A great fun word doodle book that anyone can have a go at. Lots of easy little word doodles cleverly illustrated, and appealing in their simplicity. You are definitely inspired to think up lots of words and pictures of your own. Great for children and for those who love to journal.

What a fun book! These doodles are very simple to recreate, no experience required. I enjoy writing notes to my kids in their lunch box and these adorable handwriting doodles would brighten their day.

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

When I doodle, I tend to just scribble some messy design, but this book takes the doodles to a whole new level! The first part of the book shows you how to make different kinds of letters and how to spice them up with just a little bit of something extra, liked a dashes or dots. I doodled along with her as I read about the different techniques and thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked the washi tape, stapled, and stitched up designs. The second part of the book takes words and shows you how to draw them step by step. I would have been afraid to try this in the past, but I did some of these words as well. I can't draw a fox, but I did like a lot of the designs. I liked dream, embrace, pizza, castle, pirate, and boots the best.

Sarah Alberto shows you how to combine hand lettering and doodles into whimsical artwork. It is a fun and creative book for ages anywhere from preteens to adults that gives you step by step instructions and inspiration. Doodle Words combines drawing with words. It adds visuals to letters and words to make playful pictures and artwork. Each doodle represents something about the words such as.....the word Tools can have each letter as a picture of a different tool, the word Monster could have each letter drawn as a monster, the word Dog could be drawn with bones and paw prints, and the word Melt can have each letter drawn melting. She also has a You Tube channel - Doodles by Sarah.

If you like to draw or doodle this is a very cute book. It gives you ideas on turning simple words into something more creative. Great ideas to get you thinking about doodles for notes, signs, invitations, and many other things.

Creative inspiration for someone who likes to doodle, but I'm not 100% sure I'd give this to a child who wasn't already doing some of this on their own. It was fairly basic step-by-step, and some were lots of fun, but not "great"

This is a fun book, both for children and, need I say, adults. Well presented with fabulous ideas on using doodle art to reinforce words.
Starting from the simple alphabet to gather ideas of symbolism to the decoration of words one is using.
There is plenty of suggestions in this book, and the ideas are just so imaginative, some simple, whilst other pretty elaborate.
This book just brings out the doodle soul in each and everyone that reads this book

There are a number of artists on social media who create the most beautiful lettering. This book acts as a starter for almost any age group - I am sure that some of my students aged 9 and 10 years would enjoy it as much as I did.

Part one looks at different ways of presenting the letters of the alphabet, with the second part putting ideas into practice. Words and phrases are given as examples and there are clear instructions and photographs to show you how to create your own version.

A very useful book for beginners.

Creative hand lettering has become so popular but often the tutorials are so involved it's hard to pick up on how to recreate the designs. This book teaches you how to create cute letter doodles with step-by-step instructions. There are lots of creative interpretations for bringing doodle letters to life (like spelling the word "tools" with letters that are actual tools) that would be easy for anyone from children to adults to use! The instructions are very simple and easy to follow, no matter your skill level!

I'm not very good at art. I grew up around people who were great at it, who'd create amazing things on the first try. My incapability to create anything that looks even half-decent after many hours of fixing it stopped me from trying. But I recently realized that despite what I was lead to believe my entire life, erasing isn't mutually exclusive with drawing, and I became unafraid of doing small drawings and doodles.
I'm not the best, or particularly good if I'm being honest, but I'm better than I was. And most importantly, I'm not afraid to try.
Because of my new hobby, when I saw this book on NetGalley I got really excited. My crappy looking, but quite functional bullet journal was begging me to give it a try. And I really enjoyed it.
The instructions are easy to follow, everything is well explained, and the process is broken down into steps that are genuinely easy to do. It takes the fear out of doodling, explains how to do the shapes, makes you want to doodle words all day long. It's so fun.
I recommend this book.

The Art of Doodle Words: Turn Your Everyday Doodles into Cute Hand Lettering! by Sarah Alberto is a book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. This is a fantastic book for preteen or early teen kids to be creative and play! Heck, I wanted to play! There is so much in here with lots of step by step instructions on making several of the works. It really is a good way to get the creative juices flowing. The first part shows the reader lots of new ways to make the alphabet! Then it goes into making words into art! Art and play at the same time! That's how I look at my art time! I have a 12 and 13 year old grand daughters that would love this book!

What a fun book! The Art of Doodle Words takes doodling to a new level. For many of us, the art of calligraphy is intimidating, tedious and difficult. Sarah Alberto’s book shows the reader how to combine basic lettering with doodling to create a cute drawing. Once that step has been accomplished then it’s a matter of practice to turn a doodle in to a letter or word.

The Art of Doodle Words will help you unleash your inner artist. It is stress-free and fun!

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

My Thoughts:

Journaling is all the craze now and this book will help you wordoodle your way right into it! As a child, I recall spending many hours lettering and I think I still have some of those stacked away. This book brought back those fond memories and rekindled my inspiration to hand-letter the doodle way!

The book is well organized with clear and easy step by step instructions. It has lots of cute ideas that made me go ‘aha’ and ‘that is so creative’.

It includes a tools and techniques section at the beginning that gives you a quick look at what you need and how you can get started.

Part One shows you different lettering types with ideas for how to use some of them in words. And this is something you can use for so many things – journaling, scrapbooking, artwork, and more.

Part Two is the wordoodle part where you go through step by step instructions to create word-doodles. Sometimes you start with words and add on doodles to them and at others, you start with cool doodles and include the words. But no matter how you do it, the result is always going to result in an ‘aaaw! so cute’ or ‘wow! so cool’ or both reactions (guaranteed with practice!)!

In Summary (or Additional Thoughts For the Book):

These are books that are perfect gifts for that doodler, that journalese, or anyone who wants to try out these arts. I am looking forward to working on projects with my tween, doodling our hearts and thoughts out using both these wonderful books! And hopefully be inspired to work on our own creative takes on these ideas. After reading these books, I checked out the youtube videos for both these talented artists and there is so much more to learn 🙂

The Art of Doodle Words has to be one of the most fun art books I’ve read in quite some time. The artwork is cute and silly, but also had some interesting points and applications. All of the artwork was done by Sarah Alberto, a famous YouTube artist. In this book she shows you many of her techniques she uses, and ultimately she teaches how to combine words with doodles and sayings.
This guide book is broken down into two main parts. Part I is all about doodle letters, from simple letters to curly script. Part II is about doodle words, words using a theme and combined together by a doodle. At the end of the second segment is a sampling of Sarah Alberto’s works.
This was a really useful guide. It gave some ideas and instructions, but it didn’t hold your hand through the process. I consider that a good thing, because how else can you jump start your creativity? Mostly I just enjoyed seeing Sarah Alberto’s working process and the completed pieces.

Race Point Publishing and NetGalley provided me with an electronic copy of The Art of Doodle Words: Turn Your Everyday Doodles into Cute Hand Lettering! I was under no obligation to review this book and my opinion is freely given.

The Art of Doodle Words is an illustrative look at how to creatively write words. Starting with the alphabet, the author provides examples of the letters written in different styles such as cursive, block, and slanted. The author goes on to give examples on some pages of how to use these alphabets, by transforming them into words that illustrate, such as decorating the word sand to resemble that element.

The section on doodle words is more interactive, with step-by-step instruction on how to transform words with depictions of letters as an item or object. With brightly colored pages and many examples to get readers inspired, The Art of Doodle Words is a great drawing instruction book, especially for kids. I do wish it was a little longer, with more step-by-step instructions, but the book is a good starting off point for readers looking to be creative.

I would have been excited to find this book back during my childhood, as well as in my and art teacher days! I loved building and embellishing letters out of shapes and images, and filling them in with color and pattern, I noticed my students decorated the covers of their notebooks and sketchbooks. Recently my 90-year-old Dad told me how he liked to "draw letters" when he was a boy.. This book is a nice introduction to typography.
