A really entertaining read, focusing on a fictional seventies band in the vein of Fleetwood Mac. The interview structure meant we got insights into all the main characters, and also allowed Jenkins Reid to keep a few twists up her sleeve. Looking forward to seeing what Jenkins Reid does next.

It's become a contemporary classic for a reason! Amazing characterisation, gripping story, convincing plot.

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). What a great fictional biopic, easy to read and vibrant characters throughout.

I started reading this a couple of years ago and just could not get into it. The writing style annoyed me so much and the lack of prose felt really jarring. I tried again after reading the author’s other recent books and something just clicked and loved it. The style and the different narrators flow together a lot easier when I know what to expect and it didn’t feel like it was missing anything. Very glad I gave it another shot! The perfect literary companion to Almost Famous!

I am 100% in love with Daisy Jones & Billy Dunne. If you can't imagine the power of their music, even feel it in your soul, I don't know what to say. The whole Six crew are so real I feel like I've just finished watching a Netflix series. For me, they're real people. I feel like I've followed their careers & play their album, Aurora, to death. I was not prepared for this book.

You know that feeling when you close the book and you think "wow".
THIS is that book.
All characters felt so real.
It was as if you were following a real band.
This story is told in the format of an interview.
You leads about Daisy Jones, The Six and how they formed, and how they joined with Daisy to be the best rock and roll band ever.
Secrets, romance, scandals, drugs, alcohol...it was so realistic.
This is one of my favourite books of the year already!
This is going to be a massive hit on release.
This is the first book I've read by this author and I can't wait to read more!

Gritty, glamorous and gripping. I absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys clever writing, intriguing characterisation and smart storytelling.

Daisy Jones and the Six is a riveting story of sex, drugs and rock and roll. I absolutely loved this book and the emotions it filled me with. The interview style of writing really made this book and I just can not wait to see what else TJR will come up with next.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and got through it in a matter of hours. I liked the interview structure - it was deceptively simple and it was a great way to get to know the different characters. I was definitely picturing the characters and hearing the songs in my head as I read it!

A really easy and enjoyable read that transports you to the 70s!

It took a while to get used to the interview style of storytelling - although it wasnt as difficult as many other reviews suggest!

This is a really interesting look at the rock industry throughout the 70s through the viewpoint of and up and coming band.

I really enjoyed it but it lost a star for me as I struggled to really like any of the main characters.

Sex, drugs and rock n' roll - Daisy Jones and the Six has it all. But I didn't love it, sadly (and I seem to be a definite minority on this). I struggle with books where I can't connect to one character, but they're all entirely self-centered, which I'm sure is the point, but I couldn't get past it. However, the story was clever and engaging, the retelling of the meteoric rise of the band was a great narrative arc, building to the drama and the inevitable break up. I liked that you saw so many perspectives, and with so many (unreliable) narrators, it was so true to true life that the story came alive.

A magnificent novel about the rise and fall of a rock band in ’70s California, told through the transcripts of interviews for a documentary. Reid nails atmosphere: the drugs, the sex, but also the strangely untouchable, self-centered innocence that permeates this milieu. Daisy Jones could have been a Manic Pixie Dream Girl (with added smack problem), but her emotional vulnerability is leavened with grit; Camila Dunne, wife of the lead guitarist, could have been a caricature of a stay-at-home mother, but her integrity is the moral backbone of the book. Reid also has some beautiful, scary things to say about creative collaboration, the hard work of making music, and the ease with which we can fuck up our own hearts.

Novels about music can be a bit rubbish. This was not the case with Saisy. This is a sharp journey into the exciring and seedy world of rock n’ roll. It tackles all the rock cliche's but does so from a female perspective and with several strong female characters. The relationship with BIlly Dunne is well done and the supporting voices/characters add to the believability of the events and situations - esp if you've read any actual rock star autobiographies.

Riley Keough (Elvis' grand-daughter) is penciled in tp play daisy in the upcoming Amazon adaptation of the novel, which could be fun.

This is a late review. I have to say, right from the start that I didn't finish this book, not because it wasn't a good book or was poorly written, quite on the contrary but I just found that it really wasn't a storyline I could get absorbed in and it really wasn't the genre for me.

However I know of many people that loved this book and I cannot deny that I thought it was excellently written and I felt it was definitely convincing therefore I will leave a 5 star review as if the subject matter had been more to my taste, I know i would enjoyed the writing.

I really enjoyed this book. It read like a biographical account of a real band but is, of course, pure fiction.
Eminently enjoyable with thoroughly believable characters. Told from multiple viewpoints but via the researcher, it was very smoothly put together. Recommended.

I genuinely don’t know what it is about this that I was so fascinated with, but I was just enthralled. The format is quirky and probably the biggest reason people will DNF this but I liked it. I don’t usually like books involving fame, but there’s something about TJR’s writing that makes it so interesting. The characters were so alive, the plot was emotion filled and really packed a punch. I fell in love with this whole story. ⁣⁣⁣

The format is completely conversation transcripts and for that reason it reads like non-fiction. Almost as if it is a real biography (and according to google, many people think it is 😂). Therefore, if you tend to stray away from these kinds of books you also may not like this one. ⁣⁣⁣

Overall, I loved this one - maybe even as much as Evelyn Hugo and I cannot wait to see what Taylor Jenkins Reid comes up with next. ⁣⁣⁣

Written like a music documentary, this book consists of interviews with the members of the once world-famous band "Daisy Jones & The Six" and the people around them during their meteoric rise and the dramatic break-up of the band just as they reached the height of their fame. It paints a highly evocative picture the sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll lifestyle that the band enjoyed - and which almost destroyed some of them.

The book feels inherently filmic, so it’s no surprise that it’s being made into TV series.
