The Wedding Favour
By: Lilly Bartlett, Michele Gorman

REVIEW ☆☆☆
I love romcoms of all varieties, but The Wedding Favour was a bit too unbelievable for the fake fiance trope. Nelly is in a bad situation. She's a social media influencer with a lot on the line with her dream wedding. The problem is that her husband to be has changed his mind, so it's time to find a replacement. It's all too easy. Here's the guy, and instalove, and it's all wonderful and happens super fast. Granted, the story is entertaining and easy to read, but I didn't love this one.

Nelly was half asleep on her Sister-In-Law’s sofa. Waiting for the ping of her phone to indicate Matt’s make-up call. It had been nearly three weeks since Matt had suggested ‘A Break’ she had only told Rowan about it, her Brother was working away and there hadn’t been any family events so she had managed to keep it a secret. Nelly hated being in limbo, they were due to get married in three months time and the Country’s biggest magazine needed to know if the wedding was on or off. Fantastic Magazine was paying for the whole thing.
I really enjoyed reading Nelly’s story, would her dream wedding go ahead or was it going to be called off. Could she really face letting everyone down. Where would she find the money to pay back the money they’d already given her?
I loved Nelly’s story, it was well written and really enjoyable.

Nice enough story to pass the time - sadly, it wasn't as captivating as I'd thought it would be. Actually felt like giving up before 10% into the book because the heroine is such a mopey mess and I was wondering if I would actually be able to read a whole book about such a character...but it smoothed out somewhat afterwards, when the hero, Rafael, is introduced. It was a good enough read from there on, though a tad over-the-top in some instances

The book was alright. It was lighthearted and fun.

I think it was too insta-lovey considering Nelly had been engaged and heartbroken the day before she met Rafael. It had barely been a couple weeks and she was already super jealous of Rafael’s closest friend which I thought was weird considering it was supposed to be a contractual marriage. I get that this is a romcom but it didn’t feel believable when she had been desperately trying to keep her ex from breaking things off.

Also, everyone accepted everything so easily without a lot of questions asked. The only two characters that were suspicious about it were the ex and the best friend Mabs. I would have thought close friends and parents would have been more hesitant and suspicious for a little while longer.

I was hoping there would be more bonding time between Nelly and Rafael. Sadly the “bickering” felt forced and unnatural and they didn’t have much chemistry. At the end of the book I didn’t think Nelly was in love with Rafael but rather infatuated.

It was a quick read perfect for a sunny afternoon.

A wonderful and warm read! The perfect book for a few hours escape from the world. The Wedding Favour is funny, sweet, romantic and is just the perfect pick me up for the current climate!

Warm, lovely romance: Nelly WILL be a bride!👰

I loved this quick, light read. Michele Gorman/Lilly Bartlett is one of my go-to authors for warm, feel-good stories and this one did not disappoint. Heroine Nelly NEEDS her wedding and when her fiance distances himself she lucks onto handsome Rafael who proves perfectly ready to step in as her new fiance. Rafael is a great character, fun, full of positivity and constantly nudging Nelly past her limits. His gorgeous friend Mabs and Nelly's persistent former fiance Matt are the flies in the ointment of the wedding but the story never gets angtsy and the ending is truly scrumptious.

With the world so dark, grim and depressing, this story was the perfect pick-me-up respite!

Thanks to publishers One More Chapter/Harper Collins UK and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Nelly gets left in the lurch after her fiancé Matt decides just a few months before the wedding that he doesn't want to go through with it anymore. Nelly is devestated, not only is she heart broken but the wedding was going to be documented and featured in a magazine to help Nelly get ahead in her social media influencer role. At work Jenny introduces Nelly to Rafael during after work drinks and it comes up in conversation that Rafael needs help with his visa to stay in the country he has called home for the last 10yrs. The cogs slowly turn in Nellys head that if he agrees Nelly can keep her magazine wedding feature and Rafael can get his visa if they agree to get married.
I love a bit of the ol fake dating/marriage trope so knew this book was going to be my thing. I really enjoyed the story it had me laughing at times and I genuinely got invested in the story. I just wish the story had developed more. I would have loved more insight to how Nelly and Rafael managed this charade and how they blossomed as a couple. If just fell a bit flat for me. It was definatley a quick fun read and gave me some light entertainment.

I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for asking me to read and review.
This story was a wonderful read.
It is well written with some characters that are well rounded and as a reader you feel you are right there with them and feel the emotions that they are going through. The plot draws you in, keeping you wanting more and turning those pages.
A brilliant, addictive read.

As someone who seeks out rom-com books for pure escapism, I was instantly drawn to requesting this book from NetGalley.

It was a quick and easy read, but it lacked development for me and unfortunately I can’t say it was one of my favourites.

The premise of the story is one which I like - the fake romance, as any other chick lit lovers do, but the storyline was rushed.

Nelly’s fiancé gets cold feet before their wedding day and buggers off to Spain to do some thinking. With a magazine deal hanging in the balance and fellow Instagram followers to please, Nelly decides to marry the hot Colombian guy from her work.

I felt that Nelly and Rafael’s relationship could have been developed so much more. I wanted to read about their stay at the hotel and then spending time together, not just during the organising of the wedding. It made it feel unrealistic, as well as it leaving me to question how feelings could materialise under the few interactions they had.

The book did have its moments of cuteness and swooning, but I personally needed that extra oomph! Also, I would have really liked to know the outcome of Rafael’s situation; the book leaves you frustrated, as it’s part of the main plot and you want to know how that pans out (an epilogue would have been good).

A fun, quick read, but one I’m likely to forget about.

Thank you to Netgalley and One More Chapter for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC, in exchange for an honest review.

Influencer Nelly wants a magical wedding so when groom to be Matt disappears and dumps her she takes matters into her own hands and hatches a plan with visa needing Rafael to get married and fake a past relationship together to save face and her magazine feature too.

Only she has to contend with Matt's reappearance and Mabs, Rafael's best friend causing chaos in their lives as they try to stop the wedding going ahead.

Only can this favour turn into true love?

Time will tell...

Time does tell let me tell you I fell in love with this story. My word it was a magical adventure and very humorous too as things go wrong but turn out alright you definitely need to read this one of was such a light easy read with wonderful characters!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to review this book for them!

Well wasn’t that nice?! Nelly and Matt are two months away from their wedding day, when Matt gets cold feet. They had a magazine deal and Nelly is trying to become an ‘influencer’ so it was the perfect opportunity for her business. Nelly can’t afford to pay the deposits back to the magazine, then she meets Rafael. Rafael works for the same company and has been in the UK for nearly 10 years but his visa is running out, if only he could find a British woman to marry...
This was romantic and sweet and a breeze to read. The only problem is, I now wish I could upgrade my husband to a sexy Columbian! 😉

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC of this adorable book. All opinions are my own.

Nelly is about to live the dream. Not only is she getting married but has landed herself a magazine series to cover the lead up to the wedding and the wedding itself. Perfect for her hopes of leaving her insurance job behind and becoming a full time influencer. Sound wonderful right? Just one thing, with three months to go to the big day her fiancee decides he needs to think and wants a break to see whether this is truly what he wants.

With her love life falling apart as well as her future job goals, no to mention the money she has paid in deposits from the magazine. Nelly wonders how she is going to navigate through the future. An after work drink leads her to meet Rafael who works for the same company as her. Although he is face's returning to his niave Columbia as his visa is due to expire. Nelly suddenly has a thought to help them both out. They should get married, Rafael will get his visa and Nelly won't have to repay the magazine plus can fake a new relationship to win more followers.

Sounds simple? The course of true love never did run smooth, even when it is just an arrangement.

The wedding favour was a fast and easy read. I liked the idea even if it was predictable. If you wanna take a break from hard books then you should read this one. This was my reason too. And I don't regret it.

The main character, Nelly, represents all the girls who are influencers on Instagram and this makes her so annoying! All she wants to do is to take photos and makes some money from them. I never wanted so bad to scream at a character!

All in all it was a good book. Thank you NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for an honest review.

The Wedding Favour by Lilly Bartlett; Michele Gorman

Nelly’s in a Jam! Social media star Nelly is set to have the wedding of the year having won her dream wedding by doing a massive bridal magazine feature but her fiancé and co star Matt has done a runner to Spain & ditches her. In steps replacement groom Raphael the exact opposite tall dark and sexy! Well the fun good and bad begins.

Loved this book so like life- nothing is ever what it’s seems. Laughs , cringing, hysterics , drama it is all there . Very well done. Great read kept you guessing right to the end .

This was a cute, quick romance, perfect for lifting your spirits without demanding much investment into the story.

The fake dating/fake marriage plot is one that I love reading, and this did a decent job of making it fun. I just wish it had been a little longer. We didn't get as much time spent between Rafael and Nelly as I would've liked. It would have been nice to really see them bond more prior to the actual wedding day.

I guess it just felt a little rushed overall, and seemed to tie up a little too quickly at the end. Give me an epilogue!! I need to see the aftermath please!!

A fun read but ultimately not all that memorable.

Massive thank you to Nergalley and the publisher for the free review copy!

This was a quick and easy rom-com, but it wasn't one of my faves.

I love a good fake romance trope, but this one just seemed a bit too rushed. I would have liked to see more development in Nelly and Rafael's relationship, because I did think it was cute, but it was unconfirmed until the very end of the book.

Overall, this was a cute story that definitely had it moments, but I think it just needed more character development and maybe a few more chapters or an epilogue to really give us more of Nelly and Rafael together.

If you are after a quick, easy read, I would recommend you check this out, but personally it wasn't one I would rave about.

Huge thanks to One More Chapter and NetGalley for the review copy in exchange for an honest review.

I liked it! It was a little cliche but it was cute. I really enjoyed the en corporation of Colin isn culture. This book read just like a romcom. I think it was great that the author embraced that, and did what she wanted, and didn’t make it feel forced super realistic. This reminded me of the proposal, my favorite romcom ever with Ryan Reynolds and Sandra bullock. Overall cute, but cheesy read!

I love Lilly Bartlett’s books and this one didn’t disappoint.

Nelly is a social media influencer and has been given an advance payment for her forthcoming nuptials to be featured in a magazine. She’s spent all the money and the wedding is very close, when she gets a phone call from her fiancée to say that he needs a break to think things through.

There’s no time for thinking about it, and Nelly is panicking that the wedding still needs to go ahead – she can’t afford to pay all that money back! Then she meets Rafael, a Colombian who has been working in the UK for some years but now needs to renew his visa or be deported.

Nelly needs a husband, Rafael needs a wife, and the wedding is paid for. What could possibly go wrong?!

I had difficulty putting this down and loved every minute of it. A humour romcom that I would highly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins One More Chapter for an advance reader copy in return for an honest review.

This was a sweet, fluffy romance. Somewhat predictable in some places but it’s an easy quick read which will definitely pick your spirits.
