I simply adore these Harlequin Manga comics. It doesn't even matter what the story is, I tend to love them all. The beautiful illustrations bring the stories to life for me and while they are short and an abbreviated version of the story, I find them satisfying nonetheless because I love seeing the illustrated depictions of the scenes and the characters. This one is another winner. And I apologise in advance that a few of my reviews are similar but really, I just love them all.

I loved that Marlene was smarter than she let on to the people trying to talk her out of the inheritance from her mother’s lover. I like the budding romance throughout.

Book Review
Title: Mistaken for a Mistress
Author: Marito Ai (Illustrator) & Jacqueline Baird
Genre: Manga
Rating: *****
Review: So, compared to the other manga I have read from Harlequin comics, the synopsis of this one surprised me the most as it didn’t seem to fit the usual themes that these mangas have had: A man shows up not long after Marlene’s mother and Paolo, her mother’s wealthy, married lover, die. The man says he’s a friend of Paolo’s and that he wants to discuss Paolo’s will with her. But then she overhears a cruel plot against her: “Seduce that low-class harlot who’s looking for a sugar daddy and leave her without a single penny.” Because Marlene, her mother, and Paolo lived together as a family, the man has mistaken Marlene for Paolo’s mistress…and decided to punish her.
We are introduced to Marlene and her younger brother Paul who is the son of her mother and her married lover Paolo. However, when family members of Paolo come looking for the mistress, Rocco mistakes Marlene for the mistress, not her mother who had passed away. They are ignorant thinking that she wouldn’t understand Italian, but she does, and she learns that they are planning to take the money Paolo left them and young Paul as well. Marlene being a good sister isn’t going to let this happen and plans to stop them any way she can. Rocco is planning to seduce Marlene and takes everything from her, but she plays him at her own game and it ends with her and Paul traveling to Italy to attend a director’s meeting for Paolo’s company.
In the end, we get to see Marlene uses her brains rather than her beauty to overcome the obstacles she faces and comes out on top with all the power and the man of her dreams. Overall, I really enjoyed Mistaken for a Mistress and it is my favorite Harlequin Manga so far.

Cute romance. Very funny and witty. I loved how the characters had drama before their romance bloomed. That misunderstanding was actually very hilarious to me. Enjoyed reading this.

I did not have enough time to read it. I just got approved today and it is due tomorrow.
I love that you are doing mangas based on romance novels!

Out of all the manga, i have read today this one is my favorite. This tells us a story of a very smart girl who is mistaken to be her mother. Once again i have to say the pacing of this book was to fast, give us a few more pages. If you are going to make it a romance really use that to hock people in. Because of the MC when form one moment hating a guy to the next page loving him. And im sitting there going did i miss something? Character development is great and we as readers want to see it.

It was a solid mange in Harlequin type.
Full of secrets and hidden truths that made the story funny, sad and for sure allowed me to enjoy myself while reading. But there were times where I skipped as I had not found them interesting so 3 stars are in place and not 4.

Our heroine is set on defending her uterine brother's rights to the legacy her mother's lover left her, but the man's legitimate family steps in the way and mistakes HER for the dead man's mistress. Things get weird when the man who was supposed to seduce her and drive her away ultimately falls for her instead...

I thought this would be risque being harlequin. As much story and illustrations as any shojo manga.

I find the manga version of some old Harlequin old romance novel, the best way to go back in time a remember my adolescence when I thought that love was what they were talking about :)

Penso che queste versioni manga dei vecchi romanzi d'amore Harmony, siamo il modo perfetto per tornare indietro nel tempo alla mia adolescenza, quando pensavo davvero che l'amore fosse quello.

THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!

This was a good romance with a strong female lead who manages to hold her own when her stepfather dies.

Despite the plans of her stepfather's former wife, Marlene plays them at their own game and manages to win and she does this despite being attracted to one of the laywers who yave been asked to handle the case.

Good, clear artwork with an engaging story to tell.

Like I said before I am a huge Manga fan, although I wish it were a little longer. The illustrations are super and lovely. It was super cute. I loved that Marlene tricked them into thinking she couldn't understand Italian.
My only complaint is the length and the fact that I go through them quickly, but I love it regardless.

Review to come on Monday on all sources mentioned in my profile.

I received this manga from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

And the third Harlequin manga! I am devouring my way through the 5 that were just added to Netgalley! Sure, they are filled with drama, but there is also romance, and I just adore that each one has a different mangaka drawing the story!

So, in this one we have a girl, who is mistaken for someone's mistress. Yep. Doing research? Why would you? Because if you did we wouldn't have this hilarious story. If they had done research they would have instantly known that the little kid was her brother, and it was her mother who was the mistress. :P Plus, come on, she is like 30? Maybe younger? How do they even think she is her mom? I had quite a laugh that she just went along with it. GO girl! I was kind of curious to see how far she would take it, and how long it would take them to find out who she actually was. Ah, I couldn't wait. *grabs popcorn for that inevitable drama that is going to happen*

Can I say that I was disgusted with how everyone treated the girl, or I should say their thoughts about her mother and her position as mistress. :|

Yes~ Yes~ The drama can start now that FINALLY someone noticed it. Haha, I just loved everyone's reactions to it.

After that I kind of tuned out. There was just too much blablabla and too little romance for my liking. Thankfully around page 100 there is a change, and boy, I loved it!

The Contessa, what an absolute *insert some mean words* person she is. Bah. Disgusting.

The story definitely picked up, and that ending *swoons* that was just so sweet and gorgeous.

The art was pretty decent, I say that, because the adults look all perfectly fine, but Paul, the little kid, looked more like a chibi, and at times his proportions were a bit weird.

All in all, it was a bit bland/boring at times, but there were times that I really enjoyed myself. In comparison with the other two I read this one was pretty tame. :)
