A very good read. I like the authors and would recommend that you read this and previous books.
This is a book about obsession and deceit and will get your heart pumping. Couldn’t put down and can’t wait for the next book.

Let me fall into the small category that stands to the side that declares this book as ‘meh’. I know how much a lot of people loved this story, and it was a good one in terms of twists and unreliable characters, but there was just something about it that held me at the three star mark and no further.


Having read the author duo’s previous work, THE WIFE BETWEEN US, and rated it with a whopping four stars at that, AN ANONYMOUS GIRL just fell short. While I loved the dual narrative, especially considering one of them was a possibly sociopathic psychiatrist, I couldn’t buy some of the things that happened. I’m not going to reveal anything, I still believe you should go into this read completely blind as so many people have already said, but I will say that some of the explanations and even twists didn’t give me satisfaction one hundred per cent. I can’t go into detail because that would mean giving spoilers, so if you’ve read this book and want to discuss, shoot me a message and I’d love to talk. Otherwise I’ll just say that the the common ground where all these unreliable and perhaps even unlikable characters came together being a study on morality, was much more interesting than all the twists that were thrown at us at the end. I couldn’t help but think that the psychological battle between the two women who narrated the story was stronger than any mystery contained in the book. And speaking of that, because of both women’s strength in manipulation, the ending made even less sense for me, and perhaps made me even a bit angry at such an easy out.

I recommend this still to those who love psychological thrillers. For all the things I felt it lacked for me personally, I can’t deny that it was an easy, gripping read. But like I said, go into it blind and see how you feel about it.

Yet another grippingly intense, addictive read from these 2 very talented authors. The two povs written from each character are both incredibly powerful and captivating to read. Add some emotionally driven characters and a plot that made my heart pound the whole way through, this one is definitely a must read.
Can't wait for the next book very soon.

An Anonymous Girl is penned in two points of view, that of Lydia, a psychologist and her patient, Jessica, and it is easy to differentiate one author from another. After participating in a study, Jessica finds the questions becoming more and more invasive.

However, almost nothing about this story or its characters is believable or makes much sense, from Jessica's naiveté to Lydia's sociopathic tendencies to the awful and life-changing bit of personal history they share. Leave that aside, though, and you can still have a bit of fun watching their game of cat and mouse play out.

Excellent writing by two authors who clearly know how to write a psychological thriller that is sure to keep readers addicted right to the final pages.

It was an interesting concept to use psychological studies which made it impossible to know who to trust. I did not find the story predictable at all which was a nice change after reading so many thrillers I tend to work out the ending beforehand - I didn't here!

There are some questions within the book which I found thought-provoking and had me considering what my answer would have been. I loved it!

I liked this one but I didn’t LOVE it.

The plot followed Jessica who was a makeup artist who gets involved in a psychological study and finds she can’t quite get out of it. I liked the psychology elements in terms of her questioning her own morality in all of her decisions throughout the book. I also enjoy psychological thrillers which involve relationships, which I feel like was the major plot here. The relationships between Jessica and the psychologist, the psychologist and her husband and Jessica and her husband.

However, overall this one didn’t quite work for me. A lot of the book just felt slow and laggy (and I quite enjoy slow-burn books) but this just felt like nothing that happened for a good chunk of the book actually furthered the story in any way. The ending was ok, but the twists in here were all very predictable for me.

I haven’t read these authors’ other book but I will be picking it up as I’ve heard that it is better and I will be reading more from them in the future as I did still enjoy the writing style and story.

I liked the overall plot of An Anonymous Girl, but not the writing style. It was enough to make me give up more than half way through which is disappointing as the plot had such potential.

I had high hopes for this. I loved The Wife Between Us and I expected something as clever as that book. I confess I was a bit disappointed. It did hold my attention but I think I was waiting for the same flash of brilliance as their previous book. I found the characters flat and annoying and I wasn’t unhappy to get to the end. I will read more by these authors but that’s not influenced by this book.

It’s very different to anything else I have read before which isn’t a bad thing. There were plenty of twists and turns along the way which I enjoyed - a thoroughly enjoyable read

I struggled to get into An anonymous girl and felt very disappointed. Reading the blurb I was so excited to read it but I was bored, couldn’t finish it and gave up on it.

This is a difficult book to review.
On one hand, I couldn't put it down but then there were huge chunks that were really annoying and I struggled not to skim through.

Jessica is a make-up artist living in New York. Through choice, she doesn't have many close friends, but she's happy living on her own with the dog that she rescued and hooking up with men every now and again. She struggles with money though and signs up for a psychological study which is being conducted by Dr. Shields. Jessica assumes that this will be easy money - answer a few questions and that'll be that.

But before long the questions that she is answering become more invasive and Jess is told to be in certain places, wearing certain clothes and to speak to certain people.
Jess begins to feel paranoid and as though Dr Shields is watching her every move. Jess starts to wish that she hadn't been quite so honest in her answers and before long she is wondering who can be trusted.

Through reading this, one begins to see just how easy it can be for someone else to subtly collect some very sensitive information without you realising it.

I don't think I actually warmed to anyone in this book - but I don't think that was a negative and certainly didn't stop me from wanting to finish the book.

Hadn't read any books by these authors before this one so didn't know what to expect. Can happily say it was a good read and had lots of twists to keep me guessing until the end - would recommend!

Oh what a tangled web we weave...how moral can we really say we are, truthfully? What can tempt us, destroy us and lure us into a web of deception. The spider in this case is Dr. Shields, the insect she traps a broke young make-up artist, Jessica.

This was quite a sinister psychological thriller, with a satisfying ending and decent twist are the end.

An enjoyable holiday read.

This was a great read and very gripping. However this has been sadly let down by the poor editing. There were a lot of spelling mistakes which are distracting when you are so gripped by the story. That aside it is a really good read, it was an addictive read and very hard to put down.

This is a novel about a woman who ends up taking part in a psychological study that seems to be about morality but ends up being so much more than it seemed. The novel becomes something of a cat and mouse game between the characters and it was hard to predict how it might all ends! I enjoyed the authors’ previous novel The Wife Between Us so was delighted to be approved to read this one on NetGalley. I ended up downloading the audio book and am really glad I did. The audio book was really well done with a clear distinction in the voice of the two main characters. I listened to this over the course of a couple of days and while this is a book that might not stay with me, I did enjoy it.

I liked this book, I thought the story was different and put together well, the story was told from the point of view of Jessica and Dr Shields and I liked both characters.

It’s about a girl who does an online survey for £500 but finds herself giving away more than she should about herself. She then meets the Dr involved and goes on kind of assignments, can she trust the Dr?

This is a unique storyline one that I’ve not come across before and to be honest I really liked it. Totally had me gripped throughout and I am excited to read more from the author.

Think I may be in the minority with this one but I really struggled with this book. I just couldn't connect with any of the characters. Unfortunately it is only 3 stars from me. Thank you for giving me opportunity to read this book

An anonymous girl was a brilliant read, great plot with plenty of twists and turns that keeps your attention throughout the book.

I had previously enjoyed Greer Hendricks's and Sarah Pekkanen's The Wife Between Us so I expected this to be a twisty thriller and I was not wrong. In fact I preferred An Anonymous Girl as I had guessed some elements of TWBU whereas the story for AAG was not at all what I had been expecting and it shot off in a completely unexpected direction!

What started as a mystery became a thrillingly dark, psychological battle of wills that managed to be both highly original but also to speak to some timeless truths. Jessica was a fantastic character and Dr Shields...well, you'll just have to read it to find out!
