We met Alice and Dan in earlier books in the Blessings, GA series, but Forever My Hero is their story. Both lost their spouses in explosions and have found it difficult to heal, but they both felt an attraction soon after meeting in the local hardware store where Alice works. Dan lost his son in the explosion, and quickly became fond of Alice’s two children. Their relationship moved forward quickly when a hurricane was approaching Blessings and Dan asked Alice and her children to stay with him during the hurricane since he had a generator to provide power.

The hurricane provided a way for the author to bring readers current with the lives of characters from earlier books in the series, while moving forward with Alice and Dan’s story. By the time the hurricane was over, Dan had proposed, and Alice had accepted much to her children’s happiness. Now on to the next book in the series...

This was a nice story wherein characters from previous books of the series are mentioned, but this can be easily read as a standalone. (The only other book of the series I've read is Book 4 A Piece of My Heart) This tells the story of the pairing up of Dan and Alice. Dan helps Alice overcome some hurdles: injury, weather and bullying. They both get a second chance in life at love.
I have no problem with consensual sex scenes (very mild here), but in contemporary stories I find it very odd and a bit disturbing if there is absolutely no thought or discussion regarding safer sex and birth control, especially in the case of such mature characters.
Overall I enjoyed reading this, although I felt the dialog was in parts awkward and unnatural - even for a small town in Georgia.

Sweet, small town romance…

Blessings, Georgia is a small snippet of the world, within it all the good and bad it has to offer. Dan and Alice have both seen pain and loss, moving forward in a new home, surrounded by new friends and, if they’re lucky, love. With a hurricane and a violent assault acting as the backdrop to their new relationship, a new family is forged among the ruins....

I love this author’s ability to bring small, and large, events to life with singing emotion and heart. Whether the tremble of new love or the despair of loss I felt each happy and sorrow-filled moment.

Each character brought something unique to the story, whether it was the strength to move on and recover or the moral struggle that life forces us to take. And this small town is full to the brim with people who breathe life, character and drama into it. I honestly wish it existed in more than pages…

It was great to return to Blessings, Georgia and catch up with all the townspeople. The book jumps around a bit checking in on different people from previous stories in the series which makes it a bit disjointed. It took a while to get to Dan and Alice's story.

However, once it did I thoroughly enjoyed it. Both Dan and Alice's spouses died as a result of explosions, and they have a lot of history to accept and start a new relationship. I love Me Sala's descriptions of the town. You can imagine walking down Main St and seeing the businesses which helps focus on the story. I would have preferred the characters were woven into Dan and Alice's story rather than having chapters dedicated to them. It would have raised my rating to 4 stars!

I received a free ARC eBook from Netgalley and the publisher for an honest review.

Forever My Hero by Sharon Sala. 5 stars

It is wonderful news when I get to visit Blessings, Georgia again. I downloaded this book on as soon as I got the notice and it did not disappoint. I have been a fan of Sharon Sala since her days at Silhouette Books and this series has been fantastic. I did not really get into this series until the second book so it was great to see Dori and Johnny Pine again. Several of the characters from past books are either supporting characters or have cameos in this recent book. I would call this a story of second chances and karmic justice. The hero, Don Amos came to Blessings after surviving a tragedy that took the life of his wife and child. Alice is a widowwho is down on her luck with two children but who is getting on her feet with the help of the town. Both Alice and Don were minor characters in the last novel, Come Back to Me. I cannot wait for the next book, A Rainbow Above Us, that will come out in June.

Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebook Casablanca for this ARC.

Forever My Hero is really the story of Dan & Alice. There are some other secondary stories but the main thread is how their pasts are similar & how they come together. I love that they both are in the same place in life when they meet. They both have experienced tragedies that have deprived them of loved ones but they are past the worst of the grief & ready to love again. Patty & Charlie, Alice’s children, add another dimension to the story and it was wonderful that they were able to accept Dan into their lives before everything became serious. The trouble that Patty had at school was a perfect teacher by point & really illustrated our society today. Gossip is seldom based in truth & shouldn’t be relied on as such. Throw in some crime, a hurricane, injuries to loved ones & you have a fast paced story that keeps your attention throughout.

If you have ever read any of Sharon Sala’s books about the small town of Blessings, Georgia, you’ll know what you’re getting here. This is a small town made up of interesting people, most of whom are truly good people. They will go out of their way to help someone who needs it and to just do the right thing. Unfortunately, there are some selfish and cruel people, but they always get what is coming to them in the end.

This story is about two heartbroken people trying to make the best of things after personal tragedies. They share the tragedy of having spouses who died in explosions. Alice Conroy is trying her best to make a life for herself to take care of her two children. Don Amos is the hero of the title and book. His wife and son died years ago and he left his job as a Dallas prosecutor and moved to Blessings to recover. He can’t help being attracted to Alice and wanting to help her and her very lovable children. When a hurricane attacks the Southeast, he offers to bring them to his home which is much safer. There they will find out if they can make a new family after all that they have gone through.

I really enjoy my time reading about this town. Each time, Sala pulls me in and I wish that I could live in a such a kind and thoughtful community.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review. This is another heartwarming book about the town of Blessings. Those who have read the series will remember Alice and her family due to their dogs heroic search and rescue previously in the series. Alice has befriended Dan who also list his spouse and is trying to recover in Blessing. Their relationship starts out more as a friendship but blooms through mutual respect and love. Alice’s children Charlie and Patty have also been through a lot and the love that Dan shows there helps them heal from the death of their father. You also see a lot of familiar characters as the story centers around a hurricane that sweeps through the town and how each person handles it. The beginning was a little rough due to a strange twist but all is soon revealed . This is a nice quick read with lots of tender moments. 5 stars

This is a great series and I loved going back to Blessings. This story mainly focuses on Dan and Alice. Both have lost spouses. Dan lost his wife and son to an attack targeted at him. Alice lost her husband when he blew up their house while cooking meth. Neither are looking for love, but a hurricane brings them together.

I love this series. The stories are filled with great characters and the endings leave you with a smile on your face. This book could be read as a stand alone, but this is a great series if you are looking for a feel good read. I look forward to my next trip to the little town of Blessings.

This is another great addition to the Blessings, Georgia series. I've read quite a few of them and haven't been disappointed at all. I really enjoyed the chemistry of the main characters, Dan and Alice. The story was heartfelt and engaging. Definitely recommended!

This is the seventh book in the Blessings, Georgia series by Ms. Sala. when I received an invitation from the publisher, via Net-Galley, I eagerly accepted since I’d read the previous books and enjoyed them. My opinions are my own and are not influenced in any way.

I quickly became vested in the characters and the plot. The pacing is good and there was no sagging middle, which is a very good thing. One thing I did find disconcerting was a lot of head hopping. sometimes from one sentence to the next. that is the main reason I gave this book a little lower rating.

Alice is a wonderful heroine with all the characteristics I most admire. She has a fearless spirit, and while she has great reason to want to give up, she does not. She is an amazing mother, fiercely protective of her children, determined to give them the best. Although, she had a rough marriage with her late husband, she is willing to open her heart to love again.

Dan is a great hero. he is an honorable guy who doesn’t allow his tragic past to color his view of the world. I liked the way he looks out for others, including Alice. I truly admired him a great deal and wanted him to find his happy ending.

The romance between the hero and heroine is sweet, and even though it moved quickly, it still felt right. The chemistry is strong and very pleasing. The love scene is well written and enjoyable.

If you enjoy a story with engaging characters and an intriguing plot, then you will enjoy Forever my Hero. While I am not overly fond of Ms. Sala’s head hopping and giving so many characters a point of view, I will definitely read more books by her. Happy reading!

I love this series - it is a sweet romance series that touches my heart each time I read one of the books. This book focused on newcomer Dan Amos and Alice Conroy. Both have had tragedy in their lives but that made their union even that much sweeter.

Blessings GA is in for a rough ride as a hurricane is on its way and the town is right in its the path. While no one is safe from this national disaster it was nice to see how the citizens of this town come together to help each other when all was said and done. There are several that discovered that the path they were on was going to lead to their downfall and righted their path once they realized they did not like who they were becoming.

While the story focused on Dan and Alice, there was no shortage of other characters you will remember from the other books.

Usually I have an idea of who the next book might be about but I have no idea who to expect the focus to be on in the next installment. Maybe Lovey, the owner of Granny's diner. She ran into some problems in this book from the hurricane but thankfully has the whole town plus Ruby and Peanut to help her out.

Unfortunately, I was not able to finish this book. The writing was a little too stilted for me. The dialog and characters seemed very flat and I just couldn't get into it.

A lovely addition to the Blessings series. We first met Alice and her family in #5 and boy her story pulled at the heartstrings. Her family is now living in a better home and she still has her job in the hardware store. Along comes Dan who too is overcoming his own heartache of losing a spouse and a child. Dan is overseeing rental properties and often goes to the hardware store to get items and begins to build a friendly conversations with Alice as he goes in there. As they getting to know each other a few incidents bring them closer faster than anyone of them would have seen coming. Alice daughter Patty goes missing from a school trip, Alice has an accident with a cutter and then there is a hurricane. As with previous title in the series we get sub characters and past storylines. A wonderful addition to the series. Review on goodreads and amazon.

This was my first book read by Sharon Sala, so it was a wonderful introduction to her work. I don’t think I can recall reading a book that had so much going on as it did but it came together beautifully bringing a story that showed the power and strength of a community that really lives up to it’s name, Blessings.

I guess I can say the heart of the book dealt with two people who when you open your heart, wonderful things can happened unexpectedly. Dan, came to Blessings in the hopes of escaping a personal tragedy. He had lost his wife and son and wanted to try and find a place to establish new roots. He wasn’t looking for love but somehow, life put him in the path of someone who needed to be in that place and time, walks in Alice.

Alice, a mother of two, lost her husband to addiction that ultimately led to her own tragedy. She was definitely not in the market for someone new but found her path cross with Dan and saw the possibility of hope and compassion of a man who was persistent in following where his heart was leading him.

Both similar in devastation, brought together by fate, we experience their journey of how to let go and let in, the mending two broken hearts, and the affirmation that love can be found again.

There are other characters in the book that have their own unique storyline but ultimately they all blend together making the novel whole. This is the seventh book in her Blessings, Georgia series. I haven’t read the previous so I don’t know how they affect this book but I did find it be a charming read. I enjoyed how all the storylines came together. I’m a bit curious to know the past so I am going to back read into the series and will look forward to the next. I really love those small town community novels that have heart and soul to their characters. For those who feel the same, I know you will like. I’m going to recommend to this one to your list.
