I recieved this via Netgalley and thought it was a good read. The characters are everyday people that I felt I could relate too, such a great storyline and plot. It had me laughing and crying! A very uplifting book with lots of charm and romance. A great book to kick off 2019 with.

This book was absolutely delightful and I loved every minute of it. It was really original and imaginative – I'd never read anything like it! and the characters felt real and funny. The author has written a very clever book, with different voices and styles. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I really could not stop laughing!

This was just an absolutely lovely and heartwarming read. It was sweet, it was cute, it was funny. The writing felt like it just flowed effortlessly.

I couldn't wait for our main characters to meet, and when they did I couldn't put the book down. Nor could I form much in the way of coherent thought in regards to reviewing.

I really like that author put effort into making Leon's narrative voice so different from Tiffy's. It's a small thing, not having the pronouns but it makes him stand apart from Tiffy just at a brief glance, plus it's not too distracting. I write like it too some days, when I'm in the mood to be short and to the point!

Our main characters were never annoying or dumb like some romance characters can be. They were both really relatable. I completely felt for Tiffy when she started having flashbacks and triggers. Very glad the gaslighting was discussed - it's easy to say her previous relationship was crappy and write it off, but having it carry over into her new relationship and have her work through it with therapy was realistic and a hopeful message to send to anyone going through something similar.

I absolutely loved this book. I'd describe it as being in the Chicklit category with a romcom element to it. Predictable in parts but it was a great Christmas season read.

Basically about a man and woman who share a room albeit at different times. I wondered if the author had seen the excellent film 'Dirty Pretty Things' because this had the same premise except on a serious note.

The book shows how their life unfolds over a period of time and they do on the surface appear to be two completely different personalities until their lives collide in an interesting way.

As the blurb suggests if you're a fan of chick-lit or just fancy a light-hearted read this book is definitely for you.

I'm also grateful to Netgalley for the ARC copy.

Loved it. The story was unique and so well told. I was hooked almost immediately and couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next. The characters felt like friends by the end!

Tiffy needs a new place to stay now that her ex boyfriend has moved on and she can no longer stay at his place rent free. Leon needs to raise extra money for his troubled family member so why not rent out his flat and bed when he works nights? The weekends Leon can stay at his girlfriend's place. Easy right?, Oh and the flat mates are to never meet.

This story delighted me and it offered so much more than what I thought it would. A lovely story about friends, hope, loyalty and a little bit of romance in there too! I also liked the fact that there were several stories running throughout which was very easy to get invested in because they all at least involved one of the main two characters.

A great read and so much more than what you would originally expect.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for a honest review.

5 impossibly cute and yet heartwrenching stars.

It got so much better at the end, with the intensity ramped up and the pacing increased (even though I was already loving it from the very beginning.)

Their romance was cute and didn't feel rushed but progressed naturally. Richie owns my heart and I'd like to have a book with his post prison journey now thanks!

* I wish I'd liked this more.

It was an unusual and fairly unbelievable situation, having two strangers share a flat/bed and never meet.
It was all very sweet when they communicated via notes.
It all got a bit too silly after they met, along with the ex boyfriend, the overly wise nine year old.
Preferred the first half but decent enough.

Absolutely loved every moment of this book! I started it thinking it was just a quick feel good read but I was so badly mistaken!

Tiffy is a character you can't help but love and you can empathize with her life and just want to help her even when it all goes wrong...

Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT!! What a funny, sweet book. Held my attention from the first to the last page - I can hardly believe this is a debut novel. When released, I shall buy this for a few friends. A love story with a difference. Did I say I loved it??

Thanks to NetGalley, publisher and author for an advanced digital copy in exchange for an honest review.

Funny, romantic, uplifting, psychological, this book has a bit of everything. I loved the characters, the writing, there was nothing that I'd change. A great read and I'd highly recommend it.

I can't quite believe that The Flatshare is a debut novel, it's storyline and characters are flawlessly planned. Beth O'Leary has written a brilliantly uplifting rom-com that will have you smiling until your cheeks ache and possibly spraying coffee out of your nose all over your kindle / paperback due to all the hilarious and cringy situations both Leon and Tiffy get themselves into. You know what it's like, a few days after Christmas and you're feeling too full of turkey and maybe hungover? This is the exact read that you need to lighten your mood! Obviously it's not out until next April but turkey and rum isn't only drank at Christmas right?

I devoured this book in a day, could not (didn't want to) put it down, that's obviously the first sign that it's a good book. The second indication that the author has written a readable book is when you fall in love with the characters, and hate all the ones you're meant to. That is what the characters created by Beth did, made me fall in love with them to the point I wished they were my real friends (sorry real friends!). Tiffy is an outgoing and friendly woman with a questionably unique sense of humour, whereas Leon is a bit more of a closed door with his life and emotions. They're perfect flat-share mates!

The storyline is flawless and obviously well planned out, no plot holes and beautifully written, I just loved it plain and simple. It's five stars from the girl with the coffee drenched kindle! Everyone will be talking about this superb rom - com come next summer so make sure that you're not left out and read it!

Oh my goodness! This is one of the best books of the year! Absolutely hilarious! Had a smile on my face so much reading this! Best characters ever! Brilliant!

I simply adored this book!

As soon as I read what it is about I knew it will be an enjoyable read. Such a great idea for the plot. How many of us are only half living in our flats, if we could rent it out for the time we are never there for some extra cash, would we? Seeing signs of someone living ‘with’ you but never meet them? It’s mad, isn’t it? How about sharing THE SAME BED!

Hilarious post-it exchanges sent me to hysterics on many occasions and definitely helped to connect with characters more.

I don’t remember when a book made me laugh so much. Leon’s awkwardness and Bo’s crazyness. I just loved them! And heartbreaking back story made it even so much more than just a ‘funny’ book.

This book won’t be out until next year but if you can, pre-order it or put in on your wish list as it’s so worth the read.

The underlying themes of emotional abuse, misogyny and abuse of power meant that this book is not quite the lighthearted book that I was expecting. Not that I am complaining because I am a frequent eye-roller when reading books that are too rosy glowed.

Tiffy was a likeable character – a bit of a quirky character who I just couldn’t help but like. Leon on the other hand I still don’t feel like I know. His voice was quite devoid of personality at times and he seemed unaware of life passing him by. I assume that this was a stylistic choice of the author as Tiffy had oodles of personality. Saying that I did like that Leon’s actions were respectful and honest and there was a real lack of misunderstandings leading to torture for the lead female.

The book felt quite long to me – normally I would burn through a book with this description but there was something in this that made me read more slowly. Possibly the ominous nature of Justin, the unapologetic unlikable Gerty (who I actually loved despite being irritated by her), the calm counselling Mo. Gender really didn’t play a huge part in this story – women were allowed to be successful in their chosen careers, men were allowed to be competent and conscientious in more caring professions. Without it being a big deal – no-one passed any comment about the gender of the characters and their chosen professions. Not even to applaud them. Refreshing!

A solid 4/5

I received an ARC from netglley.

A sweet, warm book that's the perfect antidote to a bad day and/or the world outside. Leon and Tiffy were wonderful, the issues raised through the novel were handled well I thought, and I'm just delighted the rom com in all formats is seeing a resurgence!

Contemporary, funny, light hearted romance. Leon and Tiffy are two flatmates that share a bed.... but have never met! One works nights, the other days and their friendship developers over a series of post it notes and left overs in the kitchen.
Warm and uplifting.

Been hearing so much about this book, I couldn't wait to read it. It was a bit of a strange set up with the conversation side taking place in, however when you get used to it its an easy read.
Great characters and good story. Predictable on some occasions but not on others.
Really enjoyable. Think its going to be a stand our 2019 novel.

Some adjectives from the cover: 'quirky', 'joyous', 'wonderful' - I'd agree with all of these.

Tiffy is reluctantly leaving her ex's flat after their split, and stumbles across an unconventional, and perhaps unwise, flatshare situation. She won't meet Leon, but will share a bed with him.

The two main characters, Tiffy and Leon, are impossibly lovely. This is not the book for you if you like your characters to be well-rounded in any kind of realistic way, but sometimes that's not the type of character we want to side with; Disney proves how popular loveliness can be.

This is a warm hug of a book and so lovely to read that I finished it in a couple of sittings (very unusual for me). I look forward to reading more from Beth O'Leary and to seeing this debut novel achieve success in 2019.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this lovely book. I'll be spreading the word in 2019!
