I unfortunately forgot to download the e-book on my kindle before it was archived and/or lost interest in the book because it’s been on my tbr for way too long, so I wasn’t able to read and review it (on time). Since I Must give a star rating, I’ve given it 3 stars to stay neutral/in the middle. Sorry to the publisher for not having gotten around to actually read it.

Quite honestly, Valiant is one of the most intriguing and fast paced science fiction books I have read in a long time. Don't get me wrong I have read books that have had me feeling like I was a part of that world but Valiant had a different feel. From page one Valiant takes off and doesn't slow down for a moment. Valiant was a page turner that had me flying through the pages with my heart pounding to find out what was going to happen next.

DNF @ 30%

I tried, I really tried but I just couldn't do it. The cover of this book is breathtaking and from the synopsis this definitely sounded like the type of book I'd enjoy. I've started this book a couple times but most of them I didn't make it much farther than the prologue/first couple of chapters. I liked the main characters but the feel of this book seemed quite childish in the sense that all the adults are basically useless so the author can just focus on the teens/young adults. Every time I would get frustrated and give up.
This last time I made it all the way to 30% before I decided to give up for the last time. I just wasn't feeling it.. maybe I'm getting too old for YA books.

Either way, this was not the book for me.

The aliens have arrived and you better hold on! This book should come with a warning: BEWARE, YOU WILL GET NOTHING DONE ONCE YOU BEGIN

The best books always make the outside world disappear. And this book definitely does that. The MC, Sara, is stuck in a time loop, constantly repeating the events that end the world, while trying to save her brother, which isn't as easy as it sounds. Add to that some fun twists with the love interest and you've got one very entertaining read.

Valiant: A wild ride that doesn't let up after page one

I didn't like Lost Girls, but I had high hopes for this one! The romance just didn't work for me, and nothing felt fully developed for my tastes.

Action-packed, unexpected adventure around every corner. It had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't put it down I loved it that much!

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I had a lot going on in my head reading this book and it still had some after I was done. It just pulled me and I could not pull myself away from it. Sara is living in a time loop trying to save her brother. The alien invasion and the end of everything known. It was a lot to take in and I got so emotionally involved. It had me feeling a little drained once the book was over.

This certainly has a cinematic blockbuster pacing that will have you racing through this book. Unfortunately it’s lack of world building and character development means I struggled to fully engage with the story.

I dnf'd this one fairly early on. I'm not a fan of time travel stories and this one is full of it. The world building was non-existent. Had I known this had time travel, I wouldn't have tried it out.

this book is awesome, i am in love with it, the characters are awesome, easy to remember their names, their faces. You are not going to confuse any character.

The book is well written, easy to read.

The story is unique, new, awesome.

Once I started read it I cannot stop. And now that I finish it I need more.

Is a really nice story, is not the common story so I really love it and enjoy it.

My Review: The one thing that I want to say about this book is OMG THAT COVER!! I did a promo to this one a while ago and I just fell so in love with this cover. The next thing I want to let you know is that this is very heavy with the romance aspect of the story. It's not overly explicit it's just that the romance is at the forefront of the story.

This story was so full and amazing we get aliens, time travel, and other science fiction aspects and OMG this book did it so well!! I could not put it down and I was so happy to get a chance to read this. The start of this book is very fast paced and I wished it would have been a little slower. But it does serve to get the story going and get you into the story at large. That is pretty much my only issue with this book was that the start was just a little to fast.

The rest of the story and the characters were just so spot on and I loved every second of it.

Go Into This One Knowing: Heavy Romance, Scifi, Time Travel

Breakneck pacing, aliens, and time travel. This book is a page turner. It wastes no time introducing you to the near future where aliens have invaded the earth with the ability to possess humans (think Host by Stephanie Meyer with unique execution).
Sara, the MC, is trapped in a time loop until she can save her brother but in doing so she also tries to save others she cares about, including her crush.
Because it is so plot heavy, the character development and world-building take a back seat, but that just comes down to my personal preference really since I tend to fall in love with character-arc based stories rather than plot driven.
The friendships and romance were awesome though and even the side characters don’t feel flat.

3.5 stars

Agh I'm so not sure about my rating for this book!

Because on the one hand, the sci-fi aspect, the writing and the overall atmosphere were magnificent. I loved how we got to experience time travel, aliens and new technology in a distopian sociaty. It truly was incredible, I felt like I was watching a movie in my head. And moreover, it had so many little details that made the story seem a lot more real and deep. For instance, how people would react to the end of the world, what would happen to the kids and how hard it would be to trust someone.

Also, the characters and their friendship were so endearing to read about. I adored them and how much they cared about one another, that was a group that would have gone to the moon and back to make sure everyone was safe. I do have to say that my favorite character was our main character's best friend, Natalie. She was the definition of loyalty and intelligence.

If it had been for all these reasons, this book would have been a 5 stars for me but the downside is that it's heavily romantic. The romance was okay for me, it's not like I hated it but compared to the other things going on it seemed uninteresting.

So I would be hooked in everything that was happening and then a romantic scene would pop up and I lost interest, therefore it lower my enjoyment of this book overall. In my opinion, everything would have been so much better without the romance or if the romance would have been more developed because I didn't fully understand their chemestry.

Then another detail that bother me a tiny bit but that wasn't as important as the romance aspect was that this is one of those books where adults are useless. Since the first chapter they are the first ones to disappear, every single adult which was super weird when I was reading about it. However, luckily the teenagers did feel like they were able to protect themselves, it's not like they were just lucky to survive, which was a nice addition.

The Valiant was supposed to save the humans on earth, but instead, it brought about death and destruction in the form of an alien invasion. In Destefano’s version of near-future earth, humanity is on the brink of collapse thanks to various circumstances. Everyone has invested in Valiant, poor and rich alike, everyone has some sort of emotional stake in the mission that can save them and their world. The only problem is — the mission failed and now the Xua are pouring into earth, wreaking havoc, forcing humans to kill one another. At the center of it all is a 10 year old boy (I think he’s 10, I can’t remember) who can save everyone provided he doesn’t die, and a 17 year old girl who’s doing everything in her power to save him. Over and over and over again.

Valiant has such an interesting premise — alien invasion meets Groundhog Day, where Sara is continuously forced back in time to change the fate of the world. One would think that experiencing the same level of death and destruction time and time again would eventually lead to some level of desensitization, but not for Sara. The first time she sees people dying at the hands of aliens is just as horrific as the most recent time and she has to go through it until she finds the way that finally works. I was initially worried that going back and reliving the same circumstances would feel repetitive, but that’s certainly not the case. Every time Sara travels back, everything felt just as tense, just as dangerous, just as emotional as the first time.

There’s a little romance thrown in for good measure, although I will admit I wasn’t very invested in it. The relationship between Justin and Sara didn’t feel very deep and I’m chalking that up to the fact that readers aren’t given much of their history and instead are just told about their history. The ending leaves plenty of room for this to have a sequel, or even become a series, and I’m truly hoping it does because I want their history. I loved them both as singular characters, and I want to love them as a couple, but I can’t at this point.

Bottom line — Valiant was fast-paced and incredibly action packed, full of creepy aliens and characters that you’ll grow to love. Definitely a dark tale of survival, complete with the requisite violence and destruction, but the relationship between Sara and her brother, and the bit of romance between Sara and Justin really helped to brighten things up. I’m really hoping for a sequel or for this to become a series because I’d like to see more of the characters and perhaps get a bit more of their history.

Unfortunately, this was not a favorite of mine. I had a lot of issues with believability and voice, and the plot overall.

It wasn’t for me. LOTS of action and a lot happening. Very fast-paced. REALLY good plot twist though, it really threw me.

The Valiant ship launched into space was supposed to be the Earth’s savior, but instead it invited an alien species named Xua into their world with the intent to dominate and destroy. Sara has been tasked with going back in time to save her brother, the key to winning the war, by a leader in the alien rebellion.
✨✨✨✨
Right as the story begins, you are bombarded with action. At first I felt a little overwhelmed with all of the action and onslaught of characters, but it quickly leveled out. I don’t know if I just was missing it, but I didn’t discover the main character’s name until somewhere around 15% of the way through, which is too long for me. This story isn’t without its flaws and a few plot holes but it is very fast paced and engaging. I read the entirety in one day and not once did I feel bored with the plot line. If you liked The Fifth Wave, The Host, or Signs you’ll definitely enjoy this. I really think this book would lend well to a movie and would love to see it adapted one day.

The Valiant was supposed to save us. Instead, it triggered the end of the world.
Earth is in shambles. Everyone, even the poorest among us, invested in the Valiant’s space mining mission in the hopes we’d be saved from ourselves. But the second the ship leaves Earth’s atmosphere, our fate is sealed. The alien invasion begins. They pour into cities around the world through time portals, possessing humans, forcing us to kill one another.
And for whatever reason, my brother is their number one target.
Now the fate of the world lies in the hands of me, a seventeen-year-old girl, but with the help of my best friend, Justin—who’s suddenly starting to feel like more—maybe if we save my brother, we can save us all…
The cover and title is what originally drew me to this book.
This is my first book by this author. It was alltogether an easy read. ♡ I give this book a
3.5 star rating!
