I think I say the same thing about all the Harlequin manga comics. I love how the illustrations bring the stories to life. The stories on their own are fantastic and some of them I've read in the book version, some I haven't. For the ones I haven't, the manga comic version always makes me want to go back and read them again to get more depth and detail, however, that does not take away from my enjoyment of the manga comic version. I love the illustrations. Some of them are utterly gorgeous.

I've always enjoyed Harlequin books and decided to give the manga version a try, since I also enjoy reading manga. I was impressed at the art quality of the manga. The emotions of the characters were very impressive and I was glad that I didn't have to make up how I felt characters looked like or acted. The only thing I was slightly disappointed in was the writing.

Usually Harlequin stories make my heart feel twinge of pain every so often at the problems that the main couple have but this one did not. Perhaps because the main woman, Paige, was already set on doing things her way and her conflict within the relationship with David did not seem too much of an issue. She is a strong woman and to be honest, I felt that if David was not willing to be more open with her from the beginning, or at least trust her to be strong enough to be independent yet willing to be by his side in spite of his work, then they should not have been together. The ending was okay but there were still many questions I had as to how David's job was going to further influence their relationship, if at all. This was a decent read, and I do look forward to more Harlequin manga to read in the future and hope they are better than this one.

The premise for this was really interesting but i just didn't like the two main character of David and Paige. They just felt flat and i wasn't in love with them.

Book Review
Title Undercover Man
Author: Hibiki Sakuraya (Illustrator) & Merline Lovelace
Genre: Manga
Rating: *****
Review: So, all I know about this manga comes from the synopsis: Paige works her desk job and is engaged to her boyfriend, David. He’s kind to her, but something seems to be missing. While the two of them are in Cannes for their wedding, Paige gets into trouble. Then, the truth is revealed to her. It turns out David is an operative for OMEGA, a secret agency. Paige finally has the chance to know the real David, so she offers her help with the investigation. And now she’s working undercover as a prostitute, carrying a small gun disguised as mascara, and her code name is Jezebel. Unlike other Harlequin Comics I think this one is going to be different as the core relationship is already established which it hasn’t been in any of the others as far as I can recall.
I don’t want to talk too much about what goes on in this manga, but it turns out that David is working for the government which Paige only learns after heading to France to call off her wedding to David. However, along the way she gets dragged into some very dangerous stuff and when David tries to get her safe and away from that stuff she refuses until she knows who he really is. This forces them to work together to solve this mystery with the help of several people who are just as hilarious of the main duo.
In the end, Undercover Man was heartfelt, funny and really shows what matters most to us no matter what the situation and how far we are willing to go to protect. I also really liked where the characters end up especially Henri and that alone make Undercover Man my favourite Harlequin Manga.

A very enjoyable story brought to life by some fantastic illustrations. A great read for fans of manga or of romance!

This has me intrigued. Little Henri was adorable. The romance on the realistic side. The characters made me feel many emotions. Good read.

This wasn't for me sadly. It started off really well and then it just lost my interest, the pace slowed too much and I got bored. I also found David to be patronising and took far too long for Paige to stand up for herself. The artwork , style and designs are really good and that's what makes me give this two stars rather than one . I wish I could say it was a good read, but it was nice to look at.

Horrible plot, one-sided characters. Not even really a good pacing system was in place. I really wasted my time with this manga. And if you enjoyed it great! I really am happy for you.

Reads like a 5-minute synopsis of a Harlequin novel. Not awful, but certainly no depth, nor was there enough content to really immerse in the story. The art is decent, but not extraordinary.

It was great fast paced and it kept my interest all the time.I haven't read this author before. So I'm going to try again other books!

Romance meets comics in this book. While the genre is not my interest, the medium is. Quality art meets a love story.

Terrible. The plot was so unbelievable that I couldn't make it a fourth in. Did not finish. Will not finish.

I really enjoyed this story. Unlike other romances, here we have an apparently established couple about to get wed. However, the heroine feels uneasy about how her fiance keeps her away from his job until the day she finds out he's a secret agent. She then insists on helping him in his mission and they both discover sides of each other that turn their affection into stronger passion and love.

I find the manga version of some old Harlequin old romance novel, the best way to go back in time a remember my adolescence when I thought that love was what they were talking about :)

Penso che queste versioni manga dei vecchi romanzi d'amore Harmony, siamo il modo perfetto per tornare indietro nel tempo alla mia adolescenza, quando pensavo davvero che l'amore fosse quello.

THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

Paige and David have a nice enough relationship. He is kind and takes care of her and he wants to get married. Paige wants to get married too but then doubts begin to flood in. There is something about David that seems to be missing and Paige feels that she needs to know him better before marrying him.

What is it that he is hiding?

David is working in another country and he feels this would be a great time and place to get married. Paige travels to join him but she is intending to break things off. Before she can get there she is kidnapped by a group of men but she manages to escape. Suddenly she is drawn into another world and this is David's real world. This is the part of him that David was hiding.

Paige is drawn into David's crime solving activities because the men that kidnapped her mistook her for someone who was going to sell them information. She bravely decides to continue the charade against David's wishes because he doesnt want to see her get hurt. When David realises that Paige is determined to help he agrees to her assistance and this is the turning point in their relationship. Instead if breaking things off they get to know each other more deeply as Paige is drawn into a world of espionage and danger.

Paige shakes off her fragile flower image and tries to become Laura Croft. She doesnt do too badly but the most important aspect of her transformation is David's reaction to her. After much adventure and danger there is a happy ending.

Great drawings and an amusing story. I wasnt sure it was supposed to be amusing but it is because Paige is a very improbable spy. The best part of the story is where Paige assists with the rescue of another agent and shoots the bad guy in the leg. After shooting him the good guys just leave the bad guy with a bullet in his leg and walk off. Paige and her allies dont even call an ambulance!

Review to come tomorrow on all sources mentioned in my profile.

I received this manga from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

The 4th out of 5 Harlequin Manga, and by far the most boring. Really, I practically fell asleep reading this one. For many reasons. Characters were bland, the story was weird and boring, the romance, what romance? I guess the art was good, though I wasn't a big fan of Paige's design.

In this one Paige discovers that her fiance/boyfriend is hiding something, and it is something big, he is working for a secret agency directly under the president. I can imagine that the girl is pissed about it, not that he does this work, but that he is keeping it a secret. Yes, I understand why he is hiding it, but then again, this isn't good for your relationship. Maybe, just maybe, he could have at least let her know he was indeed doing something special on the side, but can't tell her. Yet. So throughout the book we not only have the mission, but also David and Paige trying to figure out where they stand. Paige doesn't want to be engaged to him due to him keeping secrets and being distant, David is finding out that Paige may look frail but can also be something totally different.

Paige wants to show David that she can be awesome and she isn't as frail as she looks. She agrees to help him out on a mission. Now this all sounds pretty dang good, but sadly it is all boring as hell.

The villain, and how the mission progresses, ughhhh. It was just one big James Bond movie thing, all the cliches included.

David, honey, please, just don't wear your glasses. :P

The ending, with the wedding and what happened before that, I quite liked it. Happy that our pair is happy again, and I hope they learned to talk about their differences/take time to talk. I did think it was kind of nice what they did for Henri, though I do wonder if it was the best idea.

All in all, not sure if I would recommend this one. Now, one Harlequin Manga left, hoping it is better than this one.

So, Paige and David are engaged, but David has been keeping a big secret from Paige. He is an operative for a secret agency, and when Paige accidentally gets mixed up in an important mission, she wants to help. Working as an undercover prostitute, Paige makes David realize that treating her like a porcelain doll won’t let him love her the way he wants to. Once they get through all the secrets, will they be able to know each other well enough that they will want to get married?
I loved the art and I loved the supporting characters. Henri was hilarious!

This read was ok... I had much bigger expectations for this title as the premise was really intriguing but this one, unfortunately, felt flat IMO.
The drawing was good and nicely done, but lack f connection and tension/relationship made me lose interest in characters.
