It took me a few to really get into the book but once I did, I really enjoyed it. The unlike couple make the story much more interesting and the added family dynamic was entertaining

I enjoyed this one. The journey, depth of characters. The title was a little weird but the tale more than made up for it!

I enjoyed this short story. Burrowes brings characters to life with rich detail. Henrietta is true to herself and is willing to make her own way in life. Michael has had to work hard and can see things differently as the new baron. Together they pave their own way. Respect for Christmas is a great, cute Christmas read. I would recommend if you are looking for a quick historical read.

I originally read this book when is was part of a boxed set. It's a sweet story of two lonely people who come to understand the true meaning of Christmas. A very uplifting second chance story of love and redemption and a quick read.

This was a cute Christmas novella.

I really liked the main characters in this one especially Henrietta. She is a retired courtesan who is full of spunk and self respect which I loved! It was so interesting because she could care for herself and she doesn't need to get married to afford her life. Also I loved Henrietta's maid!

As for the hero of this story Micheal, I enjoyed that he was raised to his position and for most of his life he had to work. Now he is a viscount and has different types of responsibilities. I loved how he respected Henrietta and her decisions though the whole trying to steal from her a certain keepsake from a past lover of Henrietta made me cringe a bit!

Overall this is a quick, cute Christmas read and I would recommend it if you want a quick historical romance read!

Grace Burrowes leads us on a Regency romp in novella Respect for Christmas. Henrietta Whitlow has retired from being a highly successful courtesan and is heading for her family's home for Christmas. Lord Michael Brennan has been commissioned to retrieve something from her for the nobleman whose business he had managed. In their Christmas encounter they become involved; can romance with ulterior motives survive?

This is a quick and sweet holiday romance, featuring a former courtesan on her way back home to her estranged father and a newly minted baron tasked with stealing a book from her. 

I love the way the relationship between Henrietta and Michael develops. Michael needs to steal a book from Henrietta in order to settle a debt of honour, and I love how torn he was over his sense of duty and his growing feelings for Henrietta. I also love how he wins Henrietta over by simply listening to her. At one point, she reflects that she had a soft spot for one of her former clients because of his best feature: his ears, and yet Michael had him beat by far.

There's a bit of matchmaking from their respective coachmen, who recognize that their employers will likely have a lonely holiday ahead -- Henrietta because her father has disowned her for her profession and Michael because his sisters live far away. But this mostly seemed unnecessary as Michael and Henrietta appeared to need no help in falling for each other!

Respect for Christmas is a novella (fairly short at 96 pages), and I admit I ended up wishing we had more time to explore Michael and Henrietta's stories. But overall, it's a really sweet romance, and a nice quick read for the holidays.

Warm little holiday story the fits Burrowes' usual pattern of humor and great character-building. At less than a hundred pages, however, do not expect much chemistry between the two primaries.

This is a very sweet, historical novella that is tangentially related to a Grace Burrowes series, but can be read as a standalone. Our heroine is a former courtesan who is determined to live a quiet, respectable life, and secretly longs to reconcile with the family who disowned her. Our hero is a lonely man with many responsibilities, who is coerced into stealing something from the heroine, but can't help falling for her at the same time.

In classic Burrowes fashion, the main characters do their best to help each other defeat villains and overcome past injustices, and the ending is satisfying for everyone. A charming Christmas read.

A strange title that only becomes clear as you read the story. Henrietta Whitlow and Michael Brenner do quite dance in this charming novella. Family and the importance of family is at the heart of the story. Of course it is a love story and there are problems and perceptions that must be resolved. That is where the respect comes in. A very nice Christmas tale.

Grace Burrowes has that special ability to take the most ordinary of people and challenge you to feel for their suffering and challenges. Henrietta and Michael have the beginning of a very special relationship. They meet by chance at an inn and decide to travel together due to circumstances beyond their control. Both are at a crossroads in their lives. Henrietta is determined to take control of her life away from men and her life as a courtesan to begin to rebuild a life that is all that is proper. Or, at least as proper as it can be. Michael, as a newly minted baron, wants to begin his life on the estate he purchased. He wants to build a family and have his siblings and their families around him from time to time.

Wait - as we realize from the letter woven throughout this budding romance, there is more going on than we were lead to believe. It really is not a chance meeting. We see Henrietta and Michael love, then separate, but neither really let's go of the other. They loved and trusted in the short time together that was beyond a typical relationship. Their openness with each other could have been for a lifetime, except for the hurt caused by a long ago relationship.

This sweet tale and the love that blossomed will pull at your heart strings and leave you rooting for love and happily ever after. It's a quick read with all the ingredients for a special afternoon, Christmas read.

Lord Michael Brenner, Baron Angelford, is sitting in a nearly empty inn watching the innkeeper attempt to turn away a red-haired woman named Henrietta Whitlow saying she is not welcome there. When Michael sees the innkeeper’s ire, he offers Miss Whitlow and her companion the use of his rooms. It appears that the woman is London’s most well-known courtesan.

Dining together, they learn more about one another. Henrietta is heading to Oxfordshire for the holidays as she always does. As they both know her profession, she informs Michael that she has decided to quit it. What surprises and pleases Henrietta the most is the way he treats her. He does not leer at her or act as if he is after her favors.

When the coachmen for Michael and for Henrietta, who have long been friends, decide to make their employers’ Christmas happy and special, things brighten up. They share one coach as they continue their journey to Oxfordshire. Henrietta is hoping that this will be the Christmas that her father will forgive her and welcome her back into the family after so many years. The hope of that and the relationship with Michael that is blooming may lead to the respect she has always wanted.

This was a simple little Christmas romance. I didn’t really find anything that spectacular about the story. Unfortunately. during that time period, a courtesan simply did not have respect because you just can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear. But, it made for a nice little story for Christmas.

Light. Jolly. A fun holiday read. Respect for Christmas  is a classic sweet romance with all those good old-fashioned Christmas themes that make us feel so good. Redemption and grace. Forgiveness and second chances. You now the ones. Respect for Christmas is a relatively short novella so if you're looking for something Christmasy and quick you might want to pick this one up.

This is a story of a former courtesan, Henrietta, who meets Michael, a newly appointed baron on their way to their families to celebrate Christmas. This was a nice heartwarming novella. Though sometimes novellas feel very short, this one felt sufficient. Both Henrietta and Michael are struggling with their families. They wanted acceptance and forgiveness from them. Along their trip they get to know each other and Henrietta likes that Michael treats her like a lady even if he knows about her previous profession. They were both very likeable and how they helped each other in the end was very sweet.

A short and sweet romantic novella especially if read during the Christmas season but can be enjoyed any time.
Henrietta, a courtesan, has retired from London and is traveling to her estranged family in the country. Along the way she “accidentally” meets Baron Angelford, Lord Michael Brenner. He is acting on another’s behalf, seeking an item in Henrietta’s possession. Little did they know what this accident would ultimately provide for them both.
Author presents this story in an unique way from the usual boy meets girl theme.

A charming Burrowes novella featuring a secondary character from a previous story. I happen to have read that story already, but you truly don’t need to read that to understand this. I love that both main characters are adults who have baggage and are therefore non-judgemental. They share their histories but don’t make excuses for their decisions.

I also liked the scenes featuring this story’s secondary characters, with their thoughts and impressions on our heroine and hero.

A sweet and heartwarming short story about family and forgiveness.
Traveling home for Christmas retired courtesan Henrietta Whitlow encounters newly minted Baron Michael Brenner. Attempting to settle a debt of honor, Michael sets out to seduce Henrietta and retrieve a scandalous book of poetry and sketches in her possession. Wonderful characters, lively dialog, a dash of intrigue and of course just the right about of spice.

Michael and Henrietta. Michael is a recently rewarded Baron with a poor Irish childhood. Henrietta is a country girl who comes to London for service and ends up being a sought after courtesan. What brings them together is a journal written by the man who hired Henrietta and then seduced her. He wants the journal back to avoid any embarrassing repucissions. Michael owes him a favor and is sent to retrieve it.
While I found the journal part troubling as he carefully wrote down his plans to seduce Henrietta, the rest of the story of Michael and Henrietta was delightful. Grace Burrowes has a gift for dialogue and makes the characters’ personalities come alive.
A thoroughly good read of love, family, and redemption.
