2019; Revell Books

The synopsis sounded so good, but the novel itself dragged. It lacked the suspense I was hoping for and focused more on romance.

Wow-zah. This was the first book I've read by Elizabeth Goddard, and I'll tell you now...it will not be my last.

The author wrote a captivating story with a prologue that will hook you and never let you go.
(😉😉)
She wrote wonderful characters who had a lot of pain and baggage they had to deal with. Lots of healing happened throughout the pages.

Austin fought A LOT of demons. He beat himself up over things he had no control over. He learned to hold secrets in until they almost killed him. Even though it took a lot for him to open up to people he had a strong relationship with God. He was a natural protector and had a hard time coping when his protection didn't always work.

Willow was brilliant! I love when the leading lady has her head on straight, and can keep it that way in stressful situations. She was a tenacious character, she would hunt down every lead or hunch to complete a task given to her. She was always caring when she did so. She relied heavily on God when she felt she hit a road block, and I really admired that about her.

That's one thing I really loved about these characters, they all had a relationship with God. They went to Him when they were in trouble, and even to just thank Him for his protection.

This was a GREAT suspenseful book. Once I hit the 3/4 mark the ball REALLY started rolling and I was on the edge of my seat. I couldn't wait to get to the end of the book to find out who the "bad guy" was!

I really enjoyed the premise of this book, and the book itself, and I can't wait for the next book in the series!
I rated it a 4/5 stars.

In the first couple of chapters, we have a stolen baby, a dramatic house fire, and an unwanted ex-FBI agent. That cinched it! I was totally hooked.

From there, this book did not disappoint. It kept up high stakes, high tension, and great complexity. The suspense and mystery were both well written throughout, and the brother dynamics were spectacular. I liked that the leading lady was a forensic genealogist, and I wanted more details of that work in this thread. One thing that was greatly improved from the author’s Running Target was that the characters in Never Let Go were consistently very competent in their chosen careers. I like seeing improvement like this in authors’ works.

Overall, this was a really entertaining, high-suspense novel. I hope the other two books in the series are just as fabulous.

Content: marital affair mentioned (including consequences of that action)

This story was riveting and kept my interest from beginning to end! I loved the main characters Willow and Austin as they worked together to figure out what happened to Willow‘s grandfather and a cold case regarding a missing baby 20 years prior. Lots of twists and surprises!

Lots of action and some romance. I liked reading about their faith, their struggles and how they tried to reconcile with family. I highly recommend this first book of this new series!

I can’t wait to read book 2 which will be all about Heath, Austin’s brother, who is a secondary character in this story.

I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

A fascinating heroine -- a forensic geologist -- is pulled into a rich mystery. Tightly twisting and turning plot with new strands of mystery lead to suspense. A really interesting novel.

This was a good read. The hero and heroine were good characters although I liked the hero better. He protected her. The mystery behind the missing baby was interesting. I was surprised at the reveal of who was behind the abduction. So many twists and turns. The romance was sweet.

I agree with other readers, most of the action happens from the middle to the end of the book. And I wished we got an update on what happens to everyone and the case after we find out who the main suspect was. Nonetheless it was a good read. 3.5 stars.

Willow Anderson is a forensic geologist who has just suffered some tragic losses in her life. When her beloved grandfather, mentor, and business partner dies in an accident (but was it really an accident?) she decides she will finish the last case he accepted. When it immediately becomes clear that Willow is now being targeted, she cautiously agrees to accept former boyfriend Austin McKade's help to solve the case - and try to stay alive.

Ex-FBI Agent Austin has his own family issues. Even though it's been two years since he and Willow were together, he has never truly moved on. But when the search to solve the mystery takes him near home and family, he is forced to confront all of the emotions he's thus far been unwilling to face. But who can he trust? And are there truly any coincidences? How are all of these threads connected?

I enjoyed this book (the first I've read from this author) and am looking forward to the next in the Uncommon Justice series, "Always Look Twice". I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Baker Publishing Group in exchange for my honest review.

While I didn't love this book, I did find it enjoyable. It wouldn't be a good fit for my school library, but for fans of Christian suspense, I would recommend this title, especially if the reader is particularly voracious.

I enjoyed Goddard’s new book, but at times felt a little stuck. Around the middle of the story action kicked into gear, which kept me reading until the end. Just wish it had been as intense from the beginning. More 3 1/2 stars.

This is the first novel I have read by Elizabeth Goddard and it definitely won't be the last. Never let Go is the first in the Uncommon Justice series.

One of the most interesting parts of the story to me was the fact that Willow, the main character, was a forensic genealogist. I was not aware of such a career so I found that quite fascinating. After her grandfather dies, Willow takes on one of his cases which involved finding the missing child of a woman who was dying. Her dream was to meet the daughter who had gone missing from the hospital right after she was born twenty-one years ago. This case definitely had it's challenges and through a series of page-turning events, it became quite obvious someone did not want Willow to track down this missing person and was willing to do whatever it took to keep Willow from finding the answers she was looking for. In addition to the edge of your seat suspense, the story came with romance as well. Austin, Willow's ex boyfriend, is the person who ends up helping her search for the missing girl. Can they move past the past to have a future together and will they find the missing girl in time? You'll have to read to find out.

I was given a copy of this novel from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Following the sudden death of her grandfather, forensic genealogist Willow Anderson continues his work on a cold case kidnapping that happened over 20 years ago. But when someone makes an attempt on her life, she knows that she is on the right track.

Former FBI agent, and Willow's Ex-Boyfriend Austin McKade offers his help. Austin must confront his past, if he's going to fight to win back the one who got away.

A fast paced read, with fantastic tension, strong characters lead this explosive read. I liked the intriguing and taunt plot, as well as the well done emotional element to this story.

Willow is determined to see this to the end, as this is the last case her grandfather was working on before his death. Her grandfather was a big part of her life, with a strong faith that inspired her daily. She isn't sure if she has the strength to follow in his footsteps as a forensic genealogist, and she tries to do what he would do and make him proud. She must use all of her wits to solve this case and make it out alive. I admired her perseverance and strong family and faith values.

Austin had a troubled childhood, and has always struggled to lay the past to rest. He is a loyal friend and is determined to help Willow, and be there for her this time. He's always kept a close guard on his heart with walls a mile high, he wants that to change and be someone that she can rely on.

A thrilling read, with compelling characters and a whirling plot, you don't know who to trust or where Willow and Austin can turn. It's pretty much non-stop action, but the strong character development is not neglected. There is strong faith, and a terrific plot that kept me guessing the whole way through and before I knew it--and way too soon I might add--the book was over. I was hanging on tight the whole time! There was a full cast of characters, and I couldn't help but love how the mystery brought them to Wyoming. This is the first book I've read by Elizabeth Goddard, and it won't be the last, I'm definitely won over as a new fan and can't wait for the rest of the series. Highly recommend this suspenseful adventure, with a compelling storyline and fantastic heroes!

Elizabeth Goddard was a new to me author and WOW did she deliver. Her style is very different from what I'm used to in the CF genre, but in a good way. It did take me a while to adjust, but I soon became captivated by the characters. The pace of the story kept me moving and wanting to turn the page. I appreciated Willow's tenacity and strength. She was a strong female lead who also allowed you to love her in a romance role. Austin was the alpha male we all need with the tenderness of a romantic. The tension in this book was INCREDIBLE, both in the romance and the suspense. Just when I thought I knew what was coming, Goddard jerked me into another direction I never saw coming. I great first book in the series, and I can't wait for more.

Uncommon Justice Book # 1

The story premise is very intriguing it brings together Forensic genealogist Willow Anderson with Ex-FBI agent Austin McKade on a quest for answers regarding a baby’s abduction more than twenty years ago. The story is set against the stunning backdrop of Bridger-Teton National Forest region of Wyoming.

I am not a huge fan of romance but when suspense is thrown into a plot layered with twists hard to see coming it makes for a pretty good read. Well romance…the chemistry between Austin and Willow is hot and cold I really wanted to slap them to make a decision but again this is a necessity to show us how vulnerable relationships can be and how our past can interfere with our decisions to move forward. I like the way the author weaves in the backstory of her protagonists as the story progresses. It is also interesting to watch Willow and Austin piece together the decades of mystery behind this kidnapping. Following these two has kept me on the edge trying to see who was behind. Well it is a well-kept secret that is divulged only in the last pages. This is a story well done from its riveting opening to the satisfying conclusion…..

This fast-paced and emotional page-turner is my first experience reading Elizabeth Goddard and it will not be my last.
