Amish Hideout by Maggie K. Black is the first book in the Amish Witness Protection series. Celeste is taken into witness protection and placed in an Amish Community by US Marshal Jonathan Mast. This is all new and foreign to her but can fighting for her life show her a new respect and help her to understand Jonathan a little more by staying inside his childhood home?

This is an interesting introduction to a new series which focuses on the witness protection program. In this first book Celeste Alexander is under the protection of U.S. Marshals after discovering and exposes a major computer criminal. Jonathan Mast comes on to the scene during a dangerous encounter and pulls her out, saving her life.
The author has written a believable story that brings Amish and an endangered witness together via a marshal who is protective and caring. The story focuses on the fact that God calls certain people to lifestyles and careers that may be contrary to what their family expects or can understand.
I liked the characters in the story. The Amish family that becomes involved is faith filled and striving to do what they believe God expects of them. I particularly like Eli.

I want to thank Love Inspired and NetGalley for my copy of Maggie Black's book. I look forward to more in this very different series.

If you enjoy a quick read, only 214 pages, and non-stop action, this one will quickly have you page turning.
The knowledge of the internet and coding is so deep, and the dark net is prevalent here with guns blazing, and it is a fight between good and evil, most you never see coming, and big brother is sure watching.
A bit of sweet romance, but survival is the main point here and bringing evil to justice.
There are two more books in this series, and I hope to be able to read them, especially if they are as good as this one!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Harlequin, and was not required to give a positive review.

I really enjoyed this suspenseful romantic read. It really makes you think about how much time you spend on the internet and how it affects your life. What can all go wrong because of the internet. This was a very thought provoking read. I recommend it! I can't wait for the next 2 in this series.

Time was running out for Celeste Alexander. Her fingers flew over the keyboard. Knowing each keystroke could be the last before U S Marshall Jonathan Mast arrived to escort her to her new life in the Witness Protection Program. She would be in a small apartment In Pittsburgh for the months until she testified at Dexter Thomas’s trial. It had been almost two weeks since an evil genius computer hacker who went by the handle”Poindexter” had stolen tens of millions of dollars out of banks of ordinary Americans. But she had found him and now he was in jail. When Celeste gathered all the evidence she could she tipped off the Feds. But the stolen money still hadn’t been recovered. One thing almost fifteen years of programing had taught Celeste was that nothing was ever truly random no matter how it seemed. The Feds had promised that Celeste would remain anonymous but even from behind bars Dexter had other plans. Even after his arrest her nest egg had disappeared from her bank account. Two days later her apartment had exploded just as she had been steps away from walking through the door. Celeste wondered if she would have to cut her hair and wear contacts. If she would ever get back to writing computer code. Than she heard gunshot and she was pushed down and next came an explosion. She heard Karl- one of the Marshalls- when he told her to find cover. Than Marshall Jonathan Mast pulled her to her feet and told her who he was and for her to stay close, he would keep her safe. Jonathan had been raised Amish but at eighteen he left to follow his calling to serve and protect and become a cop. Jonathan than told Celeste he got an email from Karl to turn around she wouldn’t be here until the next day but Jonathan followed his gut as he felt something wasn’t right. The walkie talkie had jammed but Jonathan still found Celeste. She told him if he could get er to the walkie talkie jammer she could disarm itso Jonathan could get back in contact with his team. Jonathan was surprised because Celeste was the one in danger but offered to help her. Jonathan and Celeste went in the pantry As she was to drop through the pantry floor she looked and saw Dexter Thomas was the man was the man shouting the orders. Celeste told Jonathan as they were going through the tunnel and he said once she was safe he would call his boss Chief Deputy Louise Hunter. Than by the end of tunnel was what looked to be a body. Jonathan had her wait and found it was a Marshall he had known. Jonathan stopped at an out of the way diner and a man and a young woman tried to take Celeste again for the large amount of money being offered but they got away again when at a thrift store clearly where the Amish go the man looking like Dexter came in Celeste hid down near the floor. The Amish young woman helped hide her and get Celeste into Amish clothes. Jonathan stopped when he found it was his sister in law’s - Miriam - store to talk to Amos his older brother who was married to the woman who was helping Celeste. Celeste went with Amos but “ Dexter” stopped them but in Amish clothing Celeste was not recognized neither was Jonathan. . Celeste didn’t know but she was being passed off to another agent. Amos got Celeste back to Jonathan and helped them get to another vehicle. Jonathan was also dressed in Amish clothes. He had called his boss at the thrift store. Jonathan told Celeste he was raised Amish but left his family \as he had felt God had called him to be a cop. That he had just went about things wrong. But Celeste also said she lost track of the times he had called out to God to help them through. Than he told her she was being reassigned to agent Stacy and they probably would never see eachother again. Celeste was trying to ignore the prickling of tears at the edge of her eyelids and the pain of her breath as it rose and fell from her chest. Than a car came out of nowhere and hit them. The man had Celeste when Jonathan prayed and then came to get Celeste back. But the man used chloroform and Celeste would be out for awhile. Again it was for a fifty thousand dollar pay off. Than Jonathan decided to Take celeste to the safest place he knew- Amish country- Home.
I loved this book The only problem I had was the Amish didn’t want to be involved with the Englishers. At least that's what I thought even to this day was ture. Maybe things have changed in the strictness of Amish beliefs. I loved Jonathan and Celeste together and how they interacted with each other. I loved how Amos and his family and Jonathan’s father helped to keep Celeste safe. How Celeste’s faith helped her through her ordeal. Jonathan was finding his way back to God also and I loved that. I wish I could rate this as a 4.5. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book.

Jonathan Mast left the Amish when he was eighteen, because he felt that God was calling him away from his Pacifist upbringing to protect others by serving in law enforcement, and now he is a US Marshall.

Celeste Alexander is a computer programmer who uncovers a scheme to steal millions from unsuspecting people. She is placed in a safe house under witness protection, but when her cover is blown repeatedly, Jonathan decides to take her to his hometown without telling her of his Amish past.

Will Jonathan and Celeste be able to take down the company that is after Celeste's life?

Coming home brings up past wounds for Jonathan, and he must face his brother and father whom he not spoken to since he was eighteen years old. He finds himself opening up to Celeste, but he doesn't want to have feelings for a woman that he will have to say goodbye to once the case is over.

Celeste struggles to trust God through the hurricane that has swept through her life, she is surprised to find that life without technology is actually relaxing, even though before it was how she made her livelihood. I admired her faith, she it isn't easy for her to have her life turned upside down and but she holds to her faith, and works to put away the people who are after her.

Overall, a fast paced read with well developed characters and a fantastic plot. I loved how Celeste and Jonathan got to know each other, and helped each other while they were working together. Celeste has a strong faith and is a good listener. I loved everything about this book, and it ends with a bang! You won't want to miss this Inspirational Suspense!

I loved this book. The excellent mystery/suspense was intense from the first pages of the book until the end. The main characters, Celeste and Jonathan, were interesting and it was easy to relate to their invididual stories. The Amish community was treated with true respect in this book. It is an unusual Amish story with Jonathan being an ex-Amish US Marshall and Celeste being the expert computer programmer that Jonathan is protecting. There’s a sweet romance that adds to the book but does not take away from the suspense. Even though this is a shorter book, the story felt complete and the ending was not rushed. I’ll be wanting to read this series and look forward to reading another book by Maggie K. Black.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

"Amish Hideout" is a Christian romantic suspense novel. Celeste is excellent with computers and at finding patterns and connections. She has uncovered the man who electronically stole money from thousands. She's now in witness protection until she testifies at his trial. Even though she has given all this information to the FBI, for some reason she has to be the one to explain it at the trial. The bad guy sets a bounty on her head, and the only way to avoid being captured is to avoid any electronic devices. Once they figure this out after repeated kidnapping attempts, they end up in an Amish community. It so happens that her FBI protector came from this Amish community, and he mends family relationships while they are there.

The characters were brave, earnest people that I cared about. Each was willing to risk their lives to help others, and each was good at what they did. I like that they respected each other. The suspense came from repeated attempts to kidnap her. There was a lull while they were in the Amish community, but the danger was even higher when she came out to testify.

The Christian element was praying to God for help and God's calling to use their abilities to help others even when it brought trouble with it. There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I'd recommend this enjoyable suspense novel.

I enjoyed this Christian romantic suspense and would be interested in reading more in this series. The characters were likeable and I was anxious to see how the story resolved.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.
