I purchased Saving Meghan because I thought it may be a good narrative of the caregiver's perspective and the relationship with a loved one. This book provides a unique perspective along with many unexpected twists and turns!
It touches on a mother's love, a teenager's zest for life, with a mix of marital problems and courtroom drama. A must read!

What a roller coaster ride! This book was full of twists and turns and a totally surprising ending. As a medical professional, I have encountered women like a Becky. This story kept me engaged from page one. Thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

D.J. Palmer has written a “ripped from the headlines” story of a mother’s strong love and battle to find the answers for a mysterious medical problem with her daughter Megan.
From the encouragement of her online friends, to the deviousness of a medical doctor in cohoots with Megan’s dad and dealing with Children’s Services taking parental control, Megan realizes the only one truly trying to save her is her mother.

As soon as I thought I had this book figured out there would be a twist that made me doubt myself! It's a book that makes you stay up just a little bit later to try and get it finished. I have experience with some of the medical conditions in this book- so details rang a little hollow to me. That is the only reason it didn't get 5 stars. Definitely worth a read!

An entertaining medical thriller. Although a little too slow paced for me until the end when the twist was revealed. But all in all a decent novel that should appeal to a wide audience.

I teuly enjoyed how different this book was from all of the other thrillers out there. The twists and turns kept me flipping the pages all the way through the unexpected conclusion. Definitely worth reading!!

This was an interesting read that was perhaps too long. Issues within the storyline I felt became at times repetitive. The mystery aspects of the story became for me obvious halfway through the book. I guess that is because the obvious is rarely how a story turns out. But it was an enjoyable book as a quick read.

If you love medical mysteries, this is a must read. It begins a little slow, but don't loosen your seat belt. It is a roller coaster ride all the way through with unexpected twists and turns. You think you can figure it out? Not this one! Recommend.

I have really mixed feelings about Saving Meghan. Typically, I really enjoy medical thrillers, but this one didn't quite work. It had lots of twists and turns designed to keep me guessing, but the ending just doesn't cut it. I didn't find the protagonist to be believable or even probable when finally revealed.

Saving Meghan is an interesting and compelling read that left me gripping the pages until the very end. As a reader, I love unexpected endings that I don't see coming and this is exactly what I got with this book. I look forward to reading more from the author in the near future!

What could cause a healthy girl to become sick? That question is at the heart of Saving Meghan. 15-year-old Meghan now suffers from a myriad of symptoms and illnesses. Her mother Becky takes her from doctor to doctor, but no one provides a conclusive diagnosis. Becky is obsessed with getting help for Meghan, and she can be pushy, rude, argumentative, and flirty, depending on who she is dealing with in her quest to get what she wants. Carl, Becky's husband, and Meghan's father is at the end of his rope. He is cold and distant with Becky and with no medical answers, he begins to believe that Meghan is mentally, not physically ill and Becky is her enabler.
There is a lot going on in this story. As Meghan's condition worsens, the subject of Munchhausen by Proxy is explored and people start to question Becky's obsession with her daughter's health. I didn't 'like' Becky, but I did change my mind about her motives several times. I would be sure Becky was harming Meghan, then something would happen and I was sure Meghan really was sick. There are numerous twists and turns and I didn't guess the ending. I don't think there was one character(except for Meghan) that I didn't consider at one point or another as not being above suspicion.
This happened to be the first book I have read about someone being ill, but no amount of medical intervention could provide any answers. This hit close to home as I went through a similar situation( though not as a teenager). It took four years of endless doctors and tests for my issue to finally be uncovered and treated, so I did empathize with Meghan and the fact that answers are not always easy to find.
This is the first book I have read by D.J. Palmer and I want more!
I received a DRC from St. Martin's Press through NetGalley.

What I liked: The storyline was intriguing & different.

What I disliked: The narration style was slow and repetitive. The inability to connect with the characters.

Overall, it's got a few twists (mostly the end) but the narration drags this story too much. I skimmed for awhile because i just wanted to know what was going to happen...I ended up jumping to the end of the book and I never do that! But the last sections of the book were actually a nice pace and good reading, just wish the beginning could have been the same.

I'm not a big fan of thrillers or mysteries but the medical aspect of this story caught my eye. I'm a bit ambivilant about this book - I kept turning the pages as I definitely wanted to know what was going to happen and how it was going to end; yet I didn't connect to anyone or anything throughout the story. I believe that was possibly intentional as it added to the stress of the story. The ending is a bit far fetched but I think those who read and enjoy medical thrillers will like this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an early release of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Fifteen year old Meghan has been in and out of hospitals for years, with no diagnosis. When doctors begin to suspect Munchausen by Proxy, things take a sinister turn. Is her mother at fault, or is something else going on? This novel is full of twists and turns right through to the bombshell ending. DJ Palmer has picked up his father’s mantle, and I’m looking forward to reading more medical thrillers from him.

What people will do for Love! "We leave marks on this world, as invisible as the trail of that bird out there."
This is one intense, medical, psychological thriller and if there are medical professional out there; this story is for you!
I could not figure out the mystery of this quick moving book until the very end.
Was it true that Meghan had Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy? Could it be that it was her mother that was causing her daughters dependence and demise? Why?
This novel is a family drama that has made me now want to read more from D.J. Palmer!
Well done!

I enjoyed my first read from DJ Palmer. I would classify Saving Meghan as a thriller more than just suspense as it was very intense and mixing in the medical aspects of Meghan's conditions made it very captivating. The topic of Munchausen syndrome is scary yet fascinating and I think the author did a good job keeping you guessing throughout. There were parts that slowed down the pace at times but overall it was a fast and enjoyable read. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. All thoughts and opinions are mine.

Compelling, gripping, suspenseful, thrilling....this story was all of these! Carl and Becky live a fairly affluent life. Their teenage daughter, Meghan is always sick, suffering with fatigue, aches, dizziness and often is too weak to even go to school. Becky takes her to innumerable doctors, none of whom can give a definitive diagnosis. I loved it that the characters got me involved. Some I disliked intensely, and then I would change my mind. Just when I thought I knew what was coming next....wham!... a twist! The ending took me completely by surprise.
