This is by far the best mystery I’ve read in a long time.

Twenty years ago, Amanda washed up to shore at Camp Macaw, blood pouring from a gash in her head. She was just seventeen years old at the time, a camp counselor. Her best friend was Margaux, the second oldest of the MacAllister clan. And she had a huge crush on Ryan, the eldest sibling of the family who owns the camp.

There is middle sister, Mary, and the twins, Liddie and Kate. When they are all called to convene for the reading of the will after the deaths of their parents, secrets start to unravel as to what really happened to Amanda that night.

This is such a well done novel. Thanks to NetGalley and Lake Union for the opportunity to review this book, which RELEASES JUNE 1, 2019.

Needed more suspense and not so much of the book about the family dysfunction. Each chapter was told from a different family member's point of view. It did keep the story interesting, but it was also a bit confusing.
Thanks for the opportunity to read an advanced copy.

I really enjoyed the different point of views in this book. Every chapter there was a different point of view which kept the story interesting. If it was told from only one point of view I don’t think I would have enjoyed the book as much. The goal is to find out what happened to Amanda and there are a whole lot of suspects, at least 6. For most of the story I believed it was a certain person but then I was wrong. I appreciated the twist. I don’t think this was a thriller per say, but still a mystery. It kept me interested until the end but it wasn’t a stay up all night and find out who did it type of book for me. I did enjoy that I felt like I was really at camp with the lifers.

As a child that went to camp, this book brought back great memories of the experience I had. I loved the intricacies of the relationships between all of the siblings and the intertwined connections that each of the siblings had with Amanda. I did find that the story line did switch so quickly and often, I had a hard time keeping track of who the narrator was, and often found myself flipping back to the beginning of the chapter. The ending was great, very suspenseful!

I’ll Never Tell is a story that revolves around the MacAllister family. The MacAllister’s run Camp Macaw. All five MacAllister kids are adults and have gone their own ways, only to come back to camp for their parents’ memorial and reading of the will. But the will is twisted, and potentially leaves out Ryan unless a twenty year mystery is solved.

This book definitely takes the reader on lot of twists and turns with this highly dysfunctional family, but I didn’t find it suspenseful as much as it dove more into the personalities and quirks of all of the characters. This book has a unique way of having multiple points of view - seven in fact. Almost every character is heard from. And as you read, you change your mind about who did it. The author brought the characters to life by shining a spotlight on each character’s flaws and created a real family drama.

I struggled a bit with the plot as far as it seemed a bit overwhelming at times. There was a chart that showed locations of where people were at given points of time but this added to the volume of information the reader has to absorb. While the different perspectives gave the story an interesting twist, it did become hard to follow all of the different characters at times.

I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Where do I even start with a book that has me guessing until the very end.

This is a book told from 8 different POV and written in the first person. It did take me some time to keep all of the main characters and stories straight. But once I got it in my mind, I didn’t want to put the story down.

Just when I thought I could pin “it” on someone, I was convinced it was someone else. I could easily believe any one of the 8 main characters did it.

And let me just says that father is one messed up dude.

After reading the Good Liar and loving it, I looked forward to this new book by Catherine McKenzie. She did it again, a great read . The story is told in several POV, mostly by the siblings. Lots of surprise twists throughout. I hope she keeps writing these suspense novels.

Wow! What a great read! Full of suspense, twists and turns, drama, and a family with many secrets. This is definitely my type of book!

I really enjoyed reading this, and I wish there was a sequel so I could keep reading about this troubled family! One of my favorite things about this book was how the author kept you interested by adding bits of suspense in all the right places, ALL THE WAY through the ENTIRE book, all the way to the end! That doesn’t happen very often. Usually there’s a suspenseful introduction, a bit of nonsense, a climax, another bit of nonsense, more suspense, another bit of nonsense, and a conclusion. But not this book! It keeps throwing suspense at you from all different angles in all different ways throughout the whole book. How awesome is that?! AND...the author was able to do all that without making it sound super cheesy too!

There were some spelling errors in the ARC, but other than that, the book was great! Definitely recommend!

I wanted to love this book but the character development fell short of what I come to expect from this author.

This was a suspenseful thriller that reminded me of The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager. Both books were set in a summer camp where adult(s) return and try to solve a mystery/crime that occurred decades ago. One of the twists in this book was super predictable and obvious given the language used, so it did not feel like a twist at all. The ending was super anticlimatic after the huge build-up for so much of the story. However, I really enjoyed most of the story and mystery and it was a fun read!

Thank you #NetGalley for an advanced copy of #illnevertell!

Boy oh boy where do I begin??? This thriller is about a terrible thing that happened to Amanda while at summer camp in 1998 and trying to figure out exactly who hurt her amongst the MacAllister family. Mr. MacAllister leaves specific instructions to his five children in his will regarding who would get a share of Camp Magaw, but it all depends on finding out what happened to Amanda. Each sibling, Ryan, Mary, Margaux, Kate and Liddie as well as the groundskeeper of the camp, Sean, have their own involvement with Amanda the night she was attacked. This book is told alternating between all of their point of views. The whole time, until about the last few chapters I really thought I knew what had happened and who was responsible, and I was wrong!! You also get a bit of a twist in the middle that I didn’t see coming. Overall this was extremely fast-paced and I highly recommend it for anyone who likes a good whodunit!

This book is a well written and steady paced mystery, layered with strong character development and multiple perspectives. I like the way that the story toggled between Amanda's perspective in the past, and the MacAllister siblings perspective in the present. The family dynamics are so damn complicated and.... relatable. It makes me think of my own family.

There are some unique features of this book that really stood out for me: A handwritten map of Camp Macaw is included in the first few pages, and gave me a good visual of the property's layout. I love drawings in books! A grid with the time, people, and places is filled in after key chapters and helped me track who was where and when on the night that Amanda died. It is a great way to organize the clues.

This book is about family, siblings, love, memories, secrets, money, and of course, a summer camp. I loved it. I was enthralled with the camp, the sibling dynamics, and the suspenseful mystery of whodunit. I was dying to know how the sisters would decide on Ryan's fate, and whether or not they'd sell the camp. I wanted to binge read it. There were many twists and turns, and surprises sprinkled in.

This is my first read of Catherine McKenzie's work, and definitely not my last.

What an amazing thriller! I loved the character development and stayed up way past my bedtime to find out what was going to happen next. I highly recommend this author.

I always love Catherine McKenzie's books and this one was no different! I immediately felt connected to the McAlisters and Camp Macaw. I was surprised by the twists and turns and didn't see them coming! At times I got lost in some of the characters and so could have used a little bit more character development so that I could have avoided some areas of confusion. However, it was a fantastic read with an engaging story line and surprises around every corner.

Twenty years ago, Amanda washed up on shore off Camp Macaw in a rowboat with a gash on her head. Many were interviewed by the police, but an arrest was never made. Now the children of the camp owners are called together for the reading of the will. But there is just one minor thing they need to do - vote! But it's not that simple. In fact, it's complicated.

Who hurt Amanda at camp all those years ago? Who had a motive? Who saw her last? Who saw something? Who has secrets?

This was an interesting whodunit that also worked as an examination of family dynamics. About family secrets, about keeping secrets for others, about sibling relationships, and the walls we build around ourselves. You think you know your family? Think again!

This was a thoroughly enjoyable book. I enjoyed all the characters and liked how the Author had each have his/her own personality and quirks. The plot was very clever and carefully woven. This book had several twists and at one point I just KNEW that I guessed it, I KNEW I was so right, to only have another twist to blow that theory out of the water. The great thing was that each guess could have been plausible and when the reveal did occur it felt authentic/believable. I am not a huge fan of reveals that come out of nowhere just for the wow factor. The final reveal here was clever, well thought out and made sense. I also enjoyed the charts/forms throughout the book that let us know where each family member was at certain times during that fateful night. I'm happiest when I am wearing my super sleuth hat while reading and this book had me guessing and trying to figure out whodunit along with the characters.

WOW!!! Flew threw this book. A suspenseful drama full of twists and turns and above all - family secrets!! My first Catherine McKenzie novel and definitely not my last!

Her writing is tight and seamless, albeit the multiple POV's. She reveals each layer of the story at just the right time, keeping the reader at the edge of their seat, and always guessing. I was hooked from beginning to end and thought this was the perfect balance b/w family drama and suspense/mystery.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a truly unusual and extremely well written book. I am a fan of this author and trusted her to spin a good story. It involved a family owned summer camp that the children were going to be inheriting, but there was a catch. 20 years ago, a girl died at camp and it could be any of five siblings. Every plot point was well written and kept me guessing. Thanks for the ARC, NetGalley

One of my favorite books is Catherine McKenzie's The Good Liar - so I was so happy to receive this ARC and really looked forward to reading it! And trust me, this book did not disappoint!! A great, intricate story of family secrets and a 20-year-old, unsolved crime. The MacAllister family owns a camp where a woman. Amanda, washed up on shore with a gash on her head - and no one was ever charged with a crime. Twenty years later, the MacAllister children have to gather at the camp after the death of their parents to figure out what to do with the land. But what happened to Amanda all those years ago - are one of the kids responsible? Any one of them could have done it and each holds a piece of the puzzle in solving the crime.
I was on the edge of my seat all the way until the end! This was a great, thrilling read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Thanks to Catherine McKenzie, Lake Union Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this fantastic book!
