This one started out strong for me. It was set in two timelines, one being 20 years ago and the other today. It took place at a summer camp which I loved. The author did a good job evoking feelings of nostalgia from the 1998 timeline. One problem was the characters. There were 5 siblings, a lawyer, a caretaker and a victim. None of them were likable or relatable to me. It detracted from the story how they treated each other. The chapters were short and the book flew by. The ending was a little flat, but did make sense. Though I didn't guess, I was not surprised either. I have read another by this author and will definitely read her again in the future.

This book.

I have to preface this by saying that I LOVE books based on summer camps. When I was a kid I was too shy to go to camp, so I think any time I read a book involving a camp I get excited.

This one is no different. 20 years ago something bad happened to a girl at the camp that the MacAllister's run and the mystery has never been solved. When the MacAllister children, now grown, come together years later their tasked with figuring out what really happened.

This book has everything I love. Camp. Different viewpoints. And jumping between the past and the present. I loved the mystery of this book and the feud between the family as well.

Throughout the entire book I had a few people that I suspected of the crime, but the end was very telling. I jumped through this book SO FAST because I just could not put it down. It's an excellent summer read for your next vacation or by the pool.

I am a huge fan of books set in a camp environment, so I had really high hopes for this one. It just didn't quite do it for me. It is not a bad book, just mostly predictable. It was difficult to connect with any of the main characters as they were all stock "types". The self-centered and reckless brother, normal sister, weird sister, etc. I did like finding out what actually happened to Amanda. That was a different idea, but overall, the ending just wasn't there for me. I saw the much overused "major twist" a mile away. This was my first from this author and I would try another from her.
Thank you to NetGalley, Ms. McKenzie and Lake Union Publishing for the ARC.
I will post more reviews on June 01, 2019. These will be to Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Twitter and Facebook. My review can also be found on Goodreads.

Seventeen year old Amanda was smashed on the head, twenty years ago, at the MacAllister family’s Camp Macaw. Now the five MacAllister siblings have been called together for the reading of their parents' will, after their parents died in a train accident. Everyone in this family has secrets and it seems they each know something about what happened that night, twenty years ago, that they haven't shared with the others. Now their dead father is instructing them to figure out who attacked Amanda because he thinks it's one of them, and the estate can't be settled until they have done as he has instructed.

This is an Agatha Christie type whodunit and it was an enjoyable and quick read for me. The short chapters are written from the point of view of the siblings and Sean, the camp caretaker, who has never wanted to anything other than to continue taking care of the camp. Whether the camp continues to be run by the MacAllisters or gets sold to build condos, also depends on what the siblings learn and decide, after a final vote, once the mystery has been solved.

After reading this book, I'll definitely be reading more of Catherine McKenzie's work and I see that she has a lot of books already other there for me to read. Thank you to Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for this ARC.

I am a McKenzie fan and have read all her books but some of them connect with me more than others. This book was a good read and McKenzie continues to be a talented writer however I didn't find anything memorable about this book. This book was smart and there was a lot of potential but I found myself eager to just hear the answer. I'm glad I read this book and would recommend it to fans of McKenzie. However, if someone is new to McKenzie, I would recommend some of her other books first.

Catherine McKenzie is starting to become one of my favorite mystery authors. Her books may not have started out this way but she definitely has a talent for writing in this genre.
I'll never tell is a perfect example of this. I thought I had everything figured out, only to keep being proven wrong. This was one of the perfect, on the edge of your seat novels I've read in awhile. I want to be able to go back to before I read it just to be able to get the first time thrill again. I have nothing bad to say about this novel. I loved everything from the characters to the story jumping back and forth from past and present to the suprises. I can't help but love this book and recommend it to others. However, I'll never tell how it ends.

You don't get to pick your family, but the MacAllisters are a special group. Each one was so broken by the family as a whole and how from the outside looking in the probably seemed like they had it all. The pieces slowly come together so the fate of Camp Macaw can be determined, but what a fun ride to have. I'm so glad that all people concerned had a point of view to tell their story so all the secrets could be unraveled to the reader. Thank you to NetGalley and Lake Union Publishing for the oppurtunity to read an advanced reader copy for review.

I fell in love with Catherine McKenzie's writing after I read "The Good Liar". My goodness was that one of my top reads last year!!

So, naturally I was ectastic... first person in line to request her new book via Netgalley!

I'll Never Tell is a suspenseful thriller that takes you on a journey to find out what happened to Amanda at Camp Macaw.

This is a multi-layered story that explores family dynamics to it's core. Family secrets, family lies, sibling relationships, and the stories we tell our own selves to cover up lies.

This was a carefully woven plot intertwined to the story of Amanda. The story was enjoyable but it felt a bit too drawn out for my tastes. I was getting confused of the siblings and found myself having to go back to remember who was what etc.

I'll Never Tell isn't my favorite by this author and felt a little disappointed upon the ending. I was hoping for a bigger bang to the buck. But, I'll give McKenzie this her characters are all unreliable which leaves you guessing what the heck is going on!

Overall, this was a decent read and am always coming back for more from McKenzie!!

3.5 stars for I'll Never Tell

I'll Never Tell is a fantastic novel that kept my attention from page 1. The setting of sleepaway camp was great. I enjoyed the family dynamics that the author crafted which added to the mystery. The story was told in alternating perspectives leading the reader to not know if the narrator was unreliable or not as I felt like everyone was a suspect!

The Ending WOWED me! Another great page turner from Catherine McKenzie!

This story revolves around five siblings and their search for the truth about a horrible incident that occurred at their family’s summer camp twenty years prior. This was an interesting premise to me, but it fell a little short. It had so many main characters and jumped around a lot as a result, and the characters dynamic was just hard to relate to. I felt like I didn’t get to know much of any of the characters and had a difficult time keeping them straight. The book had twists that I didn’t see coming, and that made it a little better. Overall, it wasn’t a bad story, just not one that really sucked me in.

Thank you netgally for this advanced copy, in return for my honest review.

I was given an advanced copy for an honest review.

What a wonderfully written story with so many twists and turns. Family is always complicated. But the children gather to say good by to their parents and settle their estate, the past needs to be dealt with.

All the kids must go back to an awful night in their childhood and find the truth.
Will the truth come out? Will they be able to move forward.

What a choice! Fans of novels where siblings must come together to resolve their own histories after the death of a parent will enjoy this one. The terms of their father's will dictate that the five Maccalisters must determine who killed Amanda 20 years ago before they can dispose of the property he has left them. More specifically, did Ryan do it? Told from each of their viewpoints, as well as by Sean the handyman, it has a lot of twists. A lot. Despite the large cast of characters, it's easy to keep track of who's who. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This one kept me and will keep you guessing.

A dysfunctional family at its finest. Everyone is keeping a secret, but when they all get together for a memorial week end, the secrets slowly come out one by one. Secrets that should never have been kept in the first place. Secrets that have ended up hurting others in the process. This was not a book that I was really invested in. The characters were highly unlikable and selfish. By the end I didn’t really care about any of them or their outcome.

I have read and really enjoyed all the books that Catherine McKenzie has written, unfortunately , I had a hard time with this story, it felt as though I was very slowly trudging towards the end. Lots of characters here with alot of information to process in regards to each of them but I just couldn't get interested enough. I do look forward to reading more books by this author.

A bit new to this author. Suspenseful, and thrilling. It had me sitting on my edge of my seat. Didn't expect the ending

Brother and sisters come together at a family camp for a reading of the father's will. All of them wondering what will happen with the family run camp that shared many memories. All were surprised on the odd conditions left on the distribution of the camp. The conditions put upon the kids put them in situations that they never wanted to deal with.
I enjoyed this book very much, it was to me intriguing to see how each character dealt with the situation. My favorite character was Lennie, I guess because she was different from other and didn't always follow the expected social rules of life. I felt I could identify with her.
All the characters were so well developed, I felt i knew them well by the end of the book.
A very good read and real page Turner!

Your typical murder/mystery. I’ve read so many that at this point I could probably write one!

Enough secrets and surprises to keep it interesting if you haven’t exhausted the genre like I have.

This would be a good one to take to the beach.

2.5/3 stars overall.

*I received an ARC of this book from Lake Union Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Not my favorite of McKenzie’s books. It did keep me guessing, but just seemed kind of anti climatic at the end. I will continue reading her books, however.

In “I'll Never Tell” by Catherine McKenzie, we meet the MacAllister children. Twenty years ago, in a camp their parents ran a dead camper’s body was found. Now after their parents are tragically killed, they are all together at the reading of the will. But their father has some stipulations and until they figure out the mystery of what happened to Amanda nothing can be done. But as they unravel that night’s happenings, family secrets are revealed and everyone is a suspect.

Captivating story with a great set of characters. I received this book through Net Galley and this is my honest review
