Very sweet. Extremely light. Beers always delivers great romances but usually the stories are a little fuller. This one was as cute as always but didn't have any depth. A nice, quick and light read.

I’m not a big romance fan, but I do like Georgia Beers books, which contain (fairly) realistic and believable characters and situations. The two leads here are Addison (sorry Addison, but I don’t like your name), who is literally working herself into an early grave in a bid to be the chosen person to take over her mother’s business empire; and Katie, hired as a temporary assistant to Addison in an attempt to stop the latter working herself to death, who is dealing with trying to support her mother in caring for her dad who has early onset dementia. Katie is lovely; Addison, apparently not so much, and doesn’t think she wants or needs an assistant.

I’m sure it’s not a spoiler for anyone to say sparks fly, and attraction and feelings are denied but ultimately acted upon. Inevitably predictable as it may be, I loved reading it; Georgia Beers writes well and has the knack of making you care about her characters. Katie’s dad’s dementia is very well conveyed and the reality of this and awful toll of the condition on a family is not glossed over at all. I do like how Georgia’s characters are professional women who don’t generally act like utter idiots as seems to occur in many romances. Well, maybe Addison does a bit (she’s stressed, ok?) but you can still see things from her point of view.

Maybe the ending was a bit rushed - but actually, I didn’t mind that and thought it worked.

A lovely warm read - comfort reading for me.

Another winner by Georgia Beers. It has been awhile since I have read one of her books, the last was the JuneBug Farms trilogy (which I highly recommend). So was looking forward to diving into Calendar Girls.

The book is around a main character that is literally working herself to an early grave and the other main character that is doing everything she can to help her parents with caregiver needs. As usual Ms. Beers gives the main characters great depth and the supporting characters charm. There is some ‘heavy’ parts to the book around Katie’s father, but Ms. Beers does a wonderful job around compassion and understanding of what is going on with him-either she did great research or she has some person experience with this type of infliction-I had tears in a few parts. But overall the plot is about how Katie helps Addison break out of her ice-queen, workaholic, smell the roses life. The book has rich descriptions of the scenes, and LOVED there was a bit of reference to JuneBug Farms. If I had only one regret with the book, I wished the ending had been drawn out just a bit more-what happens at work with Katie’s new job, does Addison finally get the deserved ‘partnership’ of the company, do they marry and have kids so that Katie’s mom can get some long term happiness also with grandkids…..ok yeah I am a sucker for good old fashion HEA endings.

I look forward to getting back to purchasing/reading more books by Ms. Beers, I have many of her older ones in paperback, so I’ll be looking to add to the collection via e-books, keep them coming Ms. Beers!

I received an ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, but would have written the same opinion if I had come across this book on my own.

To see my Amazon review, it will be under CC-Another Hit, when the book is published

‘Calendar Girl’ is a perfect masterclass on how to write a breathtakingly beautiful romance novel. Absolutely perfect. And it’s not just about the romance. It’s about love and family and realising what is important in life. It is utterly captivating and the emotional intensity is off the scale. Addison Fairchild is a hard-driven business woman who has no life outside the office. Her determination to succeed has affected her life in so many ways – and all to her detriment. This Ice Queen is about to get thrown off course by the most amazing woman – and she is not at all prepared. Katie Cooper takes a second job to help her patents as the family struggles to cope with her father’s early onset dementia. She is kind, loving and thoughtful and exactly what Addison needs. I loved Katie. She brought out the best in Addison and was so caring. I wanted Addison to realise that she had everything she could ever want right in front of her, if only she could see it.

Georgia Beers had me captivated from the start with this story. Two skilfully crafted characters, an enthralling plot and the best kissing scene ever! Boy does this woman know how to write a first kiss. And don’t get me started on the sex scene. Hot, romantic and epic. I adored this book. Five stars and highly recommended.

I was given this ARC to review.

Calendar Girl is a contemporary romance perfect for those who love a good opposites attract story, an office romance, or ice queens who actually try really hard not to melt all over the place.

First off, I love Katie. I like to think I'm something of a Katie, so *warm hugs all around.* Katie is a mug of warm hot chocolate with real marshmallows (and probably a nip of Bailey's). And then there is our ice queen, Addison. Ohhhhh, Addison. *smh* I actually really love how well Georgia Beers built these women into fully real women, not just cardboard cutouts of characters. Addison was pretty horrible sometimes, but I still felt myself hurting for her and worrying about her. Both characters go through a lot of growth throughout the book, which is always something I love to see - especially Addison needs to do a lot of soul searching.

The only thing I didn't really like about Calendar Girl was how abruptly the ending steamrolled in. It could have benefited from some sort of epilogue checking back in on Addison and Katie and how're they're getting on after some amount of time later. I'd have really loved an epilogue with the two of them at the annual fundraising gala the following year, maybe with some elements that clue the reader in on how Katie's mom and dad are doing as well. That would have wrapped the book up a little more smoothly, I think.

I loved this book… It was sweet girl meets Ice Queen trope with a side of sexy office romance and boss falls for employee. Perfecto!

Addison is in the running to run her families company Fairchild Enterprises. She lives and breaths her job and has no time for social life. All she wants is to get her place as the head of the company, even If that means ignoring her health. When Addison's health stops her in her tracks, her mother (and current head of Fairchild Enterprises) demands she get an assistant and a life, Addison has no other option much to her chagrin. In walks the beautiful and intelligent, Kate Cooper. Kate’s life is on hold currently as she helps take care of her ailing father. The job with Addison will help her pay some of the medical bills that are mounting for her mother. But being Addison's assistant is anything but easy. Addison is stand offish and clearly would do anything but have an assistant however, when they start to work together it’s clear there is an underlying attraction that neither of them expected.

What a great premise and I thoroughly enjoyed Kate and Addison figuring each other out. My favourite part of the story was each and every time Kate found a way to impress Addison, thus impressing Addison enough to lower her walls... slightly.

I also really enjoyed the secondary characters, they were excellent in this book, especially Addisons best friend, Sophie and Kates friend, Samantha. At seperate times during the book I thought these women would make for a good toaster oven romance if Georgia Beers ever decided to work on their stories.

Lastly, I enjoyed how much the back stories of both characters drove their personalities. Kate who is caring and loving, who spends time looking after her dad, she was the perfect person to aide Addison back to health and work after her health issues. They really were perfect for each other and the chemistry in the bedroom was hot!

Great book and as usual, I am excited to see what come next from Georgia Beers.

Georgia Beers is one of my very favorite author's. Her story's are always rich with emotion, anxiety, romance, romance, romance and characters you enjoy spending time with. And this story has all of that. There is plenty of personal discoveries and changes.....some good, some very bad. I would have liked an Epilogue though. There was one serious Cooper family delema running through the story that I wanted to see resolved.

What a delightful read! The main characters, Addison and Katie are fully fleshed out, I felt like I knew their ins and outs early on. Addison and Katie have a rocky relationship from the beginning and the evolution on their relationship is wonderful to read. If you are looking for a romance novel that is well written and will steal your heart, this is it! Highly recommend!

Let me just start by saying that I'm a huge Georgia Beers fan. When I see her name, I'm going to pick up the book immediately, without even reading the blurb.

With that being said, this was not one of her best novels. Don't get me wrong - it's not like this was bad, it just wasn't all that great either. Personally, I finished this book on Saturday and put off writing my full review until today (Monday) so I could review on my computer instead of my phone. Now that I'm writing, I realize that I completely forget one of the MC's names. I don't usually forget things like that. Now that I go back and read the blurb, I'm remembering right away, but that's basically my whole point with this one - it's a bit forgettable, and that's not the reason I fell in love with Beers' novels.

This is still a very good read, and well worth your time, but I can't help but compare it to Beers' other novels and find this one lacking. Had this been my first Beers novel, I'm sure I would have rated it higher, but her usual spark was just a bit lacking in this one. I honestly can't put my finger on exactly why either, it's just a bit dull. The ice queen character Addison was done well, and the friendly personal assistant Katie was also on point. Their chemistry worked, and I truly liked them as a couple. The writing flows perfectly, the characters were likeable, the story worked exactly how I expected it to work, but...…..

Maybe I've just set the bar too high because some of Beers' other novels are GREAT, but this one just lacked that extra something that I've come to expect from a Beers novel.

3.5 stars, rounded down to 3.

**Many thanks to the publisher for providing me with a free copy in exchange for my honest review.**

I found Calendar girl to be a pleasant read. It wasn't one of my favorite reads by Georgia Beers, but it still was a good read.

As I was reading this book, I felt that something was missing. Maybe it was the fact that the author choose to only show the attraction by one of the main characters. Addison was so Ice cold that you only ever saw her drive to take over her mother's company once she retired. On the other hand, you saw the immediate attraction that Katie expressed when she saw Addison. I always found that a book flows better when at least both main characters finds the other person attractive. The chemistry between the characters finally heats up about 1/3 of the way into the book.

One thing I really did enjoy with this book is the relationship between Katie with her mother. It was a nice treat to read a book with the special dynamics between this mother and daughter.

Overall the book was well written and had good dialogue. If you like a slow burn, this will suit you great. I would likely rate this book closer to a 3.5.

Calendar Girl was the first Georgia Beers book I have read, but will certainly not be the last. I loved following the story of professional businesswoman Addison Fairchild and the temporary assistant Katie Cooper.

Without giving any spoilers, the first kiss was unexpected, giving us all a nice little teaser .......(this is a Romance novel.... We all know there will be some kissing!)

I started reading this book on a train journey, and was really sad my journey was not longer in order to continue reading. Let's just say I needed to read just one more chapter ALL night long, until I got to the end in the wee small hours.

A sweet, sweet romcom of a story.

Addison Fairchild, the eldest of three Fairchild children is working herself to death in an effort to be named successor to the behemoth Fairchild Enterprises by her soon-to-retire mother. She has so far achieved solitude, isolation, ulcers and unimaginable stress levels, but refuses to slow down. She is desperate to get the position. It ends up in a collapse and a rushed visit to the ER. As a result, an assistant is thrust upon Addison – if only temporarily.

Katie Cooper, a sweetheart, all sweetness and light, is that assistant. Katie’s father has age-related onset of dementia and is quickly fading. She has recently moved back to live with her parents to be there for them physically, emotionally and financially.

Addison is resentful about saddled with an assistant and pulls a Miranda Priestly on Katie. Though seriously devalued by her new boss, Katie struggles to be seen by Addison, driven by need and attraction.

Beers writes an engaging story. You really get the two girls. You can understand why Addison runs away from Katie. You can feel Katie and desperately wish for good things to happen to her.

The OTT romantic in us would’ve like a bigger, grander end-gesture from Addison…but that’s just our greedy hearts.

Calendar Girl is a nice read, which you may find yourself returning to when you want a hot-chocolate-and-warm comfort hug in your life.

I rec'd an ARC from NetGalley/Bold Strokes Books for an honest review.<br />Addison and Katie are leads in this romance which had good moments and some vague, choppy sections before coming to a swift pat ending. I would've liked Katie's home life descriptions to be briefer and an expansion on the reasons for Addison's angst. Ms. Beers' handling of the illness dementia was skillful but at times took up too much of the plot. While I've enjoyed previous books by the author, this one I liked a little less. 3 stars

I must say it was kind of a struggle for me to get through the beginning of this book but I continue on because I haven’t read a book yet by Georgia Beers that I didn’t enjoy! I told myself this can’t be real and I agreed to continue reading to prove myself wrong. This book started to catch my interest a little bit more during the middle and much much more towards the end. They say opposites attract and Katie brung our the best in Addison. I loved how stubborn Addison finally came to her senses and confessed what she was going through and put all her raw feelings out on the table to Katie. I also love Katie for being so strong-hearted and loving despite things she was going threw at home and the challenges she faced with Addison. She remain the same sweet, caring, and affectionate person always true to herself. They are perfect for each other in every sense. I can’t speak on the whole book but towards the ending really caught my interest I love it! #Netgalley

Whenever I read the name Georgia Beers on an upcoming book to be released, I know I am in for a good romance. Calendar Girl, her most recent romance, fulfills that expectation.

The plot involves two main characters—Addison Fairchild and Katie Cooper. Addison runs Fairchild Rentals, one of the three companies owned by Fairchild Enterprises. The other two companies are run by Addison’s sister and brother. Addison has a type-A personality and, as one might expect, is a workaholic. She expects that when her mother retires, she will be appointed as the CEO. Unfortunately, Addison’s health and personality suffer from all the self-imposed pressure, and she ends up in the hospital. Her mother decides to hire Addison a personal assistant to help organize and perform work-related tasks
.
Katie Cooper is hired as Addison’s new personal assistant. Katie is a bright, energetic woman. She, too, has pressures to face daily. Her father has Alzheimer’s and Katie moved home to help her mother with his caretaking and to assist with paying bills.

Addison and Katie are attracted to each other, but company policy prohibits fraternization. Throughout the plot, we will be presented with the development of this work relationship and the exploration of their feelings for one another.

The plot, although predictable, is well developed and flows nicely. The characters are created with a lot of depth. I particularly liked Katie. She is smart, funny, and has so much patience.

I have read all of Georgia Beers’ books. Although this one does not fall within the top five, I would certainly recommend it. Readers will spend several hours with a well written romance. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

I was given this ARC in return for a fair and honest review.

Addison Fairchild is an ice queen/workaholic when her mother forces her to accept the help of a personal assistant. Katie Cooper needs an extra job with good pay to help out her mother with her sick father. With no choice left, she takes on the job of a personal assistant. The plot was mostly about Addison characters development with the help of Katie. I felt the end left me hanging. Did Addison really overcome all her issues? Either way, it is a good read. The angst at the end could have lasted a bit longer. It seems to have resolved so easily. A solid Georgia Beers book tho.

I absolutely adored this one. This is just the type of uptight boss, good hearted employee mix that I enjoy reading.

Addison is the boss and typical type A personality of the eldest child who happens to ignore her health and has zero social life. After a scare, her mother (and boss) foists an executive secretary on her. Enter Katie Cooper, the absolute personification of smarts and kindness.

Addison mellows down a bit thanks to Katie, however, she is still her own enemy. You will need to read this one to find out what happens when the office romance is forbidden (yes seriously, Addison fires someone and the other person resigns in that consensual coupling).

also, Addison is the CEO who definitely needs to follow her own rules.

Definitely recommend, even though we DONT GET AN EPILOGUE like all of Georgia Beers books

As in many of the books of this author, the approach of the story has much more potential and not all the issues in it are treated equally, so the result does not end up being complete. I will try to explain myself.
There are several aspects that affect the two protagonists at the moment in which they know each other. Addison is the director of one of the branches of the business that her mother started from scratch, the oldest of three siblings, obsessed with always being at the level that her mother supposedly demands. This has affected her physically with an ulcer, high blood pressure, etc. besides having turned her into a bitch, almost hated by her employees, which forces her to accept, reluctantly, the help of an assistant. Katie is the assistant who extremely needs the job that is offered to her through a friend who works in the same company. Katie's life is not very pleasant nowadays, having been fired when she requested a reduction of her working hours so she could help her mother care for her father with dementia. The only income she has now is what she gets by taking care of two twins in the morning.
So we have an ice queen, forced to have a shadow in the form of an assistant, who also has an exceptionally cheerful character despite her personal situation. You can imagine a lot in terms of developing the relationship between them from this. But the author is busy filling many of the pages with the unfortunate illness of Katie's father and also loses a lot of time with the issue of workplace harassment with which Addison's mother seems to have fixation.
And although there are several truly romantic moments, they are few and far between.
And the end is too fast, an epilogue would be appreciated.
So I agree with other reviews, two characters somewhat wasted that could have given a much better result, as far as a romantic novel is concerned. In spite of everything, I do not want to value it badly or stop recommending it.

I usually judge lesbian romance novels by these three rules: whether or not the author has created characters that I can relate to and am committed to, a happy ending, heartbreaking situations that usually have me crying. This author writes a good book, but every once in a while she writes a great one with all of my required elements, and this book did it for me.

The premise was intriguing and original. The characters were likable from the start and the romance was satisfying. The ending wrapped up just a bit too quickly and an epilogue would have tied everything up perfectly.

'Calendar Girl' by Georgia Beers is a well written sweet workplace romance. It has all the elements of a good contemporary romance, and if you like this type of story you will like 'Calendar Girl'. It even has an ice queen for a major character.

Addison Fairchild and Katie Cooper both have some fairly major family issues, with Addison even developing health problems that end up with the two working together in a manager/subordinate situation at Addison's family business. There is attraction, but also many elements of the story keeping them apart. The book also contains a fair bit of angst.

I really like Georgia Beers writing and I do like this story. The characters are well developed, the story keeps you reading, and I did connect with Addison and especially Katie.

I'm giving this book a solid four stars, and I really wanted to give it a five, but I just couldn't. While this is a book that I could see myself reading more than once, I didn't really like the ending. I wanted the story to go a bit further than it did. It is a good ending. I just wanted more.

I received an ARC from Net Galley and Bold Strokes Books for an honest review.
