Ochesssa Starr is struggling to keep the Colorado family ranch going after the death of her mother. She decides to seek financial help from her brother, Will, and travels to Kansas to meet with him. When she arrives she sees a lone rider leaving his spread and finds Will close to death. He tells her the name of the man riding away, Nic Breedlove. Ochessa decides he is her brother's killer and tracks him down. She kidnaps him and manages to steal the box her brother gave him to take to Denver. Will Nic be able to convince her he is not the killer and the killer may still be after her? Will working together bring Nic and Ochessa closer together?

I liked the story and there was plenty of adventure. Ochessa is at times too full of herself and does stupid things trying to prove she can do everything a man can.. On the other hand she frets over trying to be more feminine as she lusts after Nic; she's not much of a cook and doesn't like to wear dresses. Nic tries hard to save her from herself but it comes off as a bit chauvinistic at times. I give this book 4 stars; there were some typos and missing words that are distracting to the reader. This may be corrected in the final edition..

I received an advance copy of this book through Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

This book was my introduction to Gina Rifkin. I really enjoy the story. If you like historical western stories this book is for you.
