Otherwise Engaged was a light, bubbly and relatable chick lit novel. Gabe is an author who writes a "fictitious" book about his relationship with his ex He even calls the main character's love interest a name that rhymes with his ex's name. Molly is a recruiter. Molly begins to become jealous once she realizes the book may not contain that much fiction. Molly and Gabe are newly engaged.... does their relationship have what it takes to survive the success of Gabe's book? What about when the press want Gabe and his ex to reunite?

This is a romance and a good break for a reader interested in a bit of chick-lit. Molly and Gabe are the couple that do become engaged, but despite their lives together, the future is disrupted when Gabe becomes the successful author of a book based on his last great love, Talia (in the new book, named Dahlia).

The 2 eventually split due to the tensions that this causes. The author surrounds Molly with many other problems and some subplots, but the book is a quick and fun read, rather predictable and trite.

This was a fun read! Women’s fiction can sometimes be unrelatable! Not this one! I found all the characters, especially the main, to be super relatable people I may actually befriend in real life! I was drawn into the book with the development of relationships that felt very possible and similar to real life experiences!
Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a vacation book as well!

This is a good read about three women who despite being strong in certain realms of their lives truly lose their way and try to reclaim what made them happy. It is their history of friendship that leads them back to themselves but in the interim, multiple relationships truly test their faith. I felt bad for the breakdown in the relationship between Lindsay and Gabe and hope a sequel is possible.

This book was an excellent read. The characterisation was very well done and the juxtaposition of the book that was the subject of the plot and the actual book was superb. Although, neither the characters or stories stayed with me afterwards, it was refreshing to read characters having complex emotions and making choices even when they were unsure if it was right or wrong. I loved reading relationships and friendships as complicated and needing a little effort and people being nice in some parts of their lives and arseholes in others. Basically, we're not perfect and hardly anyone knows what the hell they are doing! Highly recommend!
