Outstanding!

This is my first book by Tracy Goodwin and I’m in such a fantastic head space right now. Started and finished in one sitting, this book has all the feels. I laughed out loud, cheered and sneered and fell in love with the characters.

What I admired most was the actual lacking of any angst. The storyline held my interest while the characters were honest and upfront with each other. I. Loved. That. The. Most. However, like every great book there must be a twist. Things needed to happen. And wow. Just wow!

Can this be a standalone? One hundred percent YES! The epilogue...Loved it and now I’m hooked.

A. Must. Read.

Big bad jock meets his match in a feisty female entrepreneur. She gives as good as she gets while still being feminine. He's every woman's fantasy but a gentleman underneath.

If you love hockey, strong characters and romance, you’ll love this book. Christian is a hockey super-star who has never given much thought to ever being in love. It’s all about his new team and the players and of course, himself. Serena is a girl whose family has never had a problem with money, in fact, they even sold the land for the hockey stadium. Christian bumps into Serena and sparks fly as the two get to know each other. This story has lots of info about hockey, their players and their relationships. Solid characters and strong language are also part of this book. A little slow-moving for me but still a good read.

Ice Hot by Tracy Goodwin will be published March 5, 2019 by Loveswept, an imprint of Random House Publishing Group. An egalley of this book was made available by the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

Loved, loved, loved this book! What a breath of fresh air for an author to really go after some real social issues that are going on with social media. I loved these two characters and their relationship. I read this book through the night and could not put it down. Sports romance or at the top of my favorites list and this one was a really great one. It hit all the marks, sexy, witty, angst, drama, smoonworthy hero...you get the idea! The fat shaming aspect and near destruction that social media play in this were really well done and handled very tastefully. Can't wait to read the next book by this author!

5 Stars to Ice Hot by Tracy Goodwin!
This is a great start to what I believe is going to be a great series. Hockey romance is my absolute favorite of the sports romance genres. To me, there is nothing sexier than a hot shot hockey player. Additionally what makes this book an even better experience for me is I have found a new author to add to my TBR. Tracy Goodwin is definitely an author whose name I have seen before. Why I haven't read one of her books before this, is a mystery to me. So I want to thank NetGalley for this recommendation. I will definitely be on the look out for the next book in the series. The author not only gave a great story with this books's protagonists, but she gave us a good amount of inside on some of the other team members. I will also mention that Ice Hot has some of the most entertaining, loyal secondary characters I've read recently.

Christian and Serena.......
Christian is the new captain for the New York Nighthawks, NFL's newest expansion team. Christian's addition to this team and his recent two-time Stanley Cup wins makes him an asset the coaches and managers hope will lead the Nighthawks to their own trophy. Christian has had a tough childhood, with no support from his only living parent, his father. Since he came from nothing, he does his best to take nothing for granted. He is gorgeous, popular with women and fans but he has a side to him which is genuine. I think you should unravel the sexy enigma that is Christian on you own. Learning where he came from and how he got to where he is now, was a part of the book that the author used to really give us insight at what makes him tick. I will tell you, Christian is not all he seems. He was a gentleman. Was he perfect? No. Did he make mistakes? Yes, one in particular that had me wanting to kick his butt. Did he redeem himself? Hmmm...you'll have to read to find out. I do promise you one of the happiest endings.

Serena is one of those heroines that I have crazy respect for from the first page. She is beautiful inside and out. But her most important attributes are her determination to be successful on her own terms. It was her determination, kindness, loyalty and take-no-nonsense attitude that made me her biggest fan. Okay, well second biggest when you consider how much Christian wanted her.

I won't go into the detail of their relationship dynamic because you will enjoy reading that on your own. I will say there are insecurities among other hurdles that Serena and Christian will have to get over before their HEA. But when they do......One of my favorite happily-ever-afters!

This is definitely a must read. If you are a hockey romance fan, you can add this series to your TBRs. You won't be disappointed. This is my honest and unbiased review. Thank you for taking the time to read it. :)

I noticed lately that I have had a lot of hockey-themed romances in my TBR pile. Which is funny because I haven’t followed hockey in years. All these hockey themed romances are telling me something. They are telling me that I need to turn on the games again.

When I read the blurb for Ice Hot, I was kind of “meh” about it. No lying. I got burned out on alpha males. I also got burned out on women who think that they can handle the alphas but end up becoming submissive.

I surprised when Christian and Serena blew those misconceptions out of the water. While the book did start off with a typical alpha male situation, it turned into anything but. Christian was still very much an alpha male on the ice. But off the ice, when he was alone with Serena, he showed a different side. A side that I wasn’t expecting to see in a book like this. I loved it!!

I thought Serena was awesome!! The whole situation with the Slurpee had me cracking up in bed. But what I liked the most about her was that she was one of the most genuinely written characters I have read to date. I read a lot, so that says something. By the end of the book, she morphed into almost hero status in my eyes.

To the young women out there who are watching this, I have a wish. That you embrace the concept that no one defines who you are but you. No man defines you. Neither does social media. Be yourself. Be fearless. Forge your own path. That’s what I am doing with this video**

The author chose to detail cyberbullying in this review. As well as slut/fat shaming. Serena was at the end of that. She had been at the end of the fat shaming her entire life. Her parents did nothing about it. In fact, her father hired the guy who humiliated her. I thought she was strong and my admiration grew as the book went on.

I was heartbroken when Serena and Christian broke up. Now, I wouldn’t normally be mentioning that but it was huge in the book. I am not going to say why they broke up but I will say that I understood why Christian did it. He wanted to protect Serena and in his mind, this was how he could do it.

The only thing that I found fault with was how the team and management handled Mighty. I know that a hockey team needs to be a cohesive unit. Which is why I didn’t understand why nothing was done about Mighty until the end of the book. He caused so much harm, it wasn’t even funny. I was very surprised that Christian held off as long as he did.

The sex scenes were as emotional and intimate as the book was. The author kept up the sexual tension throughout the book. It didn’t go away at all. Actually, it intensified the deeper Christian fell for Serena. It was amazing to read.

You will need tissues for the end of the book. Thankfully, I had a bunch next to me (I am battling a cold). I started bawling the minute Serena met up with her mother and didn’t start until the end of the book. I loved the epilogue and thought the Slurpee was great!!!

I gave Ice Hot an Adult rating. There is explicit sex. There is violence. There is language. There are triggers. They would be online bullying, face to face bullying, fat shaming, slut shaming and bigotry. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.

I would reread Ice Hot. I would also recommend this book to family and friends.

Bravo.... finally an author has the "nerve"to write a book with realistic characters.
Christian is a hot as hell hockey captain.
Serena is a real woman ... she's not an anorexic model type ( she's a size 14/16) whom he meets in a gas station convenience store .
Well you know the plot from here .
It's about time we see reality in a romance .

I appreciated the steamy romance that was all over this book. I loved Serena for being a confident badass at times. She isn't stuck thin and she has some insecurities. She didn't fit the usual romance female character mould. And I loved that
I did feel like the conflict, in the end, was a bit of a copout. I would have preferred that Chris handle the situation with Serena rather than break up with her for"her own good" it would have made the storyline more mature had they stayed together to overcome everything. Also,
Her mother doing a complete turnaround and wanting to suddenly support her daughter was hard to believe.

UGH I could not get into this book. DNF 30% through. The whining was just absolutely annoying and pulled me away from the story. I enjoyed the banter in the beginning but then the story just became too immature. The constant talk about money and how Serena was burned by a jock at the age of 16.

This is a wonderful story that has great characters and an in-depth look at society and the body shaming that occurs everywhere. A girl with a healthy weight is a great thing to behold. To have her be independent and sassy is just icing on the cake. The chemistry between the main characters is amazing.

Ice Hot is the first book in the New York Nighthawks series by Tracy Goodwin. I absolutely adored this book. It kept my interest and I loved learning more about The Nighthawk team. Christian and Serena both have issues. Christian is not looking for a relationship. Serena has some serious trust issues with men. So trusting Christian so early is an extremely hard concept for Serena and her friends to understand. I can't wait to see what the rest of this series has in store for me.

Christian is the new captain of his hockey team. Serena is just a girl who meets Christian and yes, she is smitten, but she doesn't do one night stands. She is more into relationships. She doesn't think she in the Hockey God could have anything in common.
I couldn't really get into this book and quit 1/3 into it. I usually like hockey romance books. I don't know why I couldn't get into this one since the writing was done well.

This was my first book by this author and it seemed to read fine on its own.

Christian is the new Captain for the Nighthawks. He's won two Stanley Cups, very rich and can have any woman he wants. His life seems charmed but the author did try to make this unique and surprised me with Christian's situation. Usually hockey gods are treated as such but his new teammates, one in particular, seem to be willing to knock him down at any cost to the team due to jealousy. I gotta admit, I'm used to seeing the team unity in sports books.

Serena is born from wealth but does not fit the mold. She's a beautiful girl who has battled body shaming her whole life. She's proud of who she is and will not let anyone make her feel ashamed. The book does focus a lot on her weight in the second half of the book. I'm not a big fan of body issues so I do wish there was less of it. I did like that for the most part, she wouldn't allow anyone to make her feel bad. That's not easy when others make it an issue. It's a good message to have in a book.

These two together as a couple were a good match. This book is on the shorter side so it does feel a bit rushed but I liked them. I liked that she was sassy with him and treated him like he was a normal guy. I also liked that he never commented or thought about her bigger size. All he saw was beautiful curves that made his mouth water. Overall, a good message to send out to readers.

Ice Hot is a story of a hot and talented hockey player Christian and Serena the socialite fashionista. Serena and Christian come from two different worlds, but they do not let that stop them from having some fun. When they meet its not a great first impression, but Christian gets a chance at redemption when he sees her again. When they meet in the club, Christian was just get roasted into picking up a woman when he sees Serena. She is the one he can’t stop thinking about and wonders if this is his second chance. They leave together that night and have one of the hottest nights minus the one thing we think. Their chemistry is hot and intense which will leave you squirming with anticipation. Once they start getting to know one another in a series of world wind dates, late nights, and family gatherings things start to happen for them. Something sinister is afoot and its destroying what Serena and Christian are building. Can they find a way through the hardship to keep fighting for their love?
Christian is the hot talented hockey player who is tired and wants to find the girl that makes him want more. Serena is a beautiful and curvy woman set to launch her own brand of clothes. With her parents being in the social scene it has been hard for her to find her footing in her family being that she is not the model type. What is the model type anyway? I never really cared, and Serena does not care until she starts dating on of the most sought-after hockey players. When their relationship becomes public evil is lurking in the background trying to destroy them. Christian takes matters into his own hands and makes things worse. When they go their separate ways, they must find the strength to fight for each other in this story of love. I liked both characters but sometimes they both could be self-deprecating, and I don’t like that flaw in people. It makes them seem whiney and selfish. I love the story though because it has hockey players at their finest. I love the supporting characters and hope there is more stories to come about them. Pretty please say there is more to come because when you read this one you will not be disappointed.

This story starts off with a great comedic scene where we meet Christian and Serena. Christian's just been traded and is Captain of the new New York hockey team. Serena is a sassy businesswoman who takes absolutely no nonsense from anyone. He can't take his eyes off of her and after the less than stellar meeting where he bumps into her dumping her bright blue slurpee down the front of her nice white tank top... not so impressive. Story flies off to a great start where Christian is determined to get Serena to go out with him. They meet again in a sports bar where he hits of her, at the behest of his teammates who dare him, Serena can't understand why this handsome hockey player would be interested in the girl with the curves. While Christian has his hands full getting his pre-season players to play nice, he's also trying to woo ( yes I said that word) Serena. The guy did a hard press for this girl. The downside to the book was the story lags seriously in the middle and I had to push myself to keep reading it. Recycling the same storyline over and over. There's a little action here and there, low angst but it's a hike to the end. I did like the characters. As much as I loved Serena's sass, I didn't love the constant comments about her size. Christian I just flat out liked him. There were times when he seemed a little slow out of the gate, but there's a sense that he's a really good guy that was covered up by the story. Secondary characters were ok for the most part, except for the story's bad guy who was just a jackhat. I wanted more hockey in the story, more background to the other characters, and C's best friend as well. I realize this is book one of a series, so hoping that book two will open those areas up.
I'm going to reach and give it 3.5 I hold back from a 4 due to the major lag in the storyline. This really could be a 5 star book.

Christian is the leader of the new hockey team the Nighthawks. Serena is the daughter of one of the owners. A chance encounter at a gas station and a spilled blue raspberry Slurpee brings them together. The first part of the book all is well, almost too well. I was ready to DNF the book at around 50%, but then the story picked up. Christian was not quite as perfect as you thought and Serena had a few chinks in her armor too. This had a HEA, but I had a few issues with the way it got there. First of all there is way too much focus on Serena's size. I got tired of hearing about her figure and her pride in it and how much Christian enjoyed her curves. Her size shouldn't matter. Second, similar to the comments on Serena's figure, were the ones about her clothing line. First it was a sustainable clothing line, Then it was size inclusive. Then she posted on social media without makeup. I felt like the author turned every buzzword into her business. And finally, I felt the changes in Christian from relationship phobic to devoted boyfriend and Serena's mom from critical bitch to supportive mom were too sudden. Despite these problems, I feel like the series has potential and I will check out the next book.

Tracy Goodwin does it again! Serena and Christian chemistry is off the charts! It was fun and smexy filled ride. Definitely a must read for all sports romance fans!

I don't read many sports romances but I was really drawn into this from the description before I downloaded it, and I really loved it.

Christian is the red hot hockey player recently drafted to the New York Nighthawks to help them win the cup and he is determined to do all he can to get them there despite ribbing and some bad feeling within the team. Being so famous means that everyone wants a piece of Christian so it is refreshing when he literally bumps into a girl in a gas station who has no idea who he is. Unfortunately the accident leaves him feeling so much like an idiot that he forgets to ask for her number. As fate would have it they meet again in a bar when Christian's team bets him that she will say no to his advances. The banter between Christian and Serena is hilarious. She knows who he is and what is going on with his team, and makes him the laughing stock of the bar, while still giving him her number.

That starts a hot sexy passionate read with lots of humour. These two main characters just fit so well together despite their differences Serena being a socialite and Christian being a jock. Its just too bad that other people get in the way as a wonderful love story is playing out. Despite all the odds can Christian and Serena keep their relationship intact and have a happy ending? Be prepared to stay up all night to find out, I just could not put this book down it was so good. Looking forward to the next one in the series.

Great start to a great hockey series! Christian and Serena are sweet and sexy together. Everyone loves the hot, bad, sexy athlete who falls for the everyday girl. While Serena is far from the everyday girl she surely struggles with the every day girl struggles.

Their journey through finding each other to navigating fame and family was a great story and lays the path for a series I can't wait to read.

This is the first in the Nighthawks series and I’m impressed and ready for more. Hockey god Christian Chase has been announced Captain if the new expansion team the Nighthawks. He’s good at what he does and he’s going to make sure his team is ready. Things aren’t going well but one I’ll advised move brings him face to face with one sassy blonde.

Serena is an awesome character. She’s not model thin and doesn’t follow the group. She’s struck out on her own and may suffer insecurities but Christian is something she wants for herself. It’s a good feel good book you can’t help but enjoy. Seriously good and I can’t wait for the next one.
