Too often I don't give the opportunity to a "new to me" author, but in this case, I did. I thought the premise sounded like something I would like and would deal with some serious subject matter and have an air of humor to it. It had those things, but it just didn't hit home for me. The plot, while interesting didn't feel fully developed and there seemed to be holes throughout. I found myself skimming a lot of the book because I wasn't gripped by it. May I have missed some of the story? Sure. But it wasn't holding my attention, and I would rather skip to a book that had all these missing factors.

The story starts off with a very dramatic entrance. Rudy is married to a successful woman and they seemed to have it all. When she dies suddenly, that puts Rudy in a total tailspin. He is the pianist at the local Nordstrom and that is his outlet. He has a daughter that loves and supports him, but otherwise he is by himself. He finds himself in a nice friendship with a younger co-worker named Sasha. They are both dealing with their personal matters and they are there to support one another. After Rudy's daughter helps him deal with his depression, that is when Sasha and Rudy really develop their relationship. But the relationship and the whole story just fell flat for me unfortunately. I hate to leave a review for a book that had all the components to be a good book, but it just didn't flow and connect where it should have.

I'm sure Lolly Winston has succeeded in past books, but this time did not do it for me. I could say things I wish she would've done to the story, but this was her journey to take. This may appeal to some, just not for me this time.

Me For You is a great book covering the subject of grief. While fiction, it does a good job of delving into the different ways that grief affects people and their relationships. I enjoyed the book and read it in a couple of days. I found the ending very unsatisfactory though. It just leaves the reader hanging.

Interesting start to this story. The intrigue and guess work keep you turning pages. Not an easy plot to figure out.

Moving story of death and the heartbreak it leaves behind. Rudy has unexpectedly lost his wife and now is now trying to put his life back together. Depression and the possibility that his wife’s death wasn’t accidental has left Rudy in a downward spiral that he is desperately trying to come out of. With the help of his daughter and a dear friend from work Rudy navigates this new world he has been thrust into. Poignant, sad story of overcoming one of lives hardest obstacles.

Thank you to Net Galley for providing a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read Good Grief many years ago, and it has stuck with me all this time, so when I saw a new book by Lolly Winston, I snapped it up. Unfortunately, the magic Good Grief was not present in Me for You. I sympathized with Rudy Knowles as he navigated the ocean of grief after losing his wife, Bethany, but I wish the novel had not involved a hospital stay because I didn’t believe that Rudy had reached the point where he needed hospitalization. I loved the evolving love story between Rudy and his co-worker, Sasha, who was dealing with her own grief over the loss of her daughter, but I felt it would have been more believeable outside the hospital setting, The ending was just a bit too neat. This book was just average for me.

I liked the book well enough. I felt like her first book, Goof Grief, was better. This one has somewhat similar themes.

I liked the characters and the “smallness” of the story. I thought parts were odd though— like the slight mystery into her death and the main character checking into a psychiatric unit. I don’t think either storyline helped the plot much and made the book veer towards melodrama.

All in all, this was a good book. I was cheering on the main character on his journey through his grief. I did feel like the story could have been filled out more, gone deeper. It was very entertaining and was a quick and easy read.

First time readying a Lolly WInston story. I enjoyed it, but didn't love it. I am so happy to have been given the chance by the author, the publisher, and Net Galley to read the advance copy in exchange for an honest review. The characters were a little needy for me. A little sad, dark, and depressing.. That being said there was the basic story of how life doesn't always turn out as you plan. I just wish there was more happiness thrown in!

Poor Rudy. As the book opens he’s just grappling with the loss of his wife, Belinda. From the backstory we gather they were one of those couples that just goes together like peanut butter and jelly. They lived a quiet but happy life and just generally enjoyed each other’s company.

After Rudy’s loss, what was once a quiet life for two because an indescribably depressing and lonely life for one. We accompany Rudy on his journey through crippling grief and out the other side.

Definitely not a feel-good book all the way through, but a hopeful book and as I’ve mentioned before, a charming little book. And although I didn’t personally find it as compelling as other books I’ve read by the author, I do feel that the story and writing was true to Winston’s style.

I would recommend this book to fans of Lolly Winston, or even as a story for someone who is dealing with a loss of their own. Grief is hard to live with, but it’s also a huge part of living. There can be light at the end of the tunnel.

Special thanks to Netgalley and Touchstone Gallery Books for an e-galley in exchange for my honest review. This one is out March 12, 2019. I will post this review to my blog, Women in Trouble Book Blog, on February 12, 2019.

Me for You by Lolly Winston was a beautifully written book. I fell in love with Rudy and was swept into his new romance with Sasha, all while navigating the grief of losing his wife. The book really makes you think about those who lose their spouse and how they grieve and it was beautiful how Rudy went thru the journey and came out on the other side and in love. I found the co-worker/murder suspect a little ill-fitted for the story and couldn't really figure out why it was even necessary, but it did not make the book less enjoyable, it is just something I looked back on and wondered why it was even necessary. The characters in this book seemed like they were your next-door neighbors or your department store watch clerk and pianist! I enjoyed this book.

While I enjoyed this title, I felt it was missing a connection. The storyline was a good one and the characters were well developed but I didn't feel a strong connection to the story because I didn't feel like I knew the intricacies of their lives and they were hiding secrets.

Another wonderful story by Lolly Winston. While this wasn't exactly what I was expecting, I thought it was a wonderful story of loss and new love. I cheered so hard for Rudy to pull out of his depression. I really enjoyed the characters and thought it was a beautiful story overall .

Darnit. I accidentally requested this on NetGalley and tried to delete it but apparently that's not an option. And of course I won the ARC... After reading some Goodreads reviews and trying, I put this down for good.

Thank you to Netgalley and Gallery Books for the ARC. I'm sorry I couldn't do it justice.

A simple book about dealing with grief and how it catches you unaware of the debilitating effect it can have. I loved the honest and straightforward narrative sans any drama. A pleasure to read. Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC.

Me for You was the first book I have read by author, Lolly Winston. It deals with a common but seldom discussed topic - depression and it's consequences. I liked the main character, Mr. Knowles and cheered for the story to go in a different direction. However, much like life, depression came in. Thankfully, proper treatment and support from family and friends bring about a happy ending. I would like to read more books by Lolly Winston - I like her style.

Me For You was a a trip through many emotions. I could feel Rudy’s grief throughout the book, along with his hope for the future that he seemed a little reluctant for. I could almost even picture him at the piano at work!

Parts of the book seemed to be a little slow moving for me, but I tend to feel that way when reading about another’s grief.

Overall I really liked this book!

Me For You wasn't what I hoped it would be. It's really sad and depressing, and I just can't read sad stuff anymore. I recommend if you're okay with bleak. Unfortunately, this story was not for me. Thanks to NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

The first third of the book I really enjoyed. The death of Rudy’s wife dying so young and his reaction to it was very motivating and of course a shock. At the same he has been downsized from his regular job but plays the piano. Thus he plays the piano at Nordstrom where he meets Sasha, a women that works there and also comes with her own set of problems. As their relationship picks up, Rudy is visited by a detective who feels his wife was murdered by a pharmacist tech where his wife worked as a pharmacist. Then, for me the book begins to drag with all the crazy things that go on and I found it tedious reading the book which I did finish. The positive side of the book for me is when someone loses someone they love at a young age and so unprepared for this, it is nice to see that one can eventually move on. But till we get to that point it is at the end of the book. I want to thank net galley for an ARC of this book which I received for an honest review

I was looking forward to reading this from the description however I was really disappointed. The story went no where, it was dreary, drab and uninteresting. Nothing excited happens throughout the entire story.
