Wow! Maybe my favorite from Coben! I was on the edge of my seat from the very beginning and found myself questioning what I would do if I were in the same situation. A must read!

Harlan Coben remains the master of domestic suspense. His books focus on normal families facing abnormal, even disturbing, circumstances. Run Away is no different in that respect.

When Simon Greene, the protagonist, finds his junkie, college drop-out daughter busking in Central Park, an altercation breaks out. Captured on iPhone video, it goes viral and he is seen as a villain, an example of corporate American oppression. But when faced with a murder and then the disappearance of his daughter, Greene has to descend into the depths of his daughter’s life in an attempt to find and rescue her.

Mixed into this major plot line, is a frumpy private investigator looking into the disappearance of a Chicago man. When their paths cross, Green and the PI seek to work together. But neither is aware of the depths or history of the mystery facing them. And neither is aware of the ultimate cost of solving it.

Everyone has secrets. Families even more so. And this book slowly reveals those secrets until the biggest ones are disclosed on the final pages. This is a fast-paced suspense thriller, that is engrossing and engaging. I did not figure out all the connections until they were explained in the climax. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves suspense mysteries.

I received this book as a free pre-publication galley version in return for an honest review.

When you want the truth, there can’t be secrets …except one!

Genre: mystery

Synopsis: Simon hadn’t seen his daughter in six months. She ran away and got into heavy drugs. But, he wouldn’t give up hope. He continued to visit the place she used to frequent in hopes of running into her. And then - it finally happened. He found Paige in Central Park. Though, as soon as he made contact, we ran. And for the next month, he would chase her. The secret she had been hiding sent his world spiraling. What is the truth? And what is a lie? Who can he trust? And where will this all lead?

Holy smokes! This is a whirlwind. I am such of fan of Harlan Coben’s storyteller. It’s captivating, and “Run Away” is no different. This plot line is pure adrenaline; you are literally witnessing a hot pursuit of a father attempting to save his daughter from self-disaster.

The pace is on point. The introduction of facts isn’t muddled. The back and forth between Simon, Elena, and Ash is poised. And the character development is terrific! I love how Cohen so seamlessly introduces characters and then phases them out with tact.

The ending was GOLD! I mean, shoot son (you will get the pun if you read this). Wow. That was just a revelation.

Highly recommended! Also, I would recommend most HC books! Thank you, NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for my copy in exchange for this review.

Slight spoiler: I docked one star because the whole “cult” angle was either not adapted enough for me to find it believable or it just simply wasn’t jiving with me.

Harlan Coben books are perfection to me!! He is an amazing story teller and from page one he transports me to a world that I am sad to leave at the end. His books are truly genius and always keeps me guessing until the last possible second. Run Away is no different. I was engrossed until page one and could not put down until I got all the answers!
I look forward to reading more from Harlan!

A mystery thriller that keeps you guessing, RUN AWAY, by Harlan Coben, is the story of about Simon Greene, who is searching for his missing daughter. As Simon digs deeper into her disappearance, secrets are revealed that Simon couldn't even fathom discovering.
Coben has become a master at writing a good thriller. Anyone who has read Coben before knows the setup and how their are going to be several major and often bizarre twists along the way and even though you know its coming, it's pleasantly familiar and existing to see where Coben's head will take the reader this time. Realistically flawed and still quite likeable characters fill the pages of the book and Coben challenges the reader in RUN AWAY to consider what is more important, family or trust; and how does the importance of one inform the other. Dry humor is effectively thrown in to break the tension periodically and Coben leaves the reader with a satisfying ending and a hope that the protagonists will live a happy life.
Fast and fun, RUN AWAY kept me glued to the story and I found it hard to put down. For a Coben book, this one doesn't disapoint and I encourage anyone considering reading any book by Harlan Coben to grab this one first, you won't regret it.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book. I've read everything Harlan Coben has written. He's a great author and this book is no exception. I love the way everything flows together but you're never sure of how it's all going to work out until the end when it finally gets explained to you. Another great read by Harlan Coben.

I loved it!!! What a page turner!!! Book was intense from the first page till the last one. Father, Simon Greene is looking for his junky daughter Paige Greene. He blames her boyfriend Aaron Corval for his daughter to become an addict. When he finally finds her Aaron again make sure that Simon won’t make any contact with Paige. Then boyfriend ends up dead. Who killed him? Why? Does Paige have something to do with it or maybe it was father? Is much, much more than that with more twists and turns, more secrets and lies. I will absolutely read more books by Harlan Coben.

Thank you to NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This book has all of the components of a good thriller. It kept me on my toes throughout, and I was guessing until the end. I did find at times that there were too many plot lines, and the ending felt a bit like a reach. But overall, it was a fast-paced, enjoyable read! Will definitely be finding more of his books!

I know while reading the first page of a book if it's going to be one I can't put down. That's the way it was from the very first page of this latest Harlan Coben novel. This is the story of a family facing one of the hardest things they have to deal with, a drug addicted daughter who has gone missing. This novel is filled with so many twists and turns, murder, cults, sexual assault on campus, you will not be able to put it down... you will not figure the ending out, it will surprise you. Take this journey with Simon and his family, you won't be able to put it down.
Harlan Coben is a master storyteller and this novel proves it again!
Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for approving me for this book.

Thank you to Grand Central Publishing and Netgalley for letting me read Coben’s newest title in exchange for an honest review.

Simon and Ingrid has lost their daughter to drugs and an abusive boyfriend, and can’t find her anywhere. With a little intel, Simon sees Paige performing in a park. When he approaches his daughter, she bolts. With this glimpse of Paige, Simon is more focused than ever on finding her and hopefully bringing her back home. He knows better than to rely on the police so he uses his own ways and means to track Paige down.

Coben, as usual, masterfully layers plots and subplots to create a tasty read. His three-dimensional character sketches let you blame almost anyone in the book for what’s happening. I did not guess the ending and I dare you to try.

Coben is one of my favorite thriller writers and I read all his standalones. Many critics say this is best work yet. I don’t know if I’d say that, but it was darn good.

Having read all of Harlan Coben's books, I'd have to say this might be the best one yet. So many secrets for one family though it was real. I read this in a day and could not put the book down. There were so many twists and turns, and was a quick read! I loved how Hester made a reappearance as the lawyer. Thank you for the advanced copy. Our library will definitely purchase this title.

Run Away by Harlan Coben is a compelling, very highly recommended domestic thriller and intricate mystery. This one is a fast-moving page-turner!

Financial adviser Simon Greene and his pediatrician wife Ingrid have three children, Paige, Sam, and Anya, and from outward appearances they live a comfortable life. The problem is that they haven't seen their drug addicted daughter, Paige, ever since she dropped out of college and disappeared with her loser junkie/dealer boyfriend Aaron Corval. When Simon is told a friend saw an emaciated Paige playing her guitar and pan handling in Central Park, he keeps an eye out for her, finds out when she plays there, and approaches her after her "set." She ran away from him and Simon follows. When he tries to stop Paige, she starts yelling. Aaron appears, and steps in to stop him, but Simon punches him out, trying to follow Paige. By-standers intervened and Simon is arrested. The whole event was recorded on phones and spun as the evil rich guy beating up a poor homeless guy.

Simon deals with all the attention and legal questions, coming out with no charges, when another cop shows up at his office months later with a few questions. Aaron has been murdered and Paige is nowhere to be found. This sets Aaron and Ingrid on a quest to find Paige and keep her safe from whoever killed Aaron. Simon's search leads him to some surprising, dark and threatening places and contacting people he normally wouldn't. Soon his search for Paige is even more complicated, precarious, and dangerous than even Simon realizes.

Run Away has it all. The writing is pitch-perfect; the plot is complicated, intricate, and fast-moving; the characters are interesting and well-developed. The pages will fly by in this lightening-paced-stay-up-until-you-finish-it thriller. (And I drank an extra-large cup of coffee after work to do just that.) As the twisty mystery unfolds in Simon's search and becomes increasingly complex, it leads to unexpected answers and more investigation. I was surprised at the satisfying final ending. Coben's writing is excellent as is his plot and pacing. I really enjoyed this whole novel right up to the final denouement.

All the characters are well developed and realistic. Simon is a wonderful character - a loving, caring father who would do anything to try to save his daughter. Simon finds himself in the midst of something that is more treacherous than he even knows, but he perseveres, even when circumstances mean he needs some extra encouragement to do so, in order to reach the final answers.

Run Away is an exceptional taut thriller and the perfect choice for escapism!

I was quite disappointed in Harlan Coben’s newest book, Run Away. The plot became so unbelievable and forced. That being said it was fast paced and I read to the end. Just not my favorite read.

Another absolute winner by Coben. He consistently at the top of his game, and this new one is no exception! Stop reading this and go get this book! :)

I have read almost all of Harlen Coben's books and I found myself skimming this one. The plot was fairly predictable and the story quite slow. Hope to see him go back to laster more addictive pace in the future.

I have a bit of an embarrassing announcement to make 😕 See, I call myself a lover of all books mystery/thriller/suspense. But there are a lot of wonderful, popular authors out there who write books in this genre I’ve never read. One of them being...Harlan Coben 🙈 And WHY am I 300 years behind the times and just now picking up a book by him? I have no clue...but I’ll definitely be reading more by him now! ⁣

When Simone Greene’s daughter Paige goes off to college, he and his wife couldn’t be more proud. She’s smart and has an amazing future in front of her. However, Paige soon meets a boy named Aaron and they begin taking hard drugs together. Paige drops out of college and falls off the deep end, her life becoming a mess of drugs and lies. Simon and his wife decide they can no longer help Paige after giving her so many chances. But one day Simon sees a drugged out girl play the guitar in the park and immediately realizes it’s Paige. His parental instinct to help his daughter comes flooding over him and he decides its time once and for all to save Paige. But there will be a price to pay. A huge price full of secrets, lies, and murder. Just how far will a father go to save his daughter? And will the truths he finds out destroy him or will he be able to go on? ⁣

This book was stellar. Harlan Coben is a great writer—so descriptive I felt like a movie was unfolding right before my eyes. The plot had lots of twists and they all came together perfectly at the end (a few secrets I didn’t see coming!). The only thing I didn’t like about this book (and this is just me personally) was that there was a bit more action-packed violence than I usually like. But don’t let that deter you, again that’s just a personal choice and doesn’t take away from the story at all!! ⁣

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes a fast-paced, action-filled, thriller with lots of twists and turns!
