Becky is Meghan's Mom. In fact, this defines her in practically every possible way. Meghan started having strange symptoms in the last two years and yet doctors could not find a diagnosis. Becky knows her daughter is NOT making this up. It's gotten to where Meghan's dad Carl does not believe it is real.

Carl has his reasons for doubting what kind of problem is at work in this family, because Becky grew up lying about her mother's supposed symptoms.... so her mom could keep collecting disability checks. It was 100% manufactured and to play the game well enough to keep getting checks, any a nd every advantage was put to work, teaching Becky to manipulate people as part of the game.

Is Becky doing a role-reversal where her daughter feels she must act ill? It's unclear. Is Becky using every trick to get doctors to pay attention? Oh, quite clearly.

Is something wrong with Meghan?
Or, is something wrong with Becky?

Everything changes when Carl himself suggests a specialist to see, and a diagnosis to look into, because the changeability of symptoms could BE a symptom with the disease nicknamed "Mito."

Suddenly, both Carl and Becky lose custody of Meghan as a hospital steps in to prevent abuse. They protect Meghan -- or do they?

Keeps you guessing. Worth the read.

WOW. WOW.
Could not put this book down, was totally engrossing. Full of twist and turns in every chapter. Every time you thought you knew who was harming Meghan, something happened to keep you guessing. This book kept me guessing to the very end and I surely did not expect that ending.
Very well written story with wonderful characters.

Saving Meghan is an excellent book. I was never sure exactly how everything would come together and when I finished reading the book, I wondered how I let the clues slip by me. I spent fifteen years working in psychiatric hospitals so I was familiar with the issues that played a part in this story. The medical aspects of this book were well researched and added to the excitement of trying to figure out who did what.

Congratulations to the authors for a well written exciting story. The characters were skillfully created and believable. The plot was interesting and came to a satisfying conclusion. I think this book is good enough to be a best seller. Look for it on the scheduled publication date: April 9, 2019

Thank you to St Martin's Press for the Advanced Reader's Copy.

Special thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review.
Fifteen year old Meghan has been in and out of hospitals, battling an illness that no doctor or test can detect. Her mother, Becky, has done of all of the research and talked to all of the doctors and still, Meghan continues to struggle with symptoms from an un-diagnosable disorder. As the symptoms continue and the illness remains a mystery, doubt begins to arise. Meghan’s father, Carl, and others in the medical community begin to wonder if the illness is all in Meghan’s head and, if it is, how big of a part did Becky play in putting it there? Becky is forced to go to extreme measures to keep her daughter safe and convince everyone, Carl included, that Meghan is sick and that she will stop at nothing to find a cure.
“Saving Meghan” by D.J Palmer, is a novel full of suspense and intrigue. The plot twists in this one will keep you guessing, and the speculations start right from page one. Each character could be as culpable as the next, and there is doubt in the reader throughout the novel as to the true circumstances of Meghan’s illness.
Other novels in this genre often have piles of characters that a reader needs to sift through, and the true culprit is often some random, barely mentioned character who reveals himself in the end. “Meghan” however, was different in that the cast of characters was small, and the path to the conclusion was not convoluted with unimportant players. The skill that Palmer has to be able to pull off a highly entertaining “who-dunnit” with a small cast is palpable.
Well-researched and creative, “Saving Meghan” will inform you as well as entertain you. The disorders and medical knowledge in this novel are not bogged down with medical jargon, which speaks to Palmer’s attention to detail and knowledge of his readers.
Prior to this novel, I was unfamiliar with Palmer’s work, but this novel has provided me with an excellent introduction to an author that I will most definitely investigate further. “Saving Meghan” is wrought with mystery and suspense, with passionate and honest characters, in a relatable and modern setting. Highly recommended!

Enjoyed the story of book but no much the setting since hospitals isn't my thing other than that the book was good. To me the mother was a wack job and her daughter took the brunt of abuse in the form of always seeing doctors. Had to keep reading till the end since the book was the type that you say to yourself now what's gonna happen.

This book is unbelievable! There are times when it is so heartbreaking that you will find yourself tearing up and other times you are so mad at the characters. It is so well written. This one needs to be a movie. Loved it!

This is an amazing book. I loved the plot twist. I couldn’t figure out who was the one responsible for hurting Meghan. I read a lot of thrillers and usually figure it out pretty fast. This one kept me guessing until the end.

A gripping page turner with with plenty of suspense. I was guessing at the outcome the entire storyline and was still surprised by the final twists. The plot and characters were well done. Medical aspects of the story were believable. The author’s writing technique was clear and concise with plenty of descriptive details to make you feel like you were in the hospitals, hotels, ICU, etc. right along with Meghan and Becky.

Many thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for an advanced reader’s copy of this excellent book.

Meghan is a healthy, active and lively teenager who begins to weaken and feel sick meanwhile doctors can’t find anything wrong with her. Her mother is accused of having Munchausen Syndrome by proxy and believed to be making her daughter ill......but is she really? Or is something else really going on? Where does Dad stand on all of this? Are her doctors trying to really help or do they have their own motives for dragging her illnesses out?

Once you begin reading you’ll be hooked. Fasten your seat belt, it’s a great ride.

Even though the subject matter of this book made it hard to read at times, I couldn't put it down. Well written believable story. The twist at the end was a real surprise but one that made the book that much enjoyable in my opinion.

It has taken me awhile after I finished reading Saving Meghan to write this review because I couldn’t decide if I liked this book or not. The story started out very slow. I had a hard time connecting to any of the characters because everyone is flawed. That being said I enjoyed the writing style in that the perspective changed with every chapter revealing insight into the story from every point of view. The story made me question how I would react if it were my child and spouse. I was a little let down at the end of the book because I felt there were still questions to be answered. I received a copy of this book from St. Martins Press through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

Saving Meghan was slow to start for me. I had the pleasure to be given the chance to read this ahead of its release! This book kept me guessing till the end. Becky’s daughter Meghan is sick, and all points to one thing but as we know in a lot of books, especially good books a lot of times things are not what they seem. Great book, thanks for the opportunity to read and review and I will be looking for more from this author.

Saving Meghan is a story about what lengths a mother will go to, to save her child.
Meghan has been mysteriously sick. Her mother has taken her to one doctor after another and has never been able to get a true diagnosis. Every test has come back as nothing and yet Meghan is still getting sick.
Meghan's father is tired of all the tests and starts to accuse his wife of putting this illness into their daughters' head.
Certain events happen that will make you question the mom, the dad, the doctors and more.
It took a while for me to figure out who was the culprit and who Meghan can trust.

I was so apprehensive the whole time I was reading this book. Can they save Meghan? What’s really wrong with her? Does she have a disease or is someone making her sick? Delve into the minds of 2 very different parents, explore their upbringing and decide which one is correct in how to solve the mystery of a sick daughter. My heart broke for these people and the ways each one handled their daughter and her illness. It’s quite obvious the anguish any parent goes through in trying to help a sick child, but can it ever be enough? Or is it possibly too much? This novel gives us quite a bit of history into medical diagnosis and treatments offered, as well as hospital bureaucrats. Riveting to the end, with a big reveal that you don’t see coming. Just read it already!

This was a quick read. The story is about a highschool teenager who plays soccer, with a loving mother and father. Pretty typical stuff, right? Except, Meghan gets sick, she has no energy, something must be wrong, or is whatever she has self-inflicted? Is someone else making her sick? Is Meghan's mom making her sick on purpose so she can take her to doctor after doctor for the attention? What is going on? What is causing Meghan to suddenly grab her stomach in pain and see blurry and pass out? I enjoyed the way this story was written, when I got to a certain point, I just had to finish. #savingmeghan #netgalley

I received an advanced copy of this book on Netgalley.com. Thanks to Netgalley.com and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review.

Meghan is sick. No one knows why. All are looking at the mother, who seems to want nothing more than her to be terminally ill.

This is not your average sick child melodrama. D. J. Palmer has written a story with twists and turns and an ending that I didn't expect. The story is told from multiple points of view without getting lost in details and doesn't get bogged down in medical jargon, a rarity in medical based dramas. The story is more than a medical drama, it a suspenseful page turner that doesn't disappoint.

This is the first novel I have read by this author. It was fast paced in some parts and slow moving in others.
I read the ending several times because I am still not sure what happened!
All in all an. Entertaining read.

I have previously read Delirious by D.J. Palmer and thoroughly enjoyed it, so I was excited to read Saving Meghan.

Meghan is a very ill 15 year old and a medical mystery to every specialist her mother takes her too. Naturally the question of Munchhausen by Proxy syndrome raises it's head. Or is it Munchhausen's and Meghan is looking for attention. Too make matters worse her father appears to be wearying of the constant trips to the hospital and her mother's never-ending quest for the cause.

Initially I thought I knew where this book was going and it seemed to be taking some time to get there. Happily I was wrong! You alternate between sympathy for the mother and the father, you then alternate between suspicion of the mother and the father. I love a good twist - I read this book in one afternoon and will definitely be reading more of this author's book.
