an interesting self-help book for people interested in the Autism Spectrum Disorder. A bit dry in parts, overall it was ok

Thank you to netgally & publishers for an advanced copy of this book.

I have an autistic teenage daughter so this book was really of interest to me. I found it to be quite informative, it was interesting and I believe it would be very helpful to my daughter. A great concept.

I would purchase this is a physical book rather than an ebook though as we weren't able to complete any of the activities using the kindle version. It did give us some good ideas and inspiration for projects though.

This book contains a wide variety (a spectrum, if you will) of needs, traits, and topics for teenagers on the autism spectrum to explore. Although the workbook can be used by teenager alone, information is also provided for an adult caregiver to explore the book with their teenager or for teachers/counselors, etc to use the book as a course/curriculum.

The author, Finn, is autistic and provides her own responses to the worksheets and activities that are presented in the book. This offers both examples for the teen to follow but also allows them to feel like the information is being provided by someone who knows what their experiences are like, rather than just an adult or caregiver who wants to educate them.

Including such topics as executive functioning, sensory things, processing differences, and theory of mind, some of the areas explored are complex/abstract and might be difficult for some individuals to follow. This book is definitely most useful for an individual with Asperger's or very high functioning on the spectrum.

One of my only complaints about the book is the fonts used to complete the worksheets. The font is very thin, ornate, cursive font. I'm sure it was chosen to imitate the worksheets being handwritten by Finn herself. However, the font was very hard to read and some individuals on the autism spectrum have processing issues that make it difficult for them to read cursive. I think it would have been better to have the font be less ornate and more readable.

Overall, as both the parent of a teen on the spectrum and a professional who works with individuals with autism, I found this book to be well written and useful. I'll be purchasing a physical copy to give my son, as I believe it would be very beneficial for him.

Know your Spectrum, a creative workbook for teens is a unique and useful book, the approach taken is from a different angle to any Autism books.
This really is worth spending the time to work through. It helps understand and cope with many of the hurdles thrown in the way of people on the Spectrum.
I will be ordering a physical copy for my Son as i know he will gain alot from this.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a wonderful read. Know Your Spectrum, really sheds light on an important topic, within the LGBT communities. The workbook is set up to ensure that teenagers know where they lie in the autism spectrum. Everyone is different and I think this book is a great resource for those who want to understand where they are on the spectrum.

I received this book from NetGalley.

A perfect workbook for those who are on the spectrum, or for people wanting to understand and support people in their lives.
It has helped me no end. The workbook uses clear instructions and questions In Order to work through any issues people may face.

While it's not quite the right fit for our shop, it's a very insightful and practical way to better understand someone with ASD. This could be a very useful tool indeed for those with an older family member on the spectrum.

This book was really interesting.

It's called a "spectrum" because it is not simply one thing or another. Often it is somewhere in between.
This book highlights all those points in between, and how they affect each individual differently.
This book also points to a solution, and what each individual person can do to overcome the challenges they may face.
This book is great for people on the spectrum as well as their loved ones, educators and employers.
It is important to educate ourselves as Autism is something that will probably touch our lives in one way or another, and it is always beneficial to be informed. To understand why someone may be behaving the way they are.
Very informative and interesting read.
