Sex, murder, and lies…just another day in the Big Easy…..and just like that Cynthia Eden gives us another intense and electrifying read.

Even as FBI Agent Bree Harlow knows never to trust a killer, going undercover to bring down a killer is her goal. But falling for the suspect Kace Quick in his own nightclub was never the plan. But then love is unpredictable, so is the killer targeting Bree. And Kace is fully vested in protecting the love of his life.

A fast paced thriller!!

I have read a lot of Cynthia Eden's works (the LOST series and the Bad Things series) and have to say that she never disappoints. I am a huge fan of her work and her writing style. I was very excited for her Dark Sins series as it has the typical romance aspect to it but has such a great mystery/suspense aspect also. It is much more along the lines of her LOST series but not quite as romance heavy.

This is the first book in the series and it follows Kace Quick, the reigning king of the New Orleans underbelly, and Bree Harlow, a fresh off the farm Federal agent. The FBI suspects Kace of being a serial killer and attempt to send Bree in undercover to gather evidence. Kace knows that Bree is an agent when he hires her but he is fascinated by her regardless and wants to use her to help him get information on the case. There is a huge issue of trust between the two as the plot plays out to find the killer without Bree being targeted.

There is a ton of angst and betrayal throughout the book and lots of fun twists. There are so many things I could mention but I don't want to give away anything that makes the book so good.

I would highly recommend this book if you like some suspense. It was a great book and extremely well written.

This book was amazing. From the moment I picked it up to the very last page i was completely entranced by this couple. I loved Kace from point blank. He was perfect and even more perfect for Bree. Their story was epic. I can't wait for the next book in the series!

DON'T TRUST A KILLER is the first book in Cynthia Eden's Dark Sins series. In this story, Cynthia Eden revisits her frequent setting of New Orleans and crafts another tale of death and eroticism mixed together in a way that only she can. Kace Quick is known as a powerful and dangerous man in New Orleans, and local and federal authorities would love to take him down on any charge. FBI agent Grayson Wesley would love to pin the recent murders done by "The New Orleans Strangler" on Kace, and he enlists the help of agent Bree Harlow. What Grayson could never imagine is that Bree and Kace would fall in love and that together they would capture the real killer.

Cynthia Eden's books are usually peppered with allusions to classic horror films, and Bree Harlow definitely gives off a "Clarice Starling" from SILENCE OF THE LAMBS vibe. Bree is no stranger to danger or killers. Bree's family was murdered, and that experience changed her forever. It also gave her something in common with Kace. Kace was tried for the murder of an old girlfriend when he was a young man. Both Bree and Kace have faced the consequences of murder and dealt with survivor's guilt and suspicion, and it has made them stronger. In DON'T TRUST A KILLER, Cynthia Eden shows how "dangerous" doesn't always equal "evil," but that evil can be hiding in plain sight. The sexual tension, as Bree initially plays a cat and mouse game with Kace, as she tries to go undercover is exquisite. I liked the alternating perspectives in this story, including the unknown killer's. There's not really a moment in which Bree ever believes Kace is the serial killer, but she does wrestle with the concept of trust as it applies to any kind of romantic relationship, and she has her own demons to exorcise. Cynthia Eden keeps readers on their toes with betrayal coming from unexpected sources, and twists and turns galore.

DON'T TRUST A KILLER is one electrifying surprise after another, and a romance with a fiery intensity. Things are expectedly off-the-charts hot between this hero and heroine, and I like the things they discover they have in common. It's cool seeing characters from Cynthia Eden's Lost series pop up in DON'T TRUST A KILLER. I look forward to Cynthia Eden's next heart-stopping tale of romantic suspense.

Bree is an undercover FBI agent investigating Kace for possible murder. She doesn't think he did it, but her boss does. Kace is uber-alpha and not particularly personable.

No one is who they appear to be, which can sometimes mean better depth to a book but in this case makes it seem more like a soap opera. Eden has written better stories, some of which I've read multiple times.

Cynthia Eden writes suspense like no other. For everyone else, you hold your breath and let it out at the end of each scene. For Eden, you hold your breath on page one and NEVER let it out. Even the love scenes are suspenseful. I know I didn’t breath until Kase said, “Maybe those should be his wedding vows.” So perfect for his character! Cynthia Eden, you can’t write fast enough for me, and I will always be a fan. Your books are “everything I need.”

This is going to be a great series if all the books are as good as this one! I love how saucy Bree Harlow is especially when confronted with danger (or Kace). Kace on the other hand is so broody and sinfully delicious you cannot help but fall in love with him. Not only is this book chocked full of great characters, but it is full of twists and turns that leave you unable to put the book down. One thing I really enjoyed is balance of hunt for a serial killer and lust for each other this story brings.

When Agent Bree Harlow goes undercover as a server at a very popular nightclub, she knows that being near Kace Quick is dangerous. But getting close to him is her job, so the danger is to be expected. It isn't until he takes a personal interest in her that she starts to get a little nervous. But if it means catching the serial killer stalking New Orleans, she'll do it. And if Kace is the killer, she'll take great pleasure in putting him behind bars.

Kace pegs Bree as a fed the second she walks in his club. But he's all about keeping his enemies close, and he wants to see what she's going to do. He tests her, pushes her, wants to see how far he can go. Bree never does what he expects. She pushes back.

But the killings continue and Bree isn't so sure he's the killer. The agent in charge is set on him and won't even look elsewhere for a suspect. Bree starts to notice little things that don't add up. Maybe Kace isn't completely above-board with his business dealings, but she's not sure he's a killer.

I liked Bree. She was tough and kept her coo,l and I really liked watching her keep Kace on his toes. Every time he thinks he knows what she's about, she surprises him. And I loved that the two of them didn't try to deny the attraction between them. Bree was unapologetic in her desire and I freaking loved it.

This book was intense, sexy, and kept me guessing. There's even a fun little cross-over from her LOST series. I really love things like that. I always recommend Cynthia Eden when someone wants a good Romantic Suspense, and this time around is no different. You want excellent Romantic Suspense? Grab this book.

I did enjoy this book just not as much as a lot of her other ones. While I adored Kace (the male lead), Bree was a little harder for me. She just seemed very naive and able to manipulate. I can't help compare her to a previous character Sarah, who was spot on in all she did. Bree seems very young. Why this would be an issue is that she is supposed to be a profiler bought in to go undercover in a murder case. She seems very unqualified.

I did like the connection between the two lead characters. As improbable as it was, the relationship did work. That was the strength of this story. The suspense kept twisting and turning, throwing red herrings up everywhere. The ending was unexpected. All in all, this was a good story, I felt it was not as compelling as her LOST series.

Received as an ARC from Netgalley.

aThis is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

Wow, there were twists and turns, misdirection, and several different plots to this story. I also want to point out that when the author can make the criminal seem human and worth the female loving, then you have a great story - and this story made Kace seem more than just a criminal.

Kace sees through Bree when she applies for a waitress position at his club and keeps trying to trip her up and"play" with her but keeps being surprised by her and can't stop falling for her.

Bree didn't realize that she and Kace has such similar backgrounds and after a bit could see that what she was told was not matching the facts. I liked that she did her own profiling and could see that it did not match the official profile of the killer.

I saw mentions of how this is not how an FBI investigation would really go but I am not looking for a "real" case investigation and enjoy the drama and intrigue behind all the plots. Without giving too much away, there were some ulterior motives behind the scenes that are important to the story but hopefully are not happening in the real FBI investigations!

I could not put this book down and kept getting interrupted at the most important parts! I did not figure out who was killing the women, did not figure out who killed Bree's parents, and was surprised when I learned Grayson's motives for his profile of the killer. So, I was surprised about the whole story, and loved it!

Don't Trust A killer by Cynthia Eden is the story of Bree Harlow and Kace Quick.
Bree is working the New Orleans Strangler case to solved the murders. Which leads her to go undercover at Kace's night club. Kace is immediately attracted to Bree from the start but he also knows that she got to be part of the Feds. Bree knows that Kace does some shady stuff but when she gets to know him she starts to know he can't be the killer. But the killer is starting to put the heat on her which makes Kace go into protection mode towards Bree.
Another exciting hot read from Ms. Eden.

Another brilliant book from one of my favourite authors and once again she doesn't disappoint.

Somehow she seems to make her characters larger than life but oh so human at the same time . Kace may become the hero of this story but he is very dinged and damaged hero no shining armour for this guy and Bree does she really need a hero or is kick..se enough by herself When they join together they become a unstoppable team . The attraction between these two is enough to ignite the page but it is entirely relatable. I would give more than five stars if I could

It’s just another day in the Big Easy as Bree goes undercover to catch serial killer and catches the attention of the sexy and dangerous Kace who the FBI believes to be the crime lord behind the murders. Kace and Bree are bold, charismatic characters that easily bring readers into their world and hold them captive with their sizzling chemistry and daring and brave romance. Against all odds, the attractions burns hotter the longer they work together and the relationship has several obstacles that will have to be overcome including some past emotional baggage.

Thrills and intrigue keep readers turning the pages of this fast paced and smooth flowing plot that has a dangerously edgy feel as the hero and heroine face some hair raising events and try to determine who the killer is before they become his next victims all while dealing with law enforcement that has decided Kace is guilty and they are determined to bring him down. Surprising twists keep readers guessing which adds to the intense thrill of the story and once again the author has created a well-developed world that she brings to brilliant life, making it easy for the readers to connect to the characters and to become part of the story and being set in New Orleans spices up the story as it helps set up the atmosphere and adds to the dangerous, edgy crime lord persona of Kace and some of his employees. I was completely caught up in this book from the very beginning and I was especially excited by the astonishing conclusion of Bree’s case

A big thank you to NetGalley and Hocus Pocus Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I really enjoyed this book. I started it a night before a long road trip and ended up reading til 4am! I rate this a 5 star. It reminded me a little of Eve/Roarke in the JD Robb books. Is Kace a good guy? bad guy? Bree is a newbie FBI agent sent in to do undercover work. What happens is expected but then it gets crazy! I think if you like romantic suspense this one was fun and you will probably like it.

I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book

I honestly loved this book. Cynthia Eden did a great job drawing the reading in and making them fall in love with the main characters. When I started to read the book I had in my mind who did what...where... and when but shockingly I realized at the end that I had NO idea!

Overall a great book!

Nobody does romantic suspense like Cynthia Eden. I really enjoyed this story of the FBI agent, Bree, and Kace, the powerful criminal she's investigating. Lots of twists and turns make this an exciting mystery too. In this cat and mouse game the cat and mouse can't get enough of each other. Red hot.
