my interest and I wished they had been longer. Not because anything was missing; they are just enjoyable. It is my hope the series is not over. Brantford’s sister, Ellen, needs her HEA, too.
