Jan Karon's Mitford world has charmed millions of readers since it first came on the scene. The small town setting, nestled in beautiful scenery, and the engaging characters make the books favorites for her many loyal fans. Father Tim, the Episcopalian priest, uses liturgy in his personal life, with time-tested written prayers and quotes. This latest book by Jan Karon is a wonderful addition to the collection of every Mitford fan. The title comes from Karon's approach to her writing career.

For those of us who love the Mitford series, this is an inspiring and encouraging look at prayers and quotes from Father Tim that are scattered throughout the series. It’s a book that you’d keep by your bedside or on a nearby shelf to read when you want peaceful moments of inspiration. I love having a book like this that focuses on Father Tim’s faith. It’s a beautiful book for all Mitford fans, and a good introduction to the heart of the series for new visitors to Mitford

I am reviewing a copy of Bathed In Prayer through Penguin Group Putnam and Netgalley:

Perfect for the fans of Jan Karon's Mitford Series:

In this book we are allowed to walk with Father Tim through a collection of sermons, prayers and inspirational passages that incorporates material from each of the fourteen novels incorporating the Mitford Series. Included n this book is also a brand new essay about her own journey of faith as well as the impact The Mitford novels had on her.

This book will be a great addition for the fans of The Mitford Series. This compilation is beautifully designed and full of inspiration.

I give Bathed in Prayer five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

I have been a long-time fan of Jan Karon's books and I was so excited to get to read Bathed in Prayer - Father Tim's Prayers, Sermons, and Reflections from the Mitford Series. Reading Bathed in Prayer was a lovely walk back in time to the Mitford series. Karon walks the readers through each of the books from the beginning and shares Father Tim's messages. Each one is a special message in and of itself, if you've never read the books. Just as the Mitford books were hard to put down, I found that Bathed in Prayer was hard to put down as well. This is a highly recommended book that brings good Christian messages and encouragements to the reader.

I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

I was hoping for more of a devotional book written by Jan herself, but when I read this...didn't finish reading this ...I realized it was a compilation of prayers from all of the Mitford books. This is more of a book to dip in and out of for beloved morsels of prayer and revisits to story lines and characters from the novels.

If you loved visiting Mitford then this will be a must read book. If you are new to Mitford, this is a great introduction to Mitford. This little gem helps you to relive or find Father Tim and his encouraging words. A great addition to this series. I know I will be returning to this book many times. I love the Mitford series by Jan Karon. Visiting Mitford is like visiting family - at times dysfunctional, but deep down, always filled with love. Having a book that has all of Father TIm's prayers, sermons, and reflections in one place is a dream come true. It was like a visit back through all the best parts of the series and definitely makes me want to re-read the series once again, looking deeper into the prayers that make up such an important part of these books.

This was a wonderful and quick read. I loved being able to visit Mitford again, even if it was only for a short time. I will take any chance I can to spend more time with these beloved characters. This is a perfect addition to the Mitford series, but do not read this if you haven’t read the series yet, as there are spoilers.

In addition to the material from the Mitford books, Jan Karon reflects on her writing career and personal life. I found this really interesting and inspiring. I love reading about other people’s faith journey and how they became as strong in their faith as they are.

I recommend this book to anyone who, like me, isn’t ready to let Father Tim and the rest of the Mitford crew go quite yet. This book is a must have addition to any Mitford collection.

A charming book of short selections from many of Karon's Mitford novels, each introduced by the author to put them in context. For lovers of this series it's a delightful way to revisit the books. For new readers, it's a good introduction.

I loved that the selections show how wonderfully Christian life infuses the books. It's one of my favorite things about them and I'm so glad it's a big part of the book.

A special treat is Karon's introduction which tells, delightfully, her own story as a writer and how becoming a Christian helped create the books. It might be a tale told elsewhere but it was new to me.

I have loved the stories and characters in the Mitford series for a long time now and am thrilled to have this one now in my collection. What a wealth of wisdom and Spirit is in its pages. I especially loved the author’s story at the beginning about how she created the character of Father Tim.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I’ve long wished for a gathered collection of the devotions and prayers found in each of Jan Karon’s Father Tim books and Bathed In Prayer is just that. The title could not be more perfect as with each reading an imperfect soul feels a little cleaner and resets one’s thoughts on the right track. This can be read in one sitting or treated like a daily devotional. However you read it, the rewards will be great.
