Palm Beach is synonymous with designer handbags, flashy cars, and country clubs. This kind of lifestyle is typical for Faith Harrison, owner of a high end consignment shop, Vintage Tales. Her husband, Edward, is a respected business man in the community who adores his wife and only daughter, Katherine. Faith's million dollar plus home is the envy of her peers, as is her place in society as she chairs the season's most prominent charity events. Many consign and shop at her upscale store, trusting Faith to keep their confidences when it comes to their designer labels. Being part of the "in" crowd is more important than the day's news for it dictates where one stands among the rich and famous. When a dark secret threatens Faith's marriage and her future within the Palm Beach society, she quickly learns who will stand by her side and who will turn away.

A Palm Beach Wife is a compelling read filled with lies, secrets and drama. A guilty pleasure for Lilly Pulitzer devotees, it's the right blend of intrigue and entertainment. The Palm Beach backdrop gives it an alluring setting showing just how important status is for a woman in Floridian society. With juicy gossip and saucy wit, the shocking ending makes this latest novel by Susannah Marren a top book pick this spring.

I absolutely love the cover and the description had me very excited to open the pages! This is a fun, light hearted read about life in Palm Beach. Faith's lavish lifestyle is dreamy and you instantly love or hate her. Unfortunately, I wanted a little more out of this book. The story comes with lots of turns and twists but the name dropping of designer labels and Palm Beach hangouts got overwhelming. The pace of the story picked up in the last pages but I am not exactly sure what happened at the end?!?!

This story tells us what happens when a wife is not paying enough attention to her husband's business, especially when he starts acting differently. Faith runs an upscale consignment shop and heads charities and stands by her man until he tells her that he's lost their money is bad dealings. Then, she must try to protect their daughter and sell what she can to survive, but she can't hide their secret from Palm Beach society.

Thanks NetGalley for the preview!

I thought this book had so much potential. I was expecting something akin to the real housewives with drama and relationships a plenty. I was let down by the story overall. I also felt like Faith was painted in a bad light. So many people remark how business smart she is and she doesn't notice her husband is back to using drugs and has lost all of their money. How is it that someone who runs a business never looks at a bank account? Seems fishy. I really did not expect the ending and I think it was a bad deal for Faith. She rents that house to have a fresh new start and then that terrible thing happens in her new home. Just an unkind way to leave her character.

There was one formatting issue that drove me crazy-when the story would jump to another time or place and there was no page break or textual indication. I found myself re-reading things to understand where the story was going.

I did love the idea of her store and that she worked with her best friend and daughter(s)! I would love to hsop in a store like that.

Thank you so much to St. Martins Press and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I was so intrigued by this book at first mainly due to the cover. It's absolutely gorgeous and after reading the synopsis of this book I thought it sounded really good, it had potential. But then it really fell flat for me.

Faith and Edward are very wealthy and living a great life with their rich friends in Palm Beach. They have multiple vacation homes all over the globe and Faith runs a very successful vintage designer shop. Then her husband Edward drops a huge bomb on her, they've lost all their money and he needs help getting it back. Desperate to keep it from their friends and the community, they start trying to build back up their wealth even with betrayals hitting them left and right.

This book was absolutely ridiculous to me. Instead of being worried about how they were going to pay for anything or how to get their money back Faith is more worried about how this will look to her friends and the fact that she can't get into certain areas anymore. Really?! And everything that she let Edward get away with was insane.

Another thing I couldn't stand is all the designer name dropping throughout the book. I understand this is about very wealthy people and their numerous designers they love but I honestly found myself confused and thinking some of the names dropped were actually characters in the book.

To me it felt like this whole book was just about a palm beach wife whining because she had no money and turning a blind eye to everything her husband was doing. I really wasn't a fan of this one.

My least favorite part of this site is when I have to write something negative about something someone probably poured their soul into... but I just did not like this book. I gave it an earnest try... several earnest tries, actually, and still could not finish. I forced myself to read 37 percent but couldn't go further. Waaaay too much brand name dropping; empty, self centered, vapid characters U couldn't relate to; clinky, empty story. I could go on. It was disappointing because I thought the synopsis sounded like a great beach read, something light and fun- but that just was not the case for me. The bones of an entertaining book are there- the author clearly has writing skills and talent, and she came up with an interesting storyline. This book could have been so much MORE. I won't be reviewing this any further or hand selling at my store, because I can't do either in good conscience. I'm sure there is an audience that will eat this book up with a spoon; I am just not that audience.

A Palm Beach Wife is about the Harrison family. Edward a successful businessman, Faith his loyal wife with a little business on the side to keep her busy and Katherine their beloved daughter who is getting ready to go to graduate school. But it is also about what happens when you lose everything you have but in the process find everything you have ever needed.

Living the Palm Beach lifestyle seems like it would be heaven, but in reality the anxiety of always being on and never making a mistake can be brutal. You are only worthy of the lifestyle for a long as your worth holds out. Faith and Edward are worth a lot, until they are not.

With their lives falling apart it is up to Faith to keep her head high and to try to fight her way out of a terrible disaster. She soon finds out who her true friends are in a town where superficiality is the word of the day. She must also stay true to her husband and family although temptation is all around her.

In a town where gossip is vicious and chairperson titles can be taken away at the drop of another fifty thousand dollars, Faith must try and hold herself together in order to keep her family together so they can all come out of this with their dignity intact.

Thank you #NetGalley #St. Martin's Press #A Palm Beach Wife #Sussannah Marren for the advanced copy of the terrific book. The book comes out on April 9.

A Palm Beach Wife is a very interesting story of how communities of privilege interact. It's an intimate story of who will be there for you when your life unravels and you have no where to "hide". These women are taught to show your "palm beach smile" no matter what you are facing. Most of these women move on from their problems and find another rich partner, as to not upset their social life. This is a story of triumph and a woman who knows how to take control of her life and not be a victim of a man's bad decisions. It's an easy read that is full of ups and downs in a very privileged life. Highly recommend this journey.

It should be criminal to compare this book to anything Elin Hilderbrand has ever written. This book did not contain an ounce of joy and its language was so clunky that I felt like I was reading an instruction manual, at times. These characters talked at and over each other, never with one another. I am honestly mad that I finished this one because the ending was so perverted in attempting to be interesting and/or different. That is, it was so bad that it became predictable. I would skip this one unless you want to read about completely vapid characters that are not written well.

A Palm Beach Wife comes out this week on April 9, 2019, and you can purchase HERE. Hopefully you have better luck with this one than I did!

Dreamless. That's what her life has become, Faith realizes an hour after she leaves the shop. She pulls up to the Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale, parking on the far side of the main entrance, avoiding the valet. By the ocean, south of Palm Beach, the Florida Gold Cost is pacifying. Not her turf, the charm is untainted.

I adored A Palm Beach Wife. It’s the perfect beach or poolside read. Filled with gossip, drama, fabulous fashion and Palm Beach Hotspots, it was like an ice cream cone in book form! I devoured it in one day and couldn’t stop reading. The name dropping was frequent, and while I truly loved that part, I could see someone else thinking it was over-the-top. I personally felt that was a highlight. I loved Faith and how she pulled herself together and took over when faced with two separate crises. Faith is faced with losing her home, her life, and her husband and while she does wallow a bit in the beginning, she overcomes her self doubt to pull her family together. I have feelings about the cliffhanger ending.... will there be a sequel? I sure hope so!!! I’d recommend this book for fans of Sophia Kinsella and Lauren Weisberger.

I was so excited to read this book, and now that I have finished it I am not sure what to say about it. The story line sounded incredible and I expecting so much more. I will say this book is set in some pretty intriguing settings and the premise is great I am just tore up about what the story is missing.

OMG these people are shallow! Edward has lost all their money and Faith, his wife, is concerned about her social standing in Palm Beach- especially because she's supposed to be the solo host of a fundraiser. And that won't happen if his check doesn't clear. Good grief. He's upset because they're going to have to do something about their homes in Colorado and London. Oh, and that he's lost all their money. Fortuitously, Faith has a high end consignment business so she's used to seeing others bring in goods when they need cash. Readers of fashion mags will rejoice in the name dropping (I googled for pics of a few purses and a picture frame). Faith's secret past also arrives on her doorstep but that seems less a concern than anyone knowing that Edward's, ahem, lost all their money. AND, well , his old problem is back. Thanks to Nergalley for the ARC. I hate to admit this but I read every word- partly in horrid fascination and partly just for kicks. Try it if you're interested in knowing about life in high end Palm Beach (and eating at Mara lago.)

I loved this book . What a great and easy read. Perfect for summer. Faith is a survivor and she handles everything beautifully.

Palm Beach is where the rich and famous play. Faith and Edward belong to the monied elite, until it becomes revealed that addictions have taken away this family's foundation. What could have been a frothy beach read with a riches-to-rags-to-? storyline falls flat. Character development leaves readers wanting more (and caring less). Some may enjoy this one, but it missed the mark for me.

I wanted to love it, but I didn't. The premise was there but there was something lacking. Characters with depth perhaps? There could have been so much more to this story.

A perfect beach or poolside read - funny, witty and a juicy look into Palm Beach society and the troubles of the wealthy residents and vacationers. The descriptions of the characters are half the fun, but the main character and her family are likable enough to carry you through the more superficial troubles they face throughout.

This book wasn't for me.
I really like the writing, it flows well and it's easy to read. But I didn't connect to the characters and the setting. I found the whole name dropping to be a bit annoying, and I absolutely could not stand the way Edward treated his wife, for me, it took away from the story.

I am not going to lie, I wanted a little bit more out of this book. The cover and description sounded like just what I want in a juicy summer read. While the book did grow on me throughout the ending left me a little disappointed.

Palm Beach where status is everything is home to Faith, Edward, and their daughter Katherine. When Edward finally tells Faith that he has lost all the families money Faith must figure out what to do next. (This was when I silently yelled at Faith for sticking by this man!) When Edward relapses with a cocaine habit while trying to find money to pay back his creditors and heads to rehab Faith must figure out how to solve all the families problems while not becoming the talk of the town.

I will say that I loved Faith as a character other than sticking with Edward through some unsavory situations. She was able to be an independent woman and solve the problems her husband had gotten the family in all while taking care of her family and continuing to run her shop. The ending to this book for me did leave a lot to be desired but I would still recommend it as a good pool or beach read. Super quick and readable!
