I wanted to like this book. It had promise but by the middle I was bored. It could have been great, the characters just fell flat for me.

Thank you Netgalley and the Publisher for my ARC in exchange for my honest review. This was an enjoyable book.

I was intrigued by the synopsis of the book. But the book in real was just a mix of tropes we're all aware and read too much of. Couldn't find anything new or real about this.

This is highly problematic in a lot of things but it's also a mess of a book in a technical way. Time passes without the reader barely noticing, sometimes too much is happening and sometimes nothing really happens. The main character is pretty unlikable and that dramatic ending seems completely unneccesary.

Annie has longed to feel those butterflies in in tummy and be with the love of her life. She thought she found him senior year of high school. Things just didn't work out that way until she met Holden. Holden is a college baseball player who gets injured during the game Annie watched. Holden and Annie start to build a life together. First, she finally admits to loving him and moves in with him. It takes Holden awhile for Annie to trust him. He's patient. Over time, things change. They take each other for granted--move apart emotionally. But they still love each other.

Annie is offered a job back home in Seattle. She thinks this is what they need to get back on track. Space especially after they both just suffered a tragedy together. Instead of this tragedy bringing them closer together--it pulls them further apart. Annie runs into her high school sweetheart, Seth.

Holden asks her to return home. Yet another tragedy strikes. She realizes how deeply she cares for Holden.

This book was a tear jerker but not really the kind of book I enjoy. I hope some of you will truly love it!

First, a big thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book to review. I am a bit conflicted with this book, even though I enjoyed it immensely. First we had Annie and Seth (who I thought was the love of her life.). Then we had a little taste of Annie and Colin (was that the love of her life?). Then we got Annie and Holden (was he really the love of her life?). Annie was just not a very likeable character to me. She was indecisive and mean to her loves. She complained of being unloved yet she committed the ultimate sin. The ending was a little contrived and left much to be desired. In terms of flow, it got a little confusing when it appeared that Annie was talking to us as if the future. I just expected more from the blurb but ultimately not bad.

I loved this one until the end. I did not like the ending at all. It ruined how I felt about the characters.

Kleine Gardrobiere trifft Superstar. Altbekannte Geschichte, die aber mit viel Witz und Charme erzählt wird! Romantisches für Zwischendurch!

This one was kind of hard for me.

The writing was smooth and flowed so it wasn't hard to read, it was just hard to...like ? I don't know. It was really dull for me but again i don't read a lot of romance. That being said, nothing really happened in this book. There wasn't any conflict. I mean, some fights here and there but nothing that glued you in.

The story starts with her boyfriend Seth, who I couldn't really get into. I understand he's her teenage love and everything but I just didn't fully grasp why he was so great. He was kind of flat.

Then she meets Holden but again, I never grew to like him either?? Both guys seem interchangeable....maybe if I liked the characters more this wouldn't have been such a slow read for me.

Anyway, while with Holden she still thinks about Seth which is wild because they dated in highschool and now we're talking after college, while she's a full grown adult women. It has been YEARS. YEEEARS. It was just kind of sad.

I don't know. Everyone in this book was annoying and it lacked a plot *shrugs*

This book took me back to my high school days, for sure. It’s about young love and romance. And then old love and romance. I really enjoyed this one a lot.

Annie, Our lead protagonist suffers the loss of love from her high school boyfriend to her own parents. Annie seems doomed to be rejected at every opportunity. Then she gets an unexpected chance at Harvard and starts a new life for herself. Annie eventually finds love, marriage, infidelity, success, love, and loss. This book was simplistic and the flow of the story is jerky and uneven. I appreciate the read but some fine-tuning would make this story stronger.

Because You‘re the Love of My Life
by Sarah Kleck

Because You’re the Love of my life, is a quick read. The title makes a person think that there would be a love in someone’s life; I was hoping the two main character would get back together and would get their happily ever after. But, it is an account of a young woman's struggles through various stages of life; from the teen years to adulthood with normal human flaws, with all the ups and downs and the thrills and stumbles through: love, loss, and figuring out who she is, including s touch of a steamy romance along the way; which makes everything that much more touching. How she felt growing up unloved with such negativity and her yearning for an unconditional love and finding the ability to break away from everything.

Sarah Kleck's characters are well and has real and touching feeling to her book. The readers get the feelings of the characters deep emotions on every page, feel the thrill and excitement of first loves, and the struggles and pain that life can bring; that no matter how bad things get, there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.
I really liked this book in the beginning; but, it dragged and would skip large chunks of time between chapters, throughout the book. I really enjoy relationships of the main character when she went off to Harvard; but, I had mixed feelings by about the book by the time I was done. I like a happy ending; so, I didn’t care for the ending at all, and that is way I can honestly only give a 3.5-star rating. I received an ARC in return of my honest feeling of the book. Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Because You're the Love of My Life tells the story Annie"s life starting in high school in to her late 20's. Annie's relationship with her parents is complicated, her mother is always treating her as if she's a burden, while her father hides and excuses her mother's behavior. Annie's high school boyfriend breaks up with her shortly after he leaves for college, feeling confused and abandoned she has to move on with her life. Without the support of her parents Annie moves to Massachusetts to attend Harvard, where she meets Holden. After an embarrassing and unfortunate incident in a pharmacy Holden and Annie start dating. They graduate from college, remaining together, they realize adult life was not what they thought it was going to be. Challenges with work, communication and extended family members are all things they have to learn to work through. After a trip back home for her grandmother's funeral Annie can't help but wonder about Seth and what he's doing. Using social media, Annie and Seth reconnect while she's away on business, but still married to Holden. Feeling jealous of Seth and his adventures, and feeling stuck in an unhappy marriage, Annie makes a huge mistake she's not sure Holden can forgive.

I really struggled with this book, I wanted to love it. Initially it didn't grab me, I opted to skim it for several chapters. I understand that the background information about Annie and Seth is important to the story, but I just couldn't relate to them as high school students. I kept waiting for the big plot twist, the turning point in the story where things would begin to look up. It never did, if you're looking for a book with an HEA, this is the opposite. I was disappointed in Annie and Holden's lack of communication, and how he wouldn't defend her to his mom. I was also disappointed in her decision regarding Seth. And then the ending happened. It's not a terrible book, I prefer books with an HEA and little bit of happy, this book had very little happy and too much real life for me.

This is the first book that I have read from this author. The first few chapters were throwing me off to where I almost didn’t want to finish the story because I was unable to connect with the characters but I’m glad that I did. As a whole, Sarah did a good job of telling the story of marriage, relationships and family. I loved the story. I loved the characters.

This made me cry a lot because it’s so realistic and I’m speechless and cannot even find words to describe how beautiful this book is. Annie tells her story of love, of love lost, of love found, and of all the emotion the love entails.

As this book isn’t officially out yet I won’t post any “spoilers” other than to say that this is a story of Annie and Holden. Life’s ups and downs, struggles and triumphs, and the Love of Your Life. This is a MUST read and it is a keeper in my personal library for me as I will return to re-read it again down the road.

Rating: ★★★★★

Would have preferred to have the characters be a bit more fleshed out. It was an ok read but unfortunately I expected a little more. The love story was sweet but unfullfing for me. It was nice to spend time in Annie's world but it never shook me up

I had a lot of difficulty getting into this book. I really like reading new adult romances, but this didn’t really feel like a new adult romance to me.

The story begins with the main character getting ready for the prom and going to the prom. It gives a lot of background information about her and her current (high school) boyfriend. But I couldn’t connect with the characters at all. Then there was the typical bitchy ex-girlfriend I trod I’ve and that’s when I began to turn out of the story. I really don’t like characters who villainize others. And I feel as thought the evil ex-girlfriend is a book trope that is way overdone and unrealistic. What’s more? The main point of the story in the synopsis had nothing to do with the situation.

The synopsis talks about a girl who is leaving her home to become independent and striking out on her own away from her abusive family, when she meets some one whi she can fall in love with.

But I’m the story she is just going to college. College is not unique and special, like the synopsis made it sound. It is completely normal. Nearly everyone I know has gone away for college. So the story did not meet the expectations that I had for it based on the marketing.

And her relationship with Seth (high school boyfriend) and the prom don’t seem to be in anyway connected with Holden (the guy she meets in college) and going to college. It just felt disjointed and the part did not seem necessary and should have been cut from the book entirely.

Lastly, I could not connect with the writing style at all. I felt like an outsider hearing the story being summarized by some else, when all I wanted was to be in the thick of it.

Because of these reasons I did not finish reading the book to the end. For that reason, I’m not comfortable posting this review to goodreads or amazon.

Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet, romantic and the story line was great! I recommend! Good book and kept my attention but it was a little weird that the timeline jumped a lot

Because You’re the Love of My Life is a heartbreaker romance that will make you cry as Annie tells her story of love, of love lost, of love found, and of all the emotion the love entails. It is a lovely but heart squeezing story that totally touched me.

Nothing about this book was good. The characters were unsympathetic, the point of view and timeline were confusing at times, and at the end of the day I just didn't care. I finished it, but barely, and only because I forced myself.
