This book was written by die husband and wife duo, Alexandra and Alexander Ahndoril, and once again they knocked the gore genre on the head. The book is set in Sweden, and has some of a gorish, voyeuristic feel to it. Book was well written, and entertaining throughout. Recommended if you love the genre.

Lars Kepler understood the assignment!

I love this book series so damn much! This is Book #5 in the Joona Lina series, and I 100% recommend starting from Book #1, otherwise, you will miss key story points.
As per usual, I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn’t stop reading! Even though the book has an overwhelming number of pages, the short chapters make this book a breeze to read!

I really love the main characters of this series, especially Joona and Saga! I hope we see more of Saga in the next one! However, in this one we saw a familiar face as Erik Maria Bark is back! We got introduced to Erik during Book #1, The Hypnotist. I really loved that he was back in the story! I’m invested in these characters and will keep reading this series.

The story was a wild ride and the writing excellent! If you want a book that’s unpredictable, atmospheric, dark, compelling and twisted, this one is for you!! Highly recommend!

This was an excellent addition to the Swedish Joona Linna thriller series. Part police procedural, part psychological thriller, this book had it all and then some. I wish that it had been a little shorter because some parts dragged but it was otherwise excellent.

Just a good advice before you start to read this book. You will not sleep! Either the book will scare you into a sleepless night, or jou just can't stop reading.
This is the 5th book in the Joona Linna series. If you did not read the earlier books, you can pick up the story but it is more enjoyable when you know the background.

*Many thanks to Lars Kepler, Knopf Doubleday Publishing Group and NetGalley for arc in exchange for my honest review.*
I hardly ever refuse to discover new authors from the so-called Scandinavian Noir. This was my first book by Mr Kepler and I think he suits well this sub-genre. The characters and the writing tick all the boxes, and Stalker turned out to be full of twists and turns, if a little too graphic to my liking, however I accept that in the frame of this particular noir books.

I loved this book! The pace of the mystery, the description of the characters and setting, and the eeriness I felt throughout the novel made me read this non stop!

I previously read Sandman and was instantly pulled in. I like how the chapters are short and paced quickly. The writing in Stalker is dark and thrilling. I look forward to the writing duo of Lars Kepler one again. We purchased for our library.

I didn't realise this was part of a series but it worked well as a stand alone, a really gripping story that will keep you hooked, it's a long read but worth every minute!

Another amazing addition to the Joona Linna series! I read this in less than two days because it was so fast-paced. The police receive a video of a woman standing in a window, but the video makes it clear that someone else is recording her and she does not know it. Then she ends up dead. Hypnotist Erik Maria Bark is called in to help, but the only way the case will be solved before more women turn up dead is if Joona Linna turns up. But it is presumed that he is dead. But is he? And can he solve the case? I love this series!

would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this very long book

a stalker, to be stalked...this is a gruesome story of what happens when you are being stalked and not even realising it....

a video is uploaded of a woman who doesnt know she is being watched...the only the police can do is wait until someone finds the body...

over time there have been several videos uploaded and the victims found with horrendous disfiguring marks to their faces and torso...with no rhyme or reason....

i just found this book though very detailed and well written, there were parts that i was actually hooked and couldnt put the book down but there was also times where i felt it could have been made shorter, on the whole though that ending was worth it weight in gold...

E-book/Thriller: This is book five in the Joona Linna series; there are seven published and I have only read book two before this. I want to thank NetGalley for their patience because it is a long book to read and enjoyable. Going in, Joona (Joana as I found from the audiobook I listened to) is believed to be dead and I was thinking, what am I doing reading this if Super-Cop Joona is dead. Since there are two books after this, you find out that he was faking his death to hid from something that happened in the previous book. He is no longer a police officer and is consulting on this serial killer case.

Reasons why I liked this book? It is very much like the Nightmare (#2) where the scene switches to-and-fro between main characters of the plot. You meet at least three characters in depth in third person, so you never understand Joona's mind. I like that Joona is the Pendergast of Sweden. He is super smart and can fearlessly get out of most predicaments, except at the end. It's not life or death, but it is a cliffhanger.

What I didn't like: Nobody, as per the epilogue, is punished for Nestor's shooting? He is not mentioned in the epilogue at all? In a lot of ways, it made me mad.

It is definitely a good read and I did not guess the murderer.

There's something about Scandinavian mysteries that always draws me in. The writing in this book is good and the plot intriguing. Lots of twists and turns before the somewhat predictable conclusion.

I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review.

Stalker by Lars Kepler is the 5th novel in the Swedish police series involving the main character, Joona Linna. Linna is a detective who is on the hunt of an obsessive, stalking serial killer who secretly video records his victims before brutally murdering them. He taunts police by sending them videos showing the victim alive and clearly unaware they are being recorded.

This novel can stand-alone but, according to reviews on Goodreads, the earlier novels provide information and background stories on characters in the series. I have never read the previous books but have had several of them on my "want to read" list since the 4th book, Sandman, could be found all over social media last year.

I was hesitant to start the series because, I have found when a book has that much hype surrounding it, it feels like a disappointment when reading. I did not feel that when reading Stalker. The novel started off slowly. This may be because I was not familiar with the characters. Familiar or not, after the slow start, I was sucked into the story and will be moving the rest of the series to the top of my "want to read" list.

Review published on Philomathinphila.com, Smashbomb, Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble on 3/21/19.

Stalker is a psychological thriller that I enjoyed. What I did like were all the twists and turns. What I didn't like was that the end was quite predictable. Still, a good , page turning read that I enjoyed.

I am reviewing the English version of this novel which was just released. The Stalker is the newest novel in the Joona Lima series. This novel finds Joona in a much different position. After faking his suicide, Joona retires to a remote area with his daughter. He lost his wife to cancer after a 6 month battle and he is getting ready to send his daughter to Paris for college. After learning that that his worst enemy is dead, Joona returns to the city and starts unofficially consulting for the woman who has taken over his job at National Crime, Margot Silverman. Margot is a fiesty, determined cop who won’t let the fact that she is heavily pregnant slow her down at all.

The National Crime is handed a new series of bizarre murders in which a serial murderer targets women and kills them in a most brutal fashion by using a knife to viciously stab their faces until they are unrecognizable. The bodies are then posed. The killer always posts a short video of the woman being watched to the internet. The videos are an intimate look into the life and routines of someone who has no idea they are being watched. The video is a precursor to the vicious attack, which so far the police have no leads. As the body count continues to rise, Joona looks to use his exceptional crime solving skills to help the police bring this latest voyeur killer to justice.

Psychiatrist Erik Maria Bark is brought in to consult on the case, and almost immediately he notices the crimes match the MO of a murder that was commited by a man Erik helped put in a psychiatric prison 9 years prior. The crimes are so eerily similar that it starts to raise questions about a potential accomplice or, worst case scenario that the wrong man is serving time for the murder. As the investigation widens, evidence starts to mount that Erik the psychiatrist may be the killer the police have been hunting. Joona knows Erik well, and knows that he must uncover the truth to save his friend and set justice on the right path.

This is a fast paced story, with twists and turns. I was engaged the whole novel, and didn’t see the identity of the killer coming. A must read for fans of psychological thrillers.

I am new to Lars Kepler but I can tell you this won't be my last read by this author!! Very well written and keeps your attention all the way through. You don't even realize that this book is over 500 pages when you are reading it, that is how good it is. Even thought this book is the fifth in the series, you don't have to have read the previous ones in order to read this one. It can be read as a stand alone.

The Swedish National Crime Unit is investigating a series of crimes that are unthinkable. The bad part is that the killer sends horrible videos of the females victims before they are killed. Why would the killer send these videos? Margo Silverman is trying to solve these murders being on the crime unit, but she also has some personal issues going on that is keeping her from giving her all to the cases. Will Margo be able to deal with both the investigations and her personal life at the same time?

When Margo find out that former Detective Joona Linna has been in hiding, she finds him and recruits him to help on this case. With his expertise in these types of cases, Margo hopes that he will be able to spread some light on these murders. Erik Maria Bark, a hypnotist and psychologist, has been asked by the Swedish National Crime Unit to help with this investigation as well. When Erik recognizes some of the same things in these murders that happened in murders from previous years, he wonders if this is a copy cat killer or what is really going on. Erik knows that the other killer has been in a mental institute for years so there is no way it could be him. Lars Kepler grabs you from the very beginning of this book and keeps your attention to the very end. There were really no slow points for me in this read. I just kept wanting to know what was going to happen and if they were going to catch the killer.

This is such a great read that will keep you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. Lars Kepler has perfected the suspense part of story telling for sure! I can't wait to go back and read more from Lars Kepler and to see what is in store for her readers in the future.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for a copy of this book!

was a gripping thriller that took you to every aspect of trying to figure out what was really going on and what was going to happen next! This was such an amazing book and I can’t wait to see what else is released from this author!

This was definitely a twisted, chilling, disturbing read, but I think part of me didn’t love it enough to do more than a 3-5 rating, because I didn’t know it was a series. I wish I had known prior, because I would’ve held off, but it still kept me reading and enjoying,
I will be recommending to the members of Chapter Chatter Pub!

I absolutely love this series, for some reason it is hard to find on my Kindle. It translates great and the characters are vivid.
