Ellie and Tia are identical twins. I suppose for people who arn't twins, there is a bit of a fascination surrounding them. Tia and Ellie haven't seen each other though since they were children with Ellie living a normal everyday life with her husband Will whilst Tia has been living in a sort of care home due to her mental abilities.

Ellie and Will have a lovely home as well as both having good jobs. I was very intrigued to know more why Ellie had no interest in seeing Tia until the home that she is in is closing down and Ellie has no choice but to allow her to come and live with them. To a certain extent I could see why Ellie would not want to have her twin around. Especially as even her husband seems to struggle in telling them both apart.

It's actually hard to know quite what to say about this story as I don't want to give to much away. It really does make for some compelling reading and it's one of those books where you find yourself saying just one more chapter and then the next thing you know it's impossible to put down until you've finished it.

Secrets Between Us will have you gripped from the off and the build up of mystery and suspense throughout was literally spellbinding. I couldn't tear myself away until I had got to the last page. If you love a good psychological thriller that will have you gripped from start to end, then would definitely recommend you giving this one a go.

Wow, this was good!! I was completely hooked on this story, even though I had guessed the twists. It was a book that I just had to keep reading. The characters were intriguing, some of their choices and decisions highly questionable and out there. But still I was sucked in and needed to know the ending.

Ellie and Tia are identical twins. End of similarities. Ellie is successful and happily married to Will and about to start a family. Tia is a bit slower and has been living in an institution for most of her life. When the institute closes down Ellie and Will have little chocked but she move Tia in with them, and then their lives start to change forever. Not saying anymore so I don't give anything away.. but so much more happens and you have to read this book!

Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me this reader copy.

Coming to the plot: Ellie and Tia are identical twins but other than their appearance nothing else is identical. Ellie is ambitious and headstrong and married to Will where as Tia is a little slow, gentle and lives alone in an institution for the differently abled. They haven't seen each other for fifteen years but Ellie writes Tia a letter every week where she pours her heart out about everything in her life, to the minutest details. Soon it's time for Tia to move and both Ellie and Will agree to let Tia stay with them till they can find another place for her. But once Tia stays with them something happens and that something changes their lives forever.

I felt all the three characters are horrible. The worst was Ellie. What a horrible sister. Unless (in my opinion) there are concrete reasons to stay away from your sibling like death threat or drastic sibling rivalry there's no reason for one to stay away. Especially when their father had begged her to look after Tia, she was the vulnerable one after all. She stayed away cause they are identical - what a load of bull.

The writing is definitely good for an author I have never read before and hence had low expectations going in. But she doesn't disappoint where as the plot is nothing great. I don't care about any of them but yes, Tia just was in the wrong place but I can't decide who's right or wrong here. So the author must have done something right, huh?

What a crazy book. To me it started a little slow, but didn't take long to get your attention and keep it. Then it became an unputdownable, twisty, chilling thriller, which will keep you guessing and leave you with chills. Absolutely amazing at giving the thriller lovers what they love.
Will be sharing this book on Sunday in Chapter Chatter Pub, and highly recommending.

I really enjoyed Secrets Between Us. I thought it was imaginative, twisted, and I was tense for the entire duration of the read. This book punched me in the gut over and over until the author decided when to stop. Valerie Keogh provoked all kinds of emotions from me - sadness, jealousy, bitterness - due to her fast-paced, engaging narrative and her three dimensional, relatable characters.

This book features two identical twins who couldn't be further apart if they tried. Ellie is a cold, high flying businesswoman in the finance sector who is married to Will, and Tia is 'differently abled', checked into an assisted living residential home where she bakes bread every single day. Until, the residence shuts down and Ellie, as Tia's official guardian, has to take Tia into her home until she finds another suitable place for Tia to live. However, Tia has other plans, plans that concern Will especially.

I thought that the author captured the nature and dispositions of each character really well, ensuring poignant scenarios that captivate the identifier in each character's personality; Ellie's secrecy, Tia's simplicity and Will's selfishness.

I was hooked with this sadistic thriller that I devoured in two sittings (and one half hour at a bus stop), everything happened how I wanted it and when I wanted it, there was something so utterly fascinating in the story line and I feel that the narrative and dialogue perfectly embodied the age old story of 'one good twin, one bad twin.'

Also, that ending though! Keogh couldn't have been more equivocal yet shocking if she tried. The ending was perfectly satisfying for any of us readers with curiosity for the disturbed.

One thing I don't understand, however, is why Tia has to burn the letters after she reads them? It wasn't clear to me and left vague loose ends that could have been neatly tied by the author. I feel that Valerie Keogh could have done a lot more with the story. There was no occasional peek into Ellie and Tia's past that would have allowed me to understand their resentment towards each other which I was really intrigued about. Ellie had her reservations about Tia from the start, and the reader was stopped from delving into the deep, dark secrets of their relationship and past that could have been really constructive.

How safe are your secrets?
One letter a week for fifteen years. 780 identical white envelopes brimming with my sister’s darkest secrets. All the intimate details of a life as different to mine as could possibly be.

This is a book about Ellie and Tia, who are identical twin sisters but are very different. It was a very creepy ride about family drama, lies, and of course secrets. It's a well written novel with a darkly sinister ending!

I went in not expecting anything in particular as its the first time I've read Valerie Keogh.

I really enjoyed this and read it in one sitting staying up until the early hours of the morning! The storyline was interesting and I looked forward to seeing where it went. You do get to the point where you know what's going to happen but it then becomes about seeing how the rest unfolds. Kept me interested and I would recommend to others for sure.

Written in an easy to read style, this cracking story starts off all innocent and gradually gets darker and darker as one event leads to unforeseeable consequences and a chilling ending! The tension builds slowly, but soon we're wondering about everyone's motives and how they're going to react. Oooh, loved it!

Valerie Keogh has written a captivating story.

Twin sisters, opposite lives by every accord. Ellie is smart, successful, and outgoing. Tia is vulnerable with behavioral health issues. When the residential facility that Tia lives in shuts down, Ellie and her husband, Will, are forced to take Tia in. However, there is a terrible mistake one night and things go from bad to worse. Everyone involved is faced with ‘Secrets and Lies, Guilt and Regrets’.

This book was highly character driven and the plot was fairly intense. While an avid reader of this genre could foresee the direction of the narrative, it did not take away from the story. The writing was superb and Keogh did an excellent job at giving the reader that bit of an edge throughout the book. 4 stars.

Twin Sisters, one a successful professional, unable to conceive, the other works in an assisted residential home, never taking a day off. Then the home closes and she moves in with her twin Sister.

This is a mystery, but, with little mystery as it's so easy to guess what happens. Having said that, it's well written and so, for me, a 2* OK read.

2/5

Whomever marketed this book as mystery and thriller should be fired.
It has more drama than mystery and the mystery (if it could be said that) doesn't even happened until almost the end.

I am expecting something akin to Gone Girl with varieties in he said she said (or in this case would be she said she said), but what I get is a family drama of an identical twins with problems you could spot from the beginning and you lost your interest after they kept the drama.

It might make an OK read to someone else, but to me it wasn't.

Secrets Between Us by Valerie Keogh was a thriller that I could not put down and I read in one day.
This story is about identical twin sisters. Ellie a successful business woman and Tia who is slow and lives in an assisted residential home. Ellie hasn't seen her sister for fifteen years and her only communication was by letter but when the home Tia lives is in due to close she takes her home to live with her and her husband. Things don't go well with this new arrangement and after a terrible mix up rapidly get even worse.
I really enjoyed this book and found that the story hooked me from the first page.
I guessed what was going to happen because there were plenty of clues but this did not stop me from enjoying the book. I will certainly be looking of for other books from this author. I would like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for my e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

FABULOUS! TEN STARS!

What can I say to give this book the review it deserves? The writing is wonderful, the story mesmerizing, and the characters realistic and believable. I had to rush through the final few pages at the end because I couldn't stand the suspense and just had to know the ending. I did predict the outcome. But wasn't entirely sure so I would say that's not a negative here. I loved everything about this book and highly recommend it!

Ellie and Tia are identical twin sisters. However, they are not identical in mind... Ellie is high-spirited, passionate, outgoing, and a brilliant executive. Tia, however, is described as "a little slow, vulnerable and needy."

Although one thing Ellie cannot do is have a baby., Of course Ellie's husband, Will, wants to start a family.

When Tia's assisted living situation closes down, Ellie (not happily) ;picks Tia up. Tia lives with her sister and Will until - it is assumed - another place is available for Tia to move to. Will is much more understanding of Tia and is in no hurry for her to leave. Additionally, he is losing his patience with Ellie's negative attitude - particularly that toward her sister. One night Will goes out with the boys, gets very drunk, comes home and has sex with his wife in the hallway the minute he arrives home. After awhile, Ellie notices that Tia may be pregnant. When asked, Tia tells her, …"Just Will..."

So, Ellie fakes pregnancy so Will and her can say the baby is theirs - the baby they (Will) always wanted. (I started to wonder where they got the idea that it would be so easy to just pry the baby away from Tia???)

The pregnancy and baby classes continue for Tia and Will. Of course, Ellie continues to work with successively larger fake "baby pouches." Tia has the baby and calls him "Bill". Nannies are there to assist Tia and the rest of the family. Jealousy, difficult alliances, tears and baby issues ensue.

When a spot at a new assisted living situation arises, Bill is left with the nanny as Ellie drives an unsuspecting Tia there. And, of course, there is a car accident and one of the twins dies.

Unfortunately, I had the plot figured out very early on, yet I still hoped that a surprise was in store for me. I did read this book quickly... I needed to find out if I was right. I felt the characters were quite unbelievable and all seemed to be acting in their own self-interest. No twists. Mostly, the three main characters were pitting one against the other, playing "games', creating tension and displaying childish rivalry.

A quick, but predictable, read.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for a quick read!
