Quick, very beginning reader, picture book. Good idea. The brief rhyming text works. This may be the kind of book young children want to read over and over again. And it’s a helpful resource to cultivate gratitude in them. Thanks for breakfast, lunch, dinner, toys, fun, play, mom, dad, family etc. Children who do not have two parents living with them at home or extended family may feel sad upon reading about saying thanks for these relationships. Three stars.

This is an easy to read book. The pictures support the text and will give those kids who are beginning to read a little extra help.

A simple easy reader on all the things one can give thanks. It almost reminds me of the funny little Thanksgiving poems kids learn and pass around each year. But this isn’t so much funny, and has no jolly quip, just a simple message of thanks. The illustrations are not the greatest, they remind of things from the sixties, but they work and are appreciated.

This book tells a story using 23 words paired with cute, colourful illustrations. This book is very simple and each page has one of the children saying thanks for something. This is a very simple book, but with Thanksgiving in Canada just being celebrated and in the US coming up in November, this is a timely book. The illustrations are simple, yet well done and can be used to help the reader decipher the text. I will say, that I do not like the cover much. There is a note for parents and caregivers at the front of the book to help them with using this book with their child. As part of the Reading Stars series, I Say Thanks is designed for beginning readers to promote confidence in reading skills. New readers will feel pride in their ability to read and understand this story. A great book for a family library or a primary classroom. The publisher, Xist Publishing, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The rating, ideas and opinions are my own.

Amazing story about the importance to teach kids to appreciate every little thing in life. Every kid should read it and learn to say thanks often.

In rhymes that play out over several pages, this book mentions various things to be thankful for, such as food and family and various activities. Aww, the dog didn’t get thanked. . .
Just like others in this series, this tome is designed for those little ones just starting on their reading journey, so there’s a lot of repetition. Should be read out loud.
3.5 pushed up to 4/5

This is another entry in an early literacy series by xist publishing. With rhyming text, and illustrations on every page, this book should appeal to beginning readers. Young learners will see that there are so many things to be thankful for! There are meals, friends and family, just to name a few. While practicing their skills, students will be able to think about the many things to be grateful for in their world.

Sweet book to teach kids the concept of thanking others, but I didn't like the illustrations, some of the people were a little creepy looking.

This is the second Reading Star book I have read. I really like the way it is done and the words to review and learn in the back of the books. It is a great way to start children on the wonderful world of reading. In this book it tells all the things to be thankful for. From breakfast, family, Mom, Dad and more it helps children to be thankful for the things we take for granted. I recommend this book for 2-5 year olds.
