This felt like a game of pass the parcel, except you're playing alone and there's no music to be stopped. Each page or chapter was a revelation or new mystery which really kept me on my toes. I can tell Olivia will be a new edition to the great thrillers out there with this really disturbing and sad book. You follow one twin (Tess) who has trouble living her childhood without the other twin (Edie) by her side. But how does she go on when Edie disappears at 14 and she's forced to live the rest of her life without her?

Someone You Know is full of jealousy, coming of age, family drama and mystery.

I really enjoyed Someone You Know. It’s the right mix of a thriller with a couple of twists and turns thrown in.

Tess Piper was fourteen when her twin sister Edie disappeared. She’s always believed she was still alive and now twenty years later, there’s an update. It’s a great story with plenty of secrets and lies and it keeps you hooked to the end.

Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books IK and the author for the chance to review.

Tess's twin sister Edie disappeared 20 years ago, and now her body has been found. Tess always expected her to be found alive and is devastated by the news, trying to find answers in their past. This was pretty good. I was actually surprised by who killed Edie, which is rare in these kinds of books. I suspected just about every character in the book except the one who actually did it. There weren't a lot of likeable characters in this, though, which I guess makes it easier to suspect them all. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Tess Piper was fourteen when her adored twin sister disappeared. She has spent the last twenty years building a life away from her fractured family. Edie had wanted her independence away from Tess and she had got herself a new set of friends. Tired of Tess following her around, Tess was excluded from the rest of the group. Then one day Edie does not come home. Tess has seen her leave school through a hole in the hedge, nut that's where the trail runs cold. Twenty years later, Tess gets a call from her father telling her that the police have found a body and it has been confirmed that it's Edie's.

The story alternates between Tess in the present and Edie in the past. The pace is slow set but it gradually picks up. Tess always believed she would know if her twin sister was dead. She begins a quest to discover the truth. Many secrets unfold and it seems there are a few family members who might have had a personal motive behind Edie's death. The chapters are short, I do like a book with short chapters. There are plenty of twists and if your like me, you will think everyone of the characters in this book was the murderer at least once.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Avon Books UK and the author Olivia Isaac-Henry for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Someone You Know is a psychological thriller with twists and turns aplenty.
Tess and Edie are twins, Tess is quiet, observant and not as bright as her twin, Edie is outgoing, ahead of her age on every front and will do anything to fit in. One day Edie doesn’t return from school and can’t be found. Tess has always believed she is alive but a phone call twenty years later changes everything.
The book is split up into alternate chapters, Edie, years ago leading up to her disappearance and Tess in the current time trying to put pieces together. The alternating chapters worked really well and thought they bounced from one to the other seamlessly never leaving me confused over timelines as some often do.
I have to admit I read a lot of thrillers and by halfway through I was merely stabbing in the dark over who dunnit and was quite cross with myself for having missed something or going with the red herrings but I didn’t actually know until it was spelt out for me so, so close to the end! This earnt it’s 5 stars from me as there are hardly any thrillers I read that are hard to work out the culprit but this did it and it all made sense and tied everything together nicely.

Edie Piper went missing over 20 years ago and her father and twin sister have been looking for her ever since. The book is set over 2 timelines the current told by Tess; Edie's twin sister; and the past told by Edie herself. Tess has always believed that her sister was alive so when a body was discovered and the police told Tess it was Edie she was devastated. As the book unfolds it clear that the family knows more than they have let on and secrets and lies come to the surface.

This book was very easy to read and I have quickly hooked its a great thriller and it did keep me guessing right until the final reveal I can't wait to see what Olivia rights next!

Wow! This thrilling, shocking, intense novel grabbed me from the very beginning. I quickly became caught up in this intricate psychological thriller. I was constantly guessing throughout and just when I thought I had the mystery solved another twist would occur taking me in an entirely different direction. It was brilliantly written and has a well thought out plot with an ending that you won't see coming. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I highly recommend it. I received this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

I raced through this fast paced thriller which had me guessing right to the last page.

Twins Tess and Edie are fourteen and their close relationship is beginning to fall apart. Edie is the more popular twin and has a interest in parties and boys while Tess is quieter and is constantly trying to win back Edies friendship and approval.

After falling out one day after school Edie disappears and twenty years later the case is still unresolved . The past has had a huge effect on all members of the family and this is explored fantastically.

When Edies body is found , Tess’s life is thrown into turmoil and she begins a quest to uncover the truth. Many secrets emerge. The death of their mother was very difficult for both twins and the circumstances involved , slowly uncover family secrets which she was unaware of when younger. Each member of the family is put in the spotlight and each could have a personal motive in Edies death. Her last boyfriend and an infatuated admirer are also prime suspects.

This book had me believing I knew who was guilty only to find I had changed my mind another chapter in!! When I finally found out it was a complete surprise .

The chapters are short and alternate between past and present. I found the book well written and engaging, my first by this author will definitely not be my last. Overall a fantastic highly recommend read.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for my chance to read this book.

When Tess’ sister Edie disappeared 20 years ago, the case went cold. Now her body has at last been discovered and Tess travels back to her hometown to find out what really happened to her. Who can she really trust from her past?

Someone You Know was a story that certainly kept me guessing – there are a lot of suspects and some completely believable red herrings throughout. I kept flipping through potential suspects in my head, panicking when someone in the book had the same idea I’d had before the end as that meant there was no way I was right! The ending managed to surprise me twice which I enjoyed. I also liked the way that each character’s motives were fully explored and they were well-rounded in their own right. No-one felt unrealistic or purely a suspect for the sake of it which was what made it so hard to guess.

I liked the split timelines in the narrative – we get Tess’ detective work in the present and alternately her twin sisters perspective 20 years ago before she disappeared. Tess is a slightly unreliable narrator with her own memory problems of the event and Edie’s chapters only give away the bare minimum to keep the story progressing. Olivia Isaac-Henry drip feeds you information in a way to keep the pace up and this technique left you intrigued as to what would happen in each girls story without one feeling more important than the other. I would say that the plot did feel a little slow in the middle – perhaps some elements could have been cut down, but it did lead to a big pay off in the end.

Overall I enjoyed Someone You Know, it’s a twisty thriller that keeps you guessing throughout, I just found the pace dragged a little in the middle. Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for the chance to read the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Twins, Tess and Edie Piper are fourteen years old and their close childhood relationship is changing. Edie is interested in boys and parties whilst Tess looks younger than her age and is only interested in her relationship with Edie. One day when coming home from school alone, having fallen out with Tess, the unthinkable happens and Edie simply disappears. Twenty years later the case has not been resolved but new evidence emerges and the police start asking questions again. Tess has never wanted to believe the worst and is determined to discover the truth. She starts discovering facts about her close family that she wasn’t aware of when she was younger although it appears that Edie may have known.
The book switches between the past and present, slowly events unfold suspicion falling on one person after another. This had me hooked, an easy read, thouroughly engaging. I didn’t guess the outcome until the end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Avon/Harper Collins Publishers Ltd. for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ms. Isaac-Henry has created a dark, shocking and at times creepy story about a family that has many, many secrets that they have been keeping buried. Tess and her twin sister Edie were 14 when Edie disappeared. Tess never lost faith that her sister would be found alive, that she just went off somewhere. When a body is found, cracks start appearing in this family. What does their father know? Edie and their Uncle Ray were unnaturally close, was he involved in her disappearance? What about Valentina and her husband next-door? How do all the pieces then relate back to the death of Tess and Edie's mother? Some are saying it was an accident, while others are saying it was suicide. It's common knowledge among police that these types of disappearances are linked back to a family member.

Ms. Isaac-Henry built in so many twists and turns that when the ending comes, it's shocking.

If you liked Behind Closed Doors or Gone Girl, you’ll love this book.

Tess and Edie are twins. They used to be inseparable but as they grow older, Tess is written off as weird and lives in the shadows of her enigmatic sister. Then Edie suddenly disappears, 20 years on, Tess is struggling without her sister and a break in the case finds Tess fending for herself against people she thought she could trust.

Someone took your sister, Someone You Know.

I very rarely give 5 star ratings but this book was just SO good. As a lover of psychological and crime thrillers, I usually pride myself for being quick to guess what has happened in a case. But with this story I was constantly left guessing throughout, just when I thought I had solved Edie’s disappearance, another plot twist would occur - without being too far fetched! I really loved Tess as a protagonist, she was an easy target for bullies and then found unhealthy coping mechanisms to get through her turbulent family dynamics. I rooted for her throughout and really felt for her and her poor Dad.

Olivia Isaac-Henry’s writing was easy to read and I flew through Someone You Know in just two days. I recommend this book to anyone that loves psychological thrillers and an unpredictable crime plot.

I’d like to thank NetGalley for providing me with a free eARC of this book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

I really enjoyed this one, Edie Piper disappeared on her way home from school one day, Tess her twin sister is devastated but never believes that Edie is dead.
That is until 20 years later when a body wrapped in plastic is found at the bottom of the local canal. Dna proves it is indeed Edie Piper.
Once again the police look into the circumstances surrounding Edies disappearance, her remaining family, Tess, her father, Aunt Becca and Uncle Ray coming in for intense scrutiny.
The story is told by flipping from present day with Tess and the past with Edie.
For a debut thriller the author has certainly mastered the art of keeping the reader guessing as she weaves a plot filled with family secrets, jealousies and lies.
A host of well drawn characters, most of whom came under my suspicion at one time or another.
The ending when it came was not one I saw coming, what more could anyone want from a mystery !
A well deserved 5 * from me, Cant wait to read more from this author.
Thanks to Netgalley and Avon books for the opportunity to read this as an ARC.

Twins have a special bond, don't they? If a twin goes missing doesn't the other one know whether they're alive or dead? Tess's twin sister Edie went missing 20 years ago and until her body is found Tess is convinced that Edie is alive. So what did happen? Can she rely on her memories. The more Tess looks into the circumstances of Edie's disappearance and death, the murkier it all becomes. Her father is almost catatonic and has been for a long time. The police had tried to pin it on him at the time, were they right?

A really good debut book. Interesting people, plenty of twists and turns.
