DNF, had a hard time getting into the story line of the book. Also felt like it was a slow start to the beginning of the book.

Justin needs life away from the limelight of hockey and his crazy reality life finance he is ready to dump. Buying land in Wyoming and hiding far away from NC is the perfect solution. Meghan is the neighbor across the street and is everything Justin has always wanted. Now to convince this single mom to trust him with her heart will be the game of his life.

I am loving the Charlotte Striker hockey series. Plus got to see some old friends pop in makes it worth it again.

I was very entertained by Off The Ice, part of the Breakaway series. It stands alone, but the series itself is strong and enjoyable. If you like Toni Aleo, Kelly Jamieson or Kate Donovan's series, I think you would enjoy the Breakaway series from LP Dover. Off the Ice is a light, sexy read featuring fully dimensional characters, both primary and secondary. The hero and heroine's journey to happily ever after is fun and flirty. I really appreciate LP Dover's talent for sharp, witty dialogue that fits characters and situations so well. I'm a fan.
I received my copy through NetGalley under no obligation.

L.P. Dover is one of my go to authors. I am a fan of her Breakaway series and have been waiting on Justin’s story. Let me tell you it did not disappoint.

Meghan is Justin’s neighbor and owns the ranch next to his. She hasn’t been taking the best of care of her ranch and Justin is just the guy to help her. She is not looking for any romance after losing her husband eight years ago.

Justin decides he wants a normal girl someone who wants him for him and not the hockey player. Will these two be able to stay make a relationship work? If you like hockey romances look no further.

My apologies for the late notice. I did not relate to the characters in the story and chose not to run a review of the title on the blog page.

As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review.

Justin Davis is a hockey star and aspiring actor who agreed to be on a bachelor-type show. He ended up with a fiancee that he hated and was stuck with for a year due to the contract he signed with the show. After he breaks up with her publicly, she sues him. Justin retreats to his new Wyoming hone and meets Meghan, a single mom. They become fast friends and soon lovers, but Justin still needs to deal with his ex-fiancee. He hires a good lawyer and private investigator who find dirt on her and that is quickly wrapped up. Then the story got boring. Justin is the perfect attentive boyfriend. Meghan's daughter loves him and she says the perfect things. It's too perfect and we all knew where it was going. The last 1/4 of the book dragged.

This was a good read! The writing flowed well, and I liked the characters. Justin and Meghan had great chemistry, and I thought they made a great couple. Justin was a good guy, but his ex was straight up crazy. That was resolved pretty quickly, and I was expecting there to be another appearance from Miranda before the end of the story. There wasn't, but that was a good thing. I thought it was a little weird that Meghan wanted to keep her daughter from the paparazzi, but was okay to let her try to be a celebrity. It just didn't make sense to me. Other than that, I liked the secondary characters, and I thought the ending was super sweet. This was a first for me from this author, but I will definitely be looking for more!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

What is better than a sports romance novel? How about one that merges the best parts of a small town romance into the story? Off the Ice has everything I expect from a sports romance and took it one step further by blending elements of an adorable meet cute and small town feel into the mix!

Justin and Meghan work so well. In today’s society, everyone wants the romance of the small town girl with the superstar but often times it is uglier and harder than it first appears. This book dives into that space, giving us a story filled with heart, healing, and second chances.

What is it about books like these? They make me want to drop everything and move to the middle of nowhere USA to find my one true love. I love that these two found love when they least expected it. Justin was trying to find peace, a place to clear his head and find direction in his life. Meghan was learning to move on and blaze a new trail for her and her daughter. These two fall hard for each other and I loved it. Even more, I loved how Justin doted on Meghan’s daughter. It was so heart warming and adorable.

The highs and lows in their relationship make for fun reading! Off the Ice has a lot going on but LP Dover makes it work well. If you are looking for a flirty, weekend read, check this one out. It has emotion, steam, heartfelt moments, and the best kind of HEA!

I am always excited when L. P. Dover comes out with a new book in the Breakaway series. I like her writing style and have enjoyed reading all the books in this series about sexy hockey players. All the books are heartwarming, sweet and sexy. This is the fourth book in the series and each book is a standalone but the characters are interconnected.

OFF THE ICE features Justin, a professional hockey player with the Charlotte Strikers. Justine has always craved the spotlight but after taking part In a TV reality show and receiving a lot of negative publicity, he questions his choices. He is tired of being in the public eye and having the media hounding him. To get get away from his crazy life he decides to spend the summer at his ranch in Wyoming.

Justine meets Meghan when he arrives at his ranch. Megan lives across the street from him and even though she recognizes Justine, she treats him like a regular guy. Justine’s life is at an all time low and Meghan is like a breath of fresh air. She is honest, friendly and loyal. Meghan makes Justine realize what a self absorbed guy he has become.

I liked Meghan and Justin. They are good together and bring out the best in each other. They meet at a time in their lives when they are ready settle down but circumstances keep them apart. Justin is a good guy but has made some bad decisions and now he has to figure out how keep Meghan in his life. I enjoyed this entertaining story and would recommend it. I not only like the two main characters in this story, but there are many entertaining secondary characters as well.

This book was definitely better than the last one I read in the series (book 2), but it still didn't knock it out of the park for me. It was just okay... a cute, romantic story that didn't focus too much on hockey (which I'm glad b/c I know nothing about hockey LOL)

My issue was that the author spent so much time developing the first part of the story that the end felt very rushed and sort of unfinished.

I also struggled with the intense, immediate, connection between Justin and Meghan. It was like the author pushed them into the relationship rather than letting it develop naturally.

This one started really well and I enjoyed most of it.It was sexy and fun but also it has a lot of drama that in some parts I couldn't get anymore!

Single mom, Meghan Taylor, loves her life even if she’s a little lonely. Finding time to date while taking care of her daughter and a full-time teaching job, and with limited options has left Meghan unfulfilled. Realizing the handsome stranger she bumped into outside the airport is none other than the Charlotte Strikers newly-single Center, Meghan decides to take a chance.

Justin Davis is looking for a respite from the media swirling around him. His team just repeated their win of the Stanley Cup and he just won his freedom from his media-loving fiancée. Regretting his choices while he appeared on Rich and Single and what led him to proposing to the wrong woman, breaking up with her on national TV might have been the best decision he ever made. Buying the ranch across the road from the gorgeous widow, definitely tops the list.

I loved this storyline and was hooked immediately. The characters were fully developed and the chemistry between them was white-hot!

The heroine was naturally comfortable in her environment. I loved that her decisions were based on the wellbeing of her daughter and not just her lust for her new neighbor. I loved the hero was down-to-earth and was able to realize there was more going on than just a case of lust and was willing to do whatever it took to make their relationship work.

I look forward to reading more by this author.

I love LP Dover but I'm really in a love funk because while I really enjoyed this...I'm so tired of storylines that don't really happen IRL. Maybe I need to quit reviewing because I'm becoming so jaded lol, but I have never met a great guy at the airport and offered him a ride home and do you know why? Because there's a little thing out there called serial killers...yep, you totally read that correctly - serial killers. In my world, I invite the nice guy a ride home and he makes a skinsuit out of me. This is seriously how I think!!! I am one jaded chick and the sad thing is - this is a good book!! I loved Meghan and Justin but I just couldn't see past the noise of Scream (the Movie) in my head. DO NOT LET THIS DETER YOU FROM READING THE BOOK!!!! It's amazeballs. LP writes awesome hockey books. She's probably one of the best and I can't recommend her enough. So ignore me and go read it!

OMG! I adored this book. Justin definitely became one of my favorite book boyfriends. And I loved how Meghan finally found another true love. This is such a perfect, heartfelt romance. (And did I mention smokin hot)? The Outer Banks happens to be my favorite vacation spot, which made this story so much more special to me. There is nothing the author could have done better with this book. All the previous characters from the hockey team and their wives, and all of Meghan’s family and friends just made the story shine, especially Ellie. Another hit for L.P. Dover! And can’t wait to read Love Again. What a great teaser for this upcoming book.

This was my first sports read from this author and I really enjoyed it. Realistic romance with sports as the back drop. Single mum Meghan is certainly not Justin's usual lady of the moment. But after he gets himself out of his "fiance contract" he realises there's more to life than partying and puck bunnies.

It was a sweet, slow build type of story and I will definitely be looking for more work from this author in the future.

I was given an ARC in exchange of an honest review. I can't say enough it was a great read. The characters of Justin and Meghan will have the reader attention from the beginning to the end of the book. A must read!!!!!

I have read and loved a few of L.P. Dover's books including this one.
Justin Davis is in a mess of his own making. He thinks he is free of it all till he is drawn back in. Justin finally found a future he wants only to run the risk of losing it all. I found this to be cute and fun, with a little drama thrown in. It was a great ending to the series.

4.5 Stars!

Off the Ice, the fourth installment from L.P. Dover's Breakaway series, is well-written, hot, and full off heartwarming moments. I loved the main characters, professional hockey player Justin Davis, and fifth grade school teacher Meghan Taylor. In addition, the happiness Meghan's eight year old daughter Ellie exudes kept me smiling from ear to ear.

Meghan is a single mom who lost her husband after only two months of marriage. She never thought she could find love again, until Justin enters her life. They meet at the Jackson Hole airport, where they share a ride to their respective homes. Although Meghan recognizes Justin immediately from his time as a bachelor on reality TV, she does not let on that she is aware of his identity. Meghan's ability to treat Justin as an average joe goes a long way, and they immediately form a a friendship. Meghan is back home to fix her fence while Ellie is visiting with her parents in Nags Head. Justin is spending the off season at his new ranch, away from the relentless paparazzi and Miranda, the manipulative shrew he was forced to choose as his fiance, and is now free from.

I truly liked this engaging romance. This book is filled with raw emotions from many of the characters, and it is an amazing combination of interesting plot, well-defined personalities and family love. I immediately connected with Meghan and Justin, and there was never a moment that I did not want them to be together. Ms. Dover evolved their love story with tenderness, sexy times, and realism. This is a terrific read and it can be enjoyed as a standalone.

I am one of those people that love a good cover. Yes, I usually judge the book by its cover but it means a lot to me if it catches my eye somehow because of the font, setting of the title/author’s name etc. I do like the male model (definitely eye-catching) but even though I never put much thought in how much it resembles my idea of the hero, I think he looks kind of young. I don’t remember the author mentioning how old Justin is, but I imagined him in the late twenties and the cover model looks like late teens/early twenties at least.

Now to the story…

I think it was interesting. I love how much Justin cared about Meghan and that he wanted to offer her the world. But I think the whole book didn’t have the kind of plot I would want, no major conflict. I missed that because at around two-thirds of the book I was wondering what the book could offer anymore.

I think that may be the reason why I just couldn’t read it daily or why I wasn’t interested enough. I was more excited about the ending than the middle part.

Or it may be the reason that I have so much going on but what’s funny is that I started and finished another book while reading this one.

I guess it just wasn’t my cup of tea.

3,5 – 4 mediocre stars.
