A rhyming, repetitive story for children. The pictures were fun. The text could have been bigger. Overall, I think the kids will enjoy it and start to repeat duck is stuck.

This was a simple and sweet book that would appeal to a very young audience, toddlers, babies, preschoolers. The illustrations were simple with little detail. Story didn't offer much for language, but still a nice read.

When Duck falls asleep in the lake, he conks out so hard that the lake freezes over and he finds himself stuck! Every one of his friends tries to help him, but to no avail. Finally, they try teaming up... and he's out! The art is sort of funky, but not in a bad way, and it's got a nice message about teamwork. Probably a good read-aloud.

Such a cute book! Read this with my daughter and she really enjoyed it. This isn't a new theme in children's books and we have read ones I've loved more, but she enjoyed it. Text and pictures are simple.

A cute book with a ton of rhyming and counting. My daughter had a tough time with some of the words, but that may just be her and if you are reading it to them it works even better. Its interactive and funny and she found it very entertaining.

Repetitive phrases for early readers. But font is too small. Illustrations are good. Silly book about a duck who falls asleep and gets stuck in ice.

Simple story

Duck is Stuck by Zoubida Mouhssin had a cute premise. Duck needs his friends help to get released from the iced over lake. Unfortunately both the text and the pictures seem ordinary. Probably a cute one time read for my great granddaughter.

'Duck is Stuck' by Zoubida Mouhssin with illustrations by Pascale Moutte-Baur is a picture book about a duck in a pretty impossible situation. It's cute and funny.

Duck and his family are migrating when they stop to rest in a lake. Duck falls asleep and when he wakes, he is stuck in the lake which has frozen over. A variety of nearby animals come to see and laugh and help. From the large moose, to the tiny fish, they all try to help. Will Duck ever get unstuck?

It's a pretty silly book, and I'm not sure it's even possible for a duck to get stuck this way, but it's worth suspending your disbelief. The text is simple and the illustrations are nice. Poor duck.

The title duck gets stuck in the lake, and he needs the help of friends to get out. Nice message, but I have personally read my son other books that had the same lessons and more interesting illustrations. The book seemed fairly simple for the suggested age range of 4-6..

I didn't like the storyline. I didn't like the unrealistic idea that a duck could fall asleep in the middle of a lake and not realize that it is snowing and that soon he is stuck in the ice, unable to move. This strange plot is supposed to be the starter of a deep story about empathy, friendship and working together, but even on those values it doesn't work. One after the other, the animals greet duck with their compassionless phrase: "How in the world did you manage to get into that situation?".

I particularly disliked that rabbit tries to crack the ice to free duck, which is a terrible idea to teach kids. It is tempered with moose who realizes that he is too heavy to crack the ice, but still, it then happens again with other animals.

The illustrations are minimalist and with pleasant colors, but I feel that they didn't always follow the story correctly. For example, when the duck finally set free, we saw a duck flying in the sky, looking at the ice down below. I first thought it was his friend coming back, before realizing that it was duck himself. There were no transition between "some tiny cracks in the ice" to "being free", in the way it was illustrated.

Overall, I want to avoid stories about animals staying in the middle of an iced lake while trying to break the ice. It is not a story I would want to read to kids, even if it involves friendship.

This is a cute, slightly silly (in a good way!) little book that feels appropriate for those who have Christmas in wintertime.
I have a soft spot for children’s books that feature a funny bird as a major character, and this one is no exception.
Simple in illustration and language, Duck is Stuck is a bit of fun for the festive season.

Animals work together to get a waterfowl out of the ice he’s stuck in, though everyone greets him with the same, ultimately rude, question.
Right away there’s a problem: the text is tiny! There’s plenty of room to make it bigger without messing up the artwork.
At the start there’s a page with the ducks sitting in a lake, but one of them is upside down, the webbed yellow feet sticking out. It made me chuckle. Another shows Duck breaking the fourth wall, looking startled to find himself in such a predicament. Nice to see that even a life-threatening situation isn’t taken too seriously.
3.5 pushed up to 4/5

Simple but beautiful illustrations. This builds a lot of tension for a children's story (will duck ever get free from the ice?!), so I think it will hold kids' attention.

Not the most exiting repetitive book out there, but decent illustrations.

Duck gets himself stuck in ice, and must get out. WIth a group of friends helping, he gets out. Each animal in turn tries to do it on his or her own, after learning that duck is stuc, and it is only when they all work together that they free him.

An ok picture book about working together.

A cute little book intimating that friends help friends. Cooperation is key is getting the stuck duck out of his predicament. Everyone was willing to help and cooperate.

I read this book considering the age it geared itself toward, I would say age 4-6. The artwork was was not overdone by the author. In some children's books the art/design is complicated and distracts the reader from the story. The story however was a common tale of the main character, the duck ,who found himself in a problem and needed help from his friends to get himself out of it. I would suggest that the same story is found too often in children's literature. I was involved with a children's library for 15 years and read this tale in many forms. When I asked my listeners what they thought would happen next most knew where the story was going. Yes that is good for a child to recognize in listening to the story but I found that many times when the story head down a different road, they become surprised and like the book even more.

"How in the world did you manage to get into that situation?"

Yes, you can fully expect this to be a family saying from now on, for this book is brilliant. Yes, it's a pleasant, genial moral about cooperation, as various animals encounter a duck that got stuck in a lake when it froze over, but it's so much more than that. I'd give six stars if possible for the design – mysterious footprints approach our heroic duck and stop short, only for us to realise it's a top-down view, and we couldn't actually see the arctic rabbit that made them. Then the blackbird comes along, and we can't even see him against the night sky, so it would appear to be a snowflake with a beak and legs. Daft, hard to describe, but just genius. The work loses such a strong start before the end, but I was smiling to the close of the drama and I don't even have someone of the target audience to share this with. So full marks for the artist going above and beyond as regards the expected visual wit, and well done to the author for a clear, simple tale. She'll make baby trout of us all...

“Duck is Stuck” is the tale of a duck who fell asleep and woke up with his legs stuck in a frozen pond. The story teaches children about friendship and the power of teamwork. Zoubida Mouhssin doesn’t patronize the audience and doesn’t ignore the fact that it is pretty strange for a duck to get frozen into a pond. Overall, this book is a good choice for kids between the ages of 3 and 7.
