FABULOUS! TEN STARS!

What can I say to give this book the review it deserves? The writing is wonderful, the story mesmerizing, and the characters realistic and believable. I had to rush through the final few pages at the end because I couldn't stand the suspense and just had to know the ending. I did predict the outcome. But wasn't entirely sure so I would say that's not a negative here. I loved everything about this book and highly recommend it!

Ellie and Tia are identical twin sisters. However, they are not identical in mind... Ellie is high-spirited, passionate, outgoing, and a brilliant executive. Tia, however, is described as "a little slow, vulnerable and needy."

Although one thing Ellie cannot do is have a baby., Of course Ellie's husband, Will, wants to start a family.

When Tia's assisted living situation closes down, Ellie (not happily) ;picks Tia up. Tia lives with her sister and Will until - it is assumed - another place is available for Tia to move to. Will is much more understanding of Tia and is in no hurry for her to leave. Additionally, he is losing his patience with Ellie's negative attitude - particularly that toward her sister. One night Will goes out with the boys, gets very drunk, comes home and has sex with his wife in the hallway the minute he arrives home. After awhile, Ellie notices that Tia may be pregnant. When asked, Tia tells her, …"Just Will..."

So, Ellie fakes pregnancy so Will and her can say the baby is theirs - the baby they (Will) always wanted. (I started to wonder where they got the idea that it would be so easy to just pry the baby away from Tia???)

The pregnancy and baby classes continue for Tia and Will. Of course, Ellie continues to work with successively larger fake "baby pouches." Tia has the baby and calls him "Bill". Nannies are there to assist Tia and the rest of the family. Jealousy, difficult alliances, tears and baby issues ensue.

When a spot at a new assisted living situation arises, Bill is left with the nanny as Ellie drives an unsuspecting Tia there. And, of course, there is a car accident and one of the twins dies.

Unfortunately, I had the plot figured out very early on, yet I still hoped that a surprise was in store for me. I did read this book quickly... I needed to find out if I was right. I felt the characters were quite unbelievable and all seemed to be acting in their own self-interest. No twists. Mostly, the three main characters were pitting one against the other, playing "games', creating tension and displaying childish rivalry.

A quick, but predictable, read.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a quick read!

DNF at 44%

Mild rant and mild spoilers involved, proceed with caution - or don't read

What I expected-
A Successful woman, a mentally disabled twin, the said successful woman dies and her twin covers the murderer using former's old letters. Little bit of detective work and some surprise elements thrown into mix and voila - amazing book here.

What it actually was -
A successful woman, unable to have child, a mentally disturbed twin, comes to live with family, huge mix up situation with husband, pregnancy, cover up and blah blah blah

The person who has written the blurb should actually read the book first because it seems like, he or she hasn't and it certainly could NOT be author herself, I refuse to believe that.

It could have been so much better if reader was given a chance to know what to expect in the story...the blurb is completely misleading...total disaster

I would give this book more stars if I could!!!! Holy cow was this a thrilling book! Is Tia as innocent as she seems or does she have a sinister agenda? This was definitely a thriller in every sense of the word. I enjoyed this book from the very start learning about the identical twin relationship between Tia and Ellie. I had no idea where this book was heading and I was pleasantly surprised by all the twists and turns. I really loved this book and recommend reading if you love a great thriller!

This was one heck of a ride from midnight to 3am. I couldn't seem to stop reading, I tried really hard to shut down my kindle, but I had to get to the ending.

Indentical twins, Tia and Ellie, one in a high powered finance job in London with a husband, Will, and the other slightly 'slow' and very innocent, placed in a residential home for 15+ years. The only means of communication between the sisters was the letters Ellie sent every Friday which reached Tia on Monday.

My first book by Valerie Keogh, and it was an addicting ride. The book started with Tia receiving the letters, and Ellie having the worst day of her life with shocking news. And subsequently, Tia comes to stay with them. I liked how the author has started the book with a bang, slowly building up the pitch. There were bread crumbs of clues strewn to raise the suspicions.

The plot and the ending were well written and could be easily deduced, but it is the journey of the writing which kept me captive. There was an alluring quality to it, I literally felt like a fly stuck in a spider's web who had to keep reading on, to escape. The scenes caused a tidal wave of emotions to arise, it had me going OMG constantly. Ellie's pain was so beautifully depicted.

One niggle stayed with me, and I kept hoping that it would come out. It didn't. All I can say is that the autopsy reveals everything. And I did guess the ending, I think I may have seen a movie or read something similar, years ago.

The book was my Venus fly, and any book which can bring me closer to The End can be called nothing but addictive, unputdownable, and a joyride!!

I only got this book a couple of days ago, and I could not leave it down, the two principle characters, Tia and Ellie are developed so well that you constantly change your allegiance from one to the other., It is a page turner and holds your interests throughout. I did not want the book to end as I felt there were more developments to happen, maybe another book on the way. Well done again to this author Valerie Keogh for a superb story.

"Secrets and lies. Guilt and regrets" Well this pretty much sums up this book and does make you think well what if !! I really did enjoy it very much, the storyline was an interesting one and my feelings towards the characters changed as the book progressed which made for a book that was as they say “ unputdownable “. I had predicted the ending but because the writing was so good it kept me gripped and so this in no way spoiled the book at all and in fact was very satisfying as it was exactly what I wanted to happen. I haven't read any other books by this author but I will make sure I do as I was impressed by the way the book was written. Enjoyable and different a good solid 4 star read, my thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for being given a chance to read the ARC.

This book was a definite crazy and creepy thriller, one like I have never read before! I definitely like the whole twin sister getting pregnant by her brother in law. It was crazy how the husband, wife and sister went about the whole thing that at times I was shaking my head. The ending I had figured out a while before I read it but it still was good. I thought the book was good but very drawn out at times especially during the pregnancy. Over all not a bad read. Thank you netgalley for letting me give an honest review of this book.

I have no words, only feelings, and a mishmash at best for this book, but I’ll do my best to share my thoughts.
The plot revolves around identical twin sisters, Ellie and Tia, one a high-achieving business woman and the other suffering from a mild learning disability that means she’s lived in a sheltered-housing type set up for most of her life. When this ‘‘school’ closes Ellie decides to give her sister a home, not realising that…
On breaking it down Secrets Between Us is a character-driven novel that hangs on three individuals: Ellie, Tia and Will (Ellie’s husband). Oh, there are more than just three but they’re all minor. But unlike other books in this popular Psychological Thriller genre Keogh has done the previously unachievable. She’s made the reader invest in these characters as people. Yes. All three of them. I don’t know how she’s managed it but she’s made all of her MC’s equally likeable and hateable (I know it’s not a word, but it should be!). She not only managed to grab me from page one she had me rooting for each one in equal measures. The ending is superb, brilliant even and left me with the book-hangover from hell. I had to resort to a vintage Mills and Boon to cleanse my palate of all things Keogh and I still can’t get that ending out of my head. She’s managed to leave a never-ending trail of thoughts in her wake over this book.

I was lucky enough to read a very early ARC of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

Secrets Between Us by author Valerie Keogh is an intense, crazy awesome psychological thriller! I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it had me up most of the night reading! My husband slept soundly beside me and at times I wished he was up, the book so SO CREEPY. It’s that uneasy feeling! The characters from the narrative point of view are great! The plot and surrounding was great too, I genuinely enjoyed reading Secrets Between Us!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an arc copy of Secrets Between Us in exchange for an honest review. I will be doing a full in depth review on my blog (CloudOfThoughtsXO@Wordpress) around the release date (November 14th) and I’m excited to talk with others on their thoughts of the book!
