Another great book in the Desert Sheikh’s series. Leslie North provides great consistency in her writing and never fails to completely engage me right from the start. I loved it.

Princess Salari moved to Paris after her father, the king of Kattahar, exiled her. But when she hears about his sudden death, she’s ready to come home. After ten years away, she’s stunned by the sight of Kalif, the man who destroyed her life. Her former childhood friend and the only man to ever break her heart has morphed into the sexiest royal guardsman she’s ever seen. Although she refuses to even entertain the thought of falling for his seductive glances again, she won’t have a chance to avoid him. Someone doesn’t want Salari back in the palace, and they’ll stop at nothing to make sure she ends up dead. With no choice but to accept Kalif’s protection, she’ll have to guard her heart against the one man who can destroy it.

Princess Salari has lived for ten years in Paris after her father, the king of Kattahar exiled her. After his sudden death, her brother contacts her and asks her to come home. She is met at the airport by Kalif Nazat, the man who destroyed her life. He was once her childhood friend and love. When there are several attacks on her life, Kalif as Captin of the Guard will do anything to protect the woman he still loves. As they rekindle their romance, Kalif must explain to Salari what happened ten years ago and hope she can forgive him.

This was a great second chance romance. I loved the characters. The plot twist kept me guessing what would come next. Another great book from Leslie North.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.

Ten years ago Salari, the Kattahar princess, was banished by her father. A visiting prince lied and said she slept with him. Kalif, a guardsman’s son, has loved Salari since they were fifteen. Kalif is blackmailed into backing up the prince’s lies. Now that Salari’s father is dead and her brother is King, she can return for a visit. She still hasn’t forgiven Kalif but maybe he can make up for the years she’s been gone. Someone doesn’t want Salari there and an attempt on her life is made several times. Kalif will keep her safe at all costs.
Short story with sex and suspense.

For an outcast Princess, Salari did just fine for herself. Out of necessity but still that takes courage. Kalif will never forgive himself for his part in her banishment. But by saving her life he gets a second chance. As long as he doesn't blow it.
The Sheikha's Unexpected Protector, is mainly about Salari and Kalif, with only brief interactions with others. I loved that.
