Not this is a surprise as I don't like romance novels. This is much more than that with the author's ability to reach emotional depths when you least expect it. I didn't think it plausible for her to send away 'her man's for the reason she did but other than that...I actually was moved to tears in the last scene between Colt & Chaos. So sad...
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in return for my honest review

Captivating from the beginning to the end. The Last Letter will not disappoint. This book is stupefying. Who is Beckett and will he leave or stay? Any person that has watched their family through deployment will relate to this book. Twins – Macie and Colt will steal your heart. Can Ella overcome her loss of Ryan?
The author does an excellent job of keeping the story moving and magnetically pulling the reader in. The ending is not expected. Highly recommend this book.
This book was given to me by Net Galley for an honest review.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this novel thanks to Netgalley in exchange for an unbiased review.

This is a heartbreaking story that played on all of my emotions. I felt the courage and strength of Ella and all that she had been through in her past and her struggles as a single mom of twins.
The chemistry between Beckett and Ella was felt from their first meeting. It was frustrating that Beckett couldn't just be honest with Ella from the beginning on who he really was and why he was in Colorado. I know that was a huge part of the storyline, this secret, but it grew tiresome.

I have read some books this year that have torn at my heart and whipped my emotions to a hurricane level. But, The Last Letter left me in tatters and is the first one to make me all out cry. The pull your glasses off and hold your face in hands kind.

Beckett, Ella, Maisie and Colt took me on a ride through all of my feelings. This family gave me sorrow, despair, hope and joy. I held my breath and then celebrated with them. I got angry at one adult or the other and moved onto smiles and laughs.

If you read one book this coming year make it this one. You will be glad you did. Rebecca Yarros is a new to me author but she will not remain that way now. Thank you for this painfully beautiful story.

Love, love, love this book. The characters were amazing. The story made you feel so much that you went on the emotional roller coaster along with the main characters

There are some books you read and forget the moment you finish, and there are books that you will never forget. The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros falls under the latter category and you will have a book hangover for days.

You are hooked from the moment you start reading when we meet Ella, a single mother of twins who begins writing letters to Beckett, while he is in the military. Both are struggling. Ella with her twins and running her B&B and Beckett with his lack of self-worth. They find comfort in each other’s letters, even though they have never met.

Once they do meet, secrets are kept and Ella is coping with a seriously ill child. In some ways it is hard to write this review without giving too much of the plot away. This book will have you on the edge of your seat and I would recommend that you keep a box of tissues, nearby.

“Love, when it was right was enough to save you. Beckett taught me that every single day. And ours was more than enough. And so was I.”

Ella is an amazing mother and will fight tooth and nail for her children. Beckett is caring and kind.
This book is an emotional roller coaster, but so worth the ride. A book one should not miss.

This book captured me right from the start. I knew it was going to be an emotional read, but I didn’t expect to be crying at only 10% in. Let me just warn you that this book is not for the faint of heart. The story will take you through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

I loved all the characters in this book. Ella is such an incredibly strong person. No one should have to endure all the things that she has had to endure. Beckett is loyal to fault. Her kids are funny and endearing. And let’s not forget Havoc, the dog. What’s a good story without a dog?

I can’t convey all my feelings for this book without spoiling the story. All I can say it that this story will stay with me for a long time.

The Last Letter was my first book by Rebecca Yarros and I was very impressed with her writing. She was able to develop characters that I came to really care about and she was able to weave together several very angsty storylines seamlessly. There were a few times when it seemed like she was throwing in everything but the kitchen sink, yet she was still able to make it realistic enough to be believable. Although I never really felt an overwhelming amount of chemistry between Ella and Beckett, the development of their relationship was well paced and had a nice slow burn quality to it.

My only issue with this book is that while it technically has a HEA, it really doesn't. I read romance for its feel-good factor, so while admittedly it is a personal preference that the stories I enjoy have a lighthearted quality, I would not have picked this one up knowing that there is a REALLY unhappy twist towards the end. I just wasn't able to recover from it and it left me with an overall negative feeling towards the book. I would only recommend this story to readers who do not necessarily need a HEA.

I love Rebecca Yarros' writing! I was a little hesitant once I saw that this book was not a young adult like her other ones. I also don't typically like books where the main characters have children, but I was willing to give it a try because it was hers. I'm so glad I did.
Everything worked for me: the letters starting each of the chapters, the alternating first person narrative, the premise of why they had not shared photos, yet had started corresponding. It slowed a little for me after the first section, knowing that Maisie was doing better and it was obvious that Ella was going to somehow learn the truth about who Beckett was, but once I got to the confrontation where he does admit it, I was hooked again and sped through to the end. I didn't see the twist at the end coming and it was a tear jerker.

I loved this book! I would classify it as chick lit, but it had everything in it: humor, romance, and even some sexy love scenes. I was alternately laughing and crying (especially at the end of the book). I recommend it!

It’s been a long time since I’ve cried while reading a book, but I cried while reading this one. I loved this book. The story was captivating and the characters were very realistic ~ for lack of a better word. It is Beckett and Ella’s story. Beckett’s best friend Ryan has asked him to be pen pals with his sister. Beckett had a broken family life and is not good at relationships. Ryan’s sister, Ella, was freshly divorced with small twins. Her husband had walked out when he learned she was pregnant. And that’s all of the story I’m going to give. It has their letters woven into the story. But it is about so much more. I will recommend this book to anyone who loves a good story. I could have done without the very descriptive sex/love scenes but I understand why they were written in. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy for my honest review.

The Last Letter is beautifully written, yet absolutely heartbreaking. Ella is a single mother who has lost all of her family except for her twins. When the story begins, her daughter has been dianos d with cancer and has been give a ten percent chance of surviving for a year. Her late brother’s best friend and former special ops teammate has arrived to help her. Unbeknownst to Ella, Beckett is also her former pen pal known as Chaos. They fall in love, but it takes them a long time to admit it to each other. After a year or so, Maisie is pronounced to be cancer free. If that holds true for five years, she will be considered to be cured. A short while later, Colton dies as a result of a landslide while his and Maisie’s class is on a field trip. Despite the devastation of losing a child, Ella and Beckett vow to move forward. We learn in the epilogue that Ella and Beckett go on to have two more children.

One of the best books of 2018. Rebecca Yarro's The Last Letter was a gripping tale of love and war. It is the story of love and loss. Loss of family and friends. Also, a story of trusting others and being vulnerable. The raw emotions in The Last Letter will have your feelings pulled in every direction. This is one of those books you don't want to put down but at the same time you don't want it to end. Great movie material. Fans of Nicholas Sparks will love this book. Worthy of 5 Stars and 5 bonus Stars.

The last letter A story about loss and love . Warning by no means this is a light read, is an extremely emotional book so be prepared to have your heart suffer till the end.
The last letter was like no other book I have read recently, it was a great read through the whole story, the characters, the plot everything work. The story kept me from the very first page to the last. If I had a complaint it would be towards the end of the book a certain plot twist I was not expecting and no lie when I tell you wreck me, I wish the author could have avoided that route. I can certainly tell you if you want a good cry and a phenomenal l story this book is it. A story never made me cry until this one. The last letter was the read I didn’t know I needed.

***** I willingly volunteer to read an advanced readers copy. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley For providing a copy*****

Wow, what an emotional, heart-wrenching read! I enjoyed this book from the beginning and found it very easy to become engrossed in the story. It was very well written and the story was beautiful and tragic at the same time. I absolutely recommend this book, just maybe don't read it in public as I was crying like a baby during several parts. #TheLastLetter #NetGalley

The Last Letter was deep, meaningful, extremely emotional, so deeply sad and yet so very beautiful. This was my first book by this author and I was blown away.

I absolutely loved the story line involving letter writing, and the relationship that formed between Chaos and Ella via their profound confessions. And later I routed for Beckett and Ella and hoped they could heal and love each other. How could you not? I fell in love with Beckett's heart, his relationship with Havoc, and his love and protection of Colt, Maisie and Ella. I also admired Ella's character in the fight she showed and for never giving up when she often had more than enough reasons to.

This story requires tissues, so many tissues!!! I think it will stay with me for a very long time. Once I feel like I can breathe again, which honestly may not be for awhile, I hope to read more from this author.

Where do I begin with this review? Firstly, I always know to prepare myself for some hardcore feelings in a Rebecca Yarros book. There is something (beyond her honesty about her real life experiences) that makes everything in her books so deeply heartfelt. The Last Letter takes you through experiences and emotions that are beyond comprehension. It steals your breath, lifts your spirits and breaks you apart, and what's more - you love it as much as you wish it wasn't happening to the characters you love.
Beckett... Oh, Beckett. This guy is just something else, his single-minded focus doesn't waiver throughout. So dutybound by loyalty, friendship, and love. His interactions with Ella, Maisie, Colt and Havoc will have your heart waving a white flag almost immediately. I'm sure there will be differing opinions on some of his choices, however I didn't hold it against him. I knew what was coming, but it felt very natural to his and Ella's story.
Now Ella, Ella is quite a woman. How on earth she manages her life as she does, what with her history, and her present, is amazing. I'm sure a natural instinct kicks in, but by God does she deserve a break. There are so many times when she is at her lowest and you are just screaming for certain information to be revealed to bring some light to her life as much as you know it will change everything.
The kids, Maisie and Colt. I can't say too much here, but there is no way you won't lose your heart to them - or find yourself thinking back to certain parts of the story. They are such a delightful read despite it all.
The research, the emotion, the one-two punches that this book delivers at various different points. It is all worth it, so worth it. I wasn't prepared for it to to affect me like it did. You. Are. Enough.

4.5 Stars
So...I have found another favorite new-to-me author. Rebecca Yarros has me wanting to go back and read her backlist like now because The Last Letter was so, so good. I can't even begin to do it justice with this review, so I am going to bullet point my likes and dislikes.

What I liked:

*The letters. They start out each chapter and are perfectly tailored to the story and how it evolves.
*The writing. It caught my attention from the beginning and never let go. Like I said above, Rebeca Yarros is new to me and I instantly connected to the way she puts words together. Every sentence is packed with emotion.
*The plot. I won't go into it too much, but it's way more than what you read in that blurb. It was the perfect mixture or heartwarming and heartbreaking. Every moment had a purpose.
*Ella's children were so darn cute. Colt and Maisie were twins and their bond was too special. They also added something extra sweet to Ella and Beckett's relationship.
*Beckett Gentry. He had his moments of stupidity, but I loved his character.

I could go on and on, but I have to stop listing things because I would just give away the entire story.

What I disliked:

*I didn't connect as much as I would have liked to with Ella. I understood her reasoning for the way she acted, but her trust issues were almost too much for me at times. Especially towards the end.
*Beckett's moments of stupidity when he kept keeping that dang secret.
*An event toward the end. I can't say what it is, but I was sad the story went there. I get it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Overall, The Last Letter was a really great book. It was a romance, but it was more than just a romance. It was a touching story about family, love, war, and life. Despite my few dislikes, I thought it was brilliant.
