I’m no wordsmith or critic, what I am is a lifelong reader of books that entertain and educate, books that thrill and depress, and books that make appreciate the joy of reading, this is such a book, in equal amounts, I actually dislike using e-readers, and that is pretty much my only criticism. I will be purchasing this book in paperback format as soon as it available to enjoy again

The combination of humor and science fiction hooked me from the start.

It's a tongue-in-cheek thriller. The trio of MCs are android escapees who crash land on earth. They're looking for "the key", an item hidden on earth long ago by the alien race who created them. They've disguised themselves as human - somewhat. They do a less than stellar job blending in. :-) Their actions, reactions, thoughts and reasoning are hilarious to watch. Yet, they are strangely heartwarming when they are protecting the chickens and cutting off people's extremities.
“Holy shit. I’ve got a brilliant plan.”
“I HAVE GRAVE misgivings.”
“Negative attitudes do not stimulate productivity or strengthen resolve, Gloss,” Meteor chided. “Gonzalo’s scheme is creative. Bold. Cunning.”
“Inane.”
“I think it’ll be…”
“Spike, if you say ‘fun,’ do be aware that I’ll be forced to sever one of your appendages."
They soon make an unlikely human friend and meet an unexpected ally. Just in time to need the help fighting off their alien pursuers. It's fast action, coming up against one obstacle after another. They learn and grow almost in spite of themselves. It's poignant to receive strong little darts of wisdom and truth among so much silliness. It makes it stand out. The whole time, you're rooting for them. You can't help it, because underneath the silliness there are some hard truths disclosed. Truths about humanity and what it means to be a sentient species.
Humans have developed weapons many orders of magnitude more powerful than would ever be needed to settle their petty disputes over territory and resources. For such a fragile species, they have a fascination for bombastic destruction that borders on the perverse.
As they mature, psychologically and emotionally, it makes the reader pause to take a look in the mirror.
Why are we always the used and never the users? Why do they have weak bodies while we have weak souls?
The last part of the story got pretty heavy. By this point I was totally invested in the outcome. It was emotional, even angsty.

My final thought as I turned the last page was "Wow, this was really different." When you read a lot of books, "different" is a gem.

Three robots on a mission for freedom. Sweet, funny and unique. I liked how the changes the trio go through. I had no idea what to expect from this one so was in surprised stitches with the chicken and the arm. I loved the whole thing with Gloss and Gonz. Favourite character was Spike, ever changing and the fun one.
