This is the first book I've read by this author but it certainly won't be the last.

One note of caution. This is the second book in a series, and if you plan to read Hush Hush, the first one, I'd read it before this as this gives away the plot line.

I loved the characters, the pace, the story line. I was hooked from the start and didn't want to put it down. It has some good twists and I did not guess who was responsible.

All in all a highly enjoyable read that I would recommend to others.

DS Grace Allendale is on the case when a young girl is murdered during the daylight. Then a short time later a young mother is murdered returning home from work. No one knows the reason for the murders. When Grace finds a third victim alive she races to find those responsible.
This is my first read by this author. I enjoyed my time with DS Grace Allendale. I found her a tough but likeable character. I have been to Stoke on Trent once and enjoyed reading a book set in the area. I believe this is book 2 in the series but I did not feel this took from my enjoyment. I will now get book 1.
The book started slowly but picked up pace with many twists and turns I was fully with the story throughout
I would recommend this one.

I first came across Mel Sherrat by accident a few years ago. I had tried ebooks on my iPad and just couldn’t get on with it. A few months later due to circumstances beyond my control I started to struggle with hard back book. I decided I would invest in a kindle. Now looking through so many different books, is when I cam across a book by Mel Sherrat. I read the synopsis and I just thought I would give it a go. Oh boy oh boy, am I glad I did. Her work was pure genius, so much so I looked for any other books she had written, I found a few and I was so totally impressed, also hooked on her books, I genuinely do not know she just becomes better and better with every single book she writes, Tick Tock is a masterpiece of writing I love the Characters Grace and definitely didn’t see the ending coming, not the culprit far from it. I was swinging between 2 suspects only to find out it wasn’t either of them, a real exiting read, from Mel. I don’t know if it’s because I am tired and just totally refused to go to sleep. Not that I would havd been able too, I genuinely couldn’t put the book down. After reading Mels notes at the end of the book, I just had the impression that this was the last book involving Grace and her Team, I really hope I am wrong. Although if it is I am 100% sure whatever the Subject of her next book will definitely not disappoint me. As one of her greatest fans brilliant awesome must must read

Tick Tock is the second book in the DS Grace Allendale series and it doesn’t disappoint.

Grace and her team are called in to investigate the circumstances of a teenage girl murdered while on a cross country run with her school. With no clues as to what has happened, they need to find out if it was a random attack or if was she specifically targeted. When a young mother is abducted and killed in the same way, it appears they might have been killed by the same person. When another teenager is attacked and left for dead, the team are in a race against time to find the person responsible.

A good thriller with plenty of twists and turns. I would recommend that you read Hush Hush first as it deals with Grace’s back story. I am looking forward to the next book from this author.

May I first applaud Mel Sherratt on the eye-catching sinister title – ‘Tick Tock.’ Genius. It’s a spell-binding, unsettling novel that grips you immediately. I love the fluid style of Mel Sherratt as ever, and she never disappoints. It’s a perfectly well-crafted plot with real people. DS Grace Allendale, DI Nick Carter and the team have to resolve the mindless strangling of young women in Stoke. No clues. No motives. No witnesses. What haunted me throughout was trying to figure out the motive for these heinous killings. As the people of interest line up and act so defensively, I cautiously eliminated some of them but revisited them a few times as red herrings made me reconsider. What the novel brought out so well was the onerous job the police have letting the families know that their loved one is dead, that all hope is gone. Shudder. Instantly, you get the mental image of Munch’s painting 'The Scream' as you read. The focus on prison visitors was intriguing and references to celebrities and TV programmes. It adds a touch of reality. A blossoming but uncertain romance is brewing and there's lots of humour. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the privilege of reading this enjoyable novel.

DS Grace Allendale and her team are bought into to investigate when a young girl is murdered whilst on a cross country run at school.

There follows another murder of a woman on her way home from work who is grabbed from behind, bundled into the back of her car and murdered.
When a few days later another murder of a woman emerges the team are seeing a pattern emerging but with no DNA left on the bodies or clues as to who is committing these crimes they must work fast to find out who it is before there are any more.
The only coincidence they have is that the victims all have long blonde hair.
I can't say much more without giving away the story, but all I can say is that this book was so exciting and thrilling that I kept wanting to read it to see what happens next.
I have read all of Mel's books and she has never let me down.
Thank you, NetGalley for allowing me to review this book. x

This is book 2 of the DS Grace Allendale. I didn't read the first one, and still enjoyed this one very much. This book centers around the murder of a young woman who was strangled during a cross country run at school in broad daylight. DS Grace and her team work hard in order to prevent more murders from happening. It's a quick read that had me anxious to figure out how it would end. I am definitely looking forward to reading more Mel Sherratt.

Very solid thriller/mystery. Tick tock starts with the murder of a teenage girl. The police have no leads when a young mother is murdered in a similar fashion. This forces the police to find any connections between these murders before anyone else is killed.

The twisty plot of Tick Tock kept me engaged as a reader from beginning to end. While it did start a bit slow, it was never boring or dragging. Once I was fully invested, I was trying to figure out who was behind the murders. I recommend Tick Tock to mystery fans. I will be looking for more Mel Sherratt books soon. I am so glad I have found another great mystery author.

If you love any of the Mel Sherratt books, then you have to read Tick Tock, the first in a series.

The story is about a murdered teenage girl found in the middle of the day in the field behin her school. But, it does not end there as the next day a youg mother is abducted and found dead in a local park. When a third body is found DS Allendale realizes there is a pattern here and time is running out.

It will have you on the edge of your seat leaving you wanting more. This author writes with passion and brings you into the story as if you are actually there.

I loved it and can’t wait for the next book.

This is the first book I have read by Mel Sherratt and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Easy reading, an exciting page turner and it kept me in suspense throughout.

I liked the style of her writing and I will probably read more from this author.

Thank you to Netgalley and Avon Books for giving me the opportunity to read this book which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I really enjoyed 'Hush Hush', the first book in this series so I was eager to see how this book would hold up and I think it's even better!

You are instantly gripped by a couple of murders in the first chapters then it's full of twists and turns. It was great to see more of DS Grace Allendale and her now fully fledged relationship with Simon.

I read 'Hush Hush' quite a while ago so I liked that there were little reminders of what happened in that book in 'Tick Tock' so it's probably okay to read this as a standalone if you haven't read the first book. I'd recommend reading both though!

I was a Mel Sherratt fan going into this book.
I loved the idea of this story but I found it to be a bit slow. I had trouble keeping focus.
Good book but not my favourite of her work.

This is the second book in the DS Grace Allendale series and what a follow up to the first. We are back in Stoke on Trent and Grace is called in when a young girl is found strangled during a cross country with her school, she was lagging behind but not much time had elapsed for someone to kill her? There are no leads, no evidence, where do they even begin to start?

Its hard to say too much without giving the plot lines away but this case is cutting to the bone for Grace, her boyfriend has a daughter the same age and she hung around with the deceased, how can she protect them all, she is also feeling for her half niece Megan Steele, like she has let her down somehow but its hard for Grace to allow the Steele's (her half siblings) into her life, they crooked, she's a detective, how would it work!!!!

Another great crime thriller from Mel Sherratt, it grips you from the first page and doesn't let you go until the final page, I loved that it built up her personality from the first book and I felt you got to know her a bit better, an absolute belter of a follow up to a series, I can't wait for #3!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Avon Books UK for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

A gripping and intense read. I was very excited to start this one since the blurb had fascinated me.

It was an easy book to read, the characters were interesting and I wanted to know more about them, the more the story went on.
I would recommend this book to my friends!

This the first time I have read a Mel Sherratt book and found it extremely well written. A truly believable plot line. With the majority of the action initially involving school staff and pupils there are a lot of names to cope with; I experienced som difficulty keeping them in my head. And also there's members of the police force and the various members of Grace's dysfunctional "family". Note: It's probably a good idea to read the first book in this series because there's a lot of references to it here. I haven't but wish I had. The murders are solved not by inspired guesswork but by honest to goodness hard slog police work. The pace picks up appreciably in the last 20% of the book and it becomes very difficult to put down.

This is very well-written mystery with tasty twists, interesting characters (who are well crafted), and good pacing. I enjoyed the ending as well. This is my first Sherratt novel, and I look forward to circling back and reading more. Recommended.

I really appreciate the advanced copy for review!
