This book was informative and challenged my way of thinking about diet. I had recently tried to do other diet and food changes to help with my anxiety and depression but did it based on fads and youtube videos. Dr. Altshuler lays out an understanding, then helps to create plans and understanding to help all to improve mental health with food. Also liked that there were options for meat-eaters, vegans, and vegetarians.

I actually wanted to read this because the emphasis was a psychological approach to not just weight loss but dealing with depression, anxiety, insomnia, and stress (all of which my son suffers from).

I found Dr. Altshuler's writing to be right on target. I think anyone who is willing to take a gamble and try a new approach to dealing with not just obesity but their health in general should read this. I highly recommend it.

Thank you Books Go Social and NetGalley for the digital ARC!

This was an interesting book. I thought the information presented was well laid out and flowed well. I really enjoyed reading it and want to try and start implementing some of what I read.

First, I want to thank Leonid Altshuler MD and NetGalley for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Leonid Altshuler MD wrote Depression, Insomnia, Anxiety How I Healed It All ALT/Sliding Scale Diet I found very interesting read. I myself am always fascinated on reading up on new diets and how they worked for people. I myself since 2004 have lost 193 lbs with the assistance of the Gastric Bypass Surgery and changing my eating habits by sticking to the South Beach Diet religiously. I was interested how his diet cured him of his Depression, Insomnia and Anxiety. Curious to see if he could give me some pointers on how to cure my Insomnia.

Leonid stresses that this information in this book is not intended or implied to be a supplement for any medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. He puts in bold letters and capital letters to never stop taking your medication without consulting with your doctor.

Leonid and I both agree on a similar concept that there is no best or worst diet for two individuals. Everything is strictly individual and it depends on many factors. I have felt this way for many years battling with my weight and with how many different plans I have tried.

This book addresses mental illness, Insulin, insulin resistance, patient education, and prediabetes.

Leonid gives you a look into his diet and the kind of lifestyle he follows.

What I found interesting is he gives advice to those who are vegetarian and don’t eat meat.

Poorly written. Author comes across as arrogant. Strikes me as the kind of guy who would shun vaccines and actual medicine and recommend I use crystals and essential oils.

The Sliding Scale Diet was not something I expected. In search of relief of feeling sick for so long (which has lessened once I had an organ removed), I requested this book to review. It had the title: "Sliding Scale Diet Commonsense Diet. New Psychological Approach", then when I downloaded the book, I found a different title, cover, and description: "The Art of Emptying the Brain Nepalese method spontaneous mental healing". Overall, I wouldn't have chosen to read this book based on the second title, yet it was an interesting read. A medical doctor turned psychiatrist described his personal anxieties/issues and the result of his experience/research in visiting "Tibet to participate in cultural and educational activities". Like the author, I believe in a more holistic approach to life and healing and that Western medicine would benefit from other cultural medicines/approaches worldwide.

The author strongly promotes a personalized diet program to be used for the treatment of insulin resistance. If the condition is left untreated, insulin resistance is the forerunner to diabetes. Naturally, it's best to nip it in the bud. The prose was easy to read and is recommended for anyone wishing to gather more information on this topic.

I offer my thanks to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for this ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

This book is a honest look at insulin resistance and the damage we are doing to our bodies without even knowing about it. Well I guess in honesty we all do know about it we just ignore it. This diet is along the lines of Atkins etc is more a lifestyle change than a diet so unless you are willing to put the hard work in this won’t work but it’s an honest look at what we need to do to improve all aspects of our life and health.
