He has the moves and the ego to back them up. Whether you love him or not, Christian knows how to be the star of the show, but what happen when the playboy's heart takes center stage? Ice Hot proves itself a game changer when it comes to matters of the heart. Goodwin steams up the pages with her sassy, heartwarming sports romance.

This is a totally new to me author, but I decided to read this book because I love hockey romance, and I'm always on the look out for my next favorite author! It's the beginning of a new series, (I hate starting in the middle of a series!) the cover is hot, and the blurb caught my attention. I thought, going in, that it was going to be another of those stories about a jerky jock who meets a girl, and she turns him from his player ways. Boy, was I wrong! This isn't just another sports romance. There was so much more to this story than is implied by the blurb!

Chris is the captain of a new expansion hockey team. He has a playboy reputation, and doesn't do relationships. My first impression of him was that he was a tough guy that didn't take any flack from anyone. Hockey is his life, and he doesn't have the time or inclination for anything else. Until he meets Serena, and looses gets all flustered. (super cute!) Serena is a BBW who is comfortable in her own skin....or she is working hard to get that way. She has her own hang ups, her own history that makes her who she is.

Even though this was a new to me author, I found that I enjoyed the writing. Realistic characters, with believable personalities. The more I read, the more I become aware that there are actually two stories going on at the same time. You have the romance between Chris and Serena, and then you have the story about the drama going on within the team. The author did an exceptional job at keeping me invested in both stories, and blending them together seamlessly. When the two stories merged, it was done in such a way that I couldn't help but feel real emotions for both characters and what they were going through. This was a phenomenal story, and I can't wait to see what happens next with the Nighthawks!

Terrific hockey romance; great start to a new series

Chris brings his experience to the new franchise team, and has his hands full as captain trying to bring all the various players together and solidify them into a cohesive team. Serena is determined to chart her own path, separate from her family's wealth and influence.

Chris's chance meeting with Serena is completely unlike anything he's ever experienced before, right from the start, and she keeps him on his toes even as she proves to be the perfect complement to his life on the rink. Serena's been hurt enough before that she's raised her standards almost impossibly high. When Chris sees that as relationship goals rather than as a challenge to conquer, he quickly skates past all her defenses.

These two have a lively, soul-satisfying journey to their HEA. It's everything we expect from a sports romance. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

The second time is charm when Christian runs into Serena. With their family backgrounds, neither one of them originally wanted a relationship. When their relationship goes public, life and love become harder. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher through Netgallery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. Even though there is plenty of steam and cussing in this book, there is also a good story. This book illustrates how hard it is for a couple to grow a relationship in the public eye. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I enjoyed reading this book.

While Christian was a little bit cocky, he was really sweet most of the time. I liked that Serena was an average/plus sized girl and not the stereotypical model type. The behind the scenes feelings she had about her self-image and self-esteem were refreshing. A different perspective and very well told. I liked that Serena was bold, sassy and feisty but also at times vulnerable.

This book is the start of a series about a hockey team, featuring the captain as the love interest. He meets a woman and goes through the normal relationship highs and lows as well as dealing with a problem teammate both on and off the ice. I will be interested in seeing how the next book plays out.

I received this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

A hockey romance with a good premise, "Ice Hot" follows Serena and Chris' whirlwind relationship as both try to balance developing a successful relationship with their already busy lives and commitments. Neither has successfully done long term relationships before and are surprised to discover they even want to try. Serena's new business venture with a clothing boutique is taking off and Chris has just been signed as captain to a new hockey team. I liked that both felt very much like real people- both had massive insecurities in their personal lives despite being successful in their professional lives. One downside to those insecurities was having to hear repeated over and over versions of why they were insecure and what does the other person see in them- which got old real fast. I wish Goodwin has spent a bit more time on the relationship before having Chris mess it up by dumping Serena 'for her own good' but she did spend plenty of time afterwards letting us feel good about how badly Chris felt, how he knew he'd messed things up, and how he was going to try to fix it.

A light and fast read, I wish the writing had been a bit tighter and less repetitive, but Tracy Goodwin does an excellent job of highlighting the importance of confidence in yourself, as well as the impact of cyberbullying on ordinary people.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher, for this free eARC.

Hockey romance books are my go-to, when I am in a book slump. This was my first book by Tracy Goodwin, and I am hooked. 🙌

Ice Hot is the first in a new series, New York Nighthawks. I am already so excited for the 2nd book.

Christian is the new captain for the Nighthawks. He has already won two Stanley Cups, and is ready for a third.

Serena comes from a wealthy family, who she wants nothing to do with. She owns her own boutique, and wants to make a name for herself.

Overall, I really enjoyed this second chance romance. It kept mely attention, and I finished it in less than 24 hours. I'm so glad I found another author, who writes amazing romance hockey books. I am patiently, kind of, wanting for the second book in this series!

Pub date is March 5th!

A great start to a new series. I have never watched hockey but I sure do love to read about it. I love a good sports romance that pulls you in from the start of the book and that’s what Ice Hot did.

Christian is the team captain for the Nighthawks and won two Stanley cups. He is good looking, rich and can have any woman he wants.

Serena comes from money but never really felt like she fit in. She has no plans of dating anyone and hasn’t for a while. Something about Christian slowly breaks her walls and she gives in. The chemistry between these two is off the charts.

I can’t wait for the next book in this series!

3.5 stars
I love hockey books and this fits right into my groove. It had all the elements to keep me interested. The author gave us people who had hidden pain and challenges. Each had insecurities but were able to rise above them. These two had chemistry to melt the ice. Looking for more to come.

Christian Chase plays hockey for the New York Nighthawks. His teammates are depending on him to get them all the way to the Stanley Cup, as their captain. One thing everyone knows is that he is a commitment phoebe, usually four dates is his limit. That’s until he meets the lovely and curvaceous Serena. The only problem is that he bumped into her and spilled her blue slushy all over her shirt and pants. Trying to apologize by giving her a towel and a t-shirt from his car, he finishes putting gas in her car. Once she takes off, he feels really stupid by not asking for her phone number. A few days later with his teammates, they go out for drinks, when they make a bet that he can’t pick up a girl. Approaching her, Christian is shocked to see it’s slushy girl. Deciding to be honest with her, he explains about the bet. But first he is even more honest, he wants her number. Thank goodness she does give him that right before she turns him down very loudly and publicly.
Serena is really interested in seeing Christian, why not, neither one wants a relationship.
However, what one wants may be different than what the heart wants. Serena went thru an awful and hurtful breakup, and she doesn’t want to repeat that anytime soon.
I loved this book, mainly because it was so hot and because I love hockey. A must read!

I have never read Tracy Goodwin's books before but this story line caught my eye. Boy am I glad I read this author.....I loved this book!

Christian Chase, known as Cyclone on the hockey ice is the captain of the newly formed team, the New York Nighthawks. Chris doesn't do relationships. He only has time for one thing....hockey. Sure he has a little fun now and then, but hockey is first priority.

Serena Ellis may be a little curvy for some people's liking but she likes her curves. As a clothing designer she designs clothes that any size woman could wear.

When a fun chance encounter brings these two together, you just know it is going to be a fun ride. When their second chance encounter ends up in a sexy, toe curling kiss now you know things are going to get down right hot! The more time Chris and Serena spend together, the stronger their feelings become. For the first time in Chris' life, something other than hockey has become important. For the first time in Serena's life she is starting to believe that this gorgeous hockey player really likes her, and not her parents money.

Quickly Chris realizes that sometime you have to let go something that you love in order to truly protect things in his life. Thankfully he also realizes that maybe life has other plans for him and maybe he does deserve true happiness and darn it, he is going to get his happy ending!

I just adored Serena and Chris. Both of them have skeletons in their closet that cause them to behave certain ways and it takes a huge leap of faith for both of them to truly trust the other. I just adored their banter! Add in their friends and family and this made for one fun, sexy and enjoyable story!

This was my first read for this author and I must say, I am so glad I picked this one out to read. I loved that the heroine was so relatable in this...she dealt with things that are relevant today. Body shaming is a huge issue in today’s society, and bullying as well.
This story unfolds quickly as you read...there is a bit of drama in this book. Things get thrown at these twos relationship from left field. One thing while reading this there was never any doubt that these characters love each other. And besides who doesn’t love a good hockey romance book, am I right?!?!

This was a great starter for this new series, and a pretty great book all around and I’m definitely looking forward to reading book 2 as soon as I can!

Serena Ellis and Christian Chase are two halves of a whole. Serena born into wealth but can never measure up. Christian grew up before his time. By accident they meet and can't get each other out of their minds. A chance encounter, brings them back into each other's orbit. Serena is strong, funny and loyal to her friends and family. The one thing she insists on is the truth. Christian is the team captain of the Nighthawks. He has lived and breathed hockey for most of his life. He is loyal and a protector. I enjoy the back and forth between. It takes a turn but in the end, they are better together than apart.

Christian won the last two Stanley cups with his old team, so it's not surprising he was picked to head up the newly formed Nighthawks. Serena is a fashion designer. When they bump into each other in a cute way, sparks ignite. Then they run into each other again and decide to see if/where this can go.

I liked both of the main characters and the major supporting characters also. I just didn't find the timeline at the beginning super believable, and I felt there were too many scenes with a ton of Christian's teammates and team staff (which I realize were likely introductions for future books) but each of them had a name, a nickname, and were sometimes referred to by their last names, so it made it hard to keep track. The book starts in summer, so it wasn't even really games. I found it distracting from the couple.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am a huge fan of hockey romances so I was super excited to see that there is a new series coming out. I hadn’t read anything by Tracy Goodwin before but I found I really enjoyed her writing style. I LOVE dual POV romances so I was happy that’s how this book was written. While this book did follow a similar formula to many contemporary romances, I didn’t find it predictable at all. If you love sports romances and somewhat “damaged” main characters, I definitely recommend this book!

I'm torn with this book. A large part of it is Serena's figure but this isn't !mentioned in the synopsis nor is it mentioned when the author described her. It isn't until a comment is made by Christian's team mate that Serena is voluptuous.
I understand that neither is looking for love it a relationship but I think a friendship should have been explored before they went down on each other. I'm no prude and I love insta -romances but this irked me a bit. There relationship had ups and downs but after the first few chapters, I think the author does a good job working out their relationship.
I didn't get a good understanding of time either. I'm not sure how long there were together as a couple of how long they were apart. Towards the end I would have guessed they were apart months for her to lose so much weight but I doubt it.
There are a few other storylines that didn't work but with a little adjustment to a few key storylines the book could be a success.

Christian just moved to new Hockey team New York Nighthawk. After signing multi year hefty contract, he is team's caption and has responsibility to bring the team together and also bring the cup to his new team. He brought his friends along with him and one of the the new player who were his sour losing enemy is brought to this team as well and he is rubbing him the wrong way. He only had goals set until he met Serena.
Serena was having a heck of a day until someone spilled blue slurpee on her. Day didn't look better until she saw who spilled on her, gorgeous adonis. She couldn't focus on him since she is busy trying to launch her clothing line. There are lots of people involved ini this launch and she couldn't be distracted.
Ever since meeting Serena, he couldn't get her off his mind. But he doubted he would meet her again until his team entered a club.
Christian and Serena both had their own issues (both family related) yet they decided to give it a try. Serena had issue with trust ever since she was a teenager and she is not ready to give her whole trust yet and Christian had his own issues with his father and abandonment issue. When they decided to date each other, social media got hold of their outing and it brought good, bad and the ugly side of media. They were scrutinized on every move.
Not all the media presence was good for both, especially for Serena, it did launched Serena's business but good news didn't last long and it took a toll on both of them. Everything was blamed on Serena and it was taking a toll on her business as well as her image.
Serena and Christian were strong against media scrutiny until Chris decided to brake everything to make Serena's life easier. Was this decision for him or for her?

It was about hockey team but it was more about how social media and how it can take toll on relationships. I did like Serena and how she was confident about her size and her message regarding self images. I loved Serena's grandma and her brother. It was different from other hockey books.
Thanks to Random House Publishing Group - Loveswept and Netgalley for ARC in exchange for honest review.

Chris is every woman’s dream man; too bad Serena is still stuck on teenage hangups. Chris, a super hot hockey star, was written as deep, understand strong male lead while Serena is shallow and can’t get over something that happened when she was 16 years old. It was annoying.
