I found this devotional to be well done. It is a simple devotional, which helps us run closer to our Lord Jesus Christ. And as we run to Him, we get the opportunity to lay down our addictive habits. As we read this book, we are reminded that the Gospel of Jesus Christ means God can help and heal us from anything. He is soo good to us!

This great little book really packs a punch! I love this devotional and will be recommending it to others. It is very well written and focuses readers on the gospel as the vital hope for forgiveness, freedom, and change, in the context of addiction. I love that the author views addictions as ultimately a worship disorder. As he says, we worship our way into addiction and we must worship our way out. The author also maintains the delicate balance between our human responsibility and our supreme dependence on what only God can do by His Spirit. This book is honestly for anyone who struggles with sin (which is everyone)! At the root of all sin is an addiction. Some of us may be “addicted” or attached to baser things, but all sin and addiction puts something other than Christ at the center. This superb devotional will faithfully point the reader to the only hope for real and lasting change: the worship of the crucified and risen Jesus, who alone brings good news for the addicted.

This book does not claim to solve your addictive habits but it does give you a clear picture of why and what causes our addictive habits. As an addict I think these are alright.

I'm not a big fan of devotionals, but having said that, this is a very good book. The author clearly has a lot of experience with people who fall into addictions, and this book is a very concise manual with guidelines for overcoming addiction by finding your satisfaction in God.

Freedom begins with our willingness to accept our own role in cultivating our addictive habits. While addictions turn into bondage, they always begin with choices.

Because we were created to worship, we can easily turn that worship into an addictive habit. We can worship someone, something, and it all begins with a desire. This book does not claim to solve your addictive habits but it does give you a clear picture of why and what causes our addictive habits. Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 is just the beginning of cultivating a heart of worship and breaking down those habits that trap and enslave you.

Each day starts with scripture and a question. i.e. What defines you? That question leads you to untangle the mess of addictions. The chapter ends with reflection and action. The text is based on the 4 R's. Responsibility, Relationships, Restructuring and Remaining. I cannot begin to tell you how helpful this text is in battling addictions as you walk with the Lord. I Highly recommend.

Some helpful quotes:

If we worship our way into the problem of addiction, we must worship our way out too. The bible tells us that worshipping Jesus makes us look more like him. As we increasingly behold the glory of the Lord.

When our addictive habits tell us that we need more, thankfulness reminds us that we already have more than we deserve. There is power in gratitude.
