I received an ARC copy from netgalley for my honest review, so thank you netgalley and publishers for offering me this book! ♡
It's not easy being royal. Sixteen-year-old Evangeline wears her crown proudly, but between her duties and her overprotective big brother, the idea of romance is just a dream. But a chance encounter in Chicago changes all that….
Sure, seventeen-year-old Tyler Evans loves playing hockey, but he's more concerned about providing for his dad and little sister. Then he meets Eva--and falls head-over-heels in love—and he has two more problems. One, she's his best friend's little sister. Two, she wears a crown.
But then Eva accidentally mistakes Tyler for a visiting prince, and for the first time, Tyler doesn't feel like a nobody. He knows he has to tell her the truth…but not yet.
His plan? To keep up the royal charade as long as it takes to convince Eva he’s the guy for her. Even if he’s lying to everyone…including himself.

The cover and title is what originally drew me to this book.
This is my first book by this author. It was alltogether an easy read. ♡ I give this book a
3.5 star rating!

I got an advanced copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review! Thanks NetGalley!

After reading the summary, I just had to get a copy to read. This is the third book in the Chicago Falcons series and the only one that I read. I like that this works as a stand alone book as well, but also entices you to read the others books.

It's a classic royal love story; common boy falls for royal girl while pretending to be royal himself. I like that Tyler and Eva's point of views were both told in alternating chapters. And both characters felt real. And I like the time of year it took place: October through December.

This feels like a light royal romance story with a little bit of the holidays in it...and realistic.

A cute yet predictable read that I completely got lost in and couldn't help but fall a little in love with along the way.

This is a cute, clean romance. It has some great lessons throughout it as well. Both Evangeline and Tyler "hide" who they really are, but in up finding their true selves, and each other. Tyler works on his own paralyzing truths and finally comes clean and asks for help, which doesn't make him weaker, it makes him stronger.

Wonderfully written and executed.

I picked this book up at the perfect time. I was traveling and I needed something light that I could fly through, and that is exactly what this book is. It was very easy to get into, and once I had gotten into it, it was hard to put down. That being said, there were things about it that wore on my and got on my nerves near the end, the main being the insta love. The insta love was definitely present at the beginning, but it did not bother me until the second half, and once it started bothering me, it didn't stop, and that was what really brought the book down for me. I wasn't totally blown away by this book, but it was an entertaining read.

The cover of Just Pretending brought back some nostalgic feelings. I checked Goodreads and indeed: Just One of the Royals was on my bookshelf already. After reading about Daniel in the previous book, I was happy to see Evangeline getting her own happily ever after. Because after becoming queen at sixteen, she still had to face all the challenges alone. So, when she comes to visit her half-brother Daniel in Chicago to take a break, she wants to enjoy a bit of freedom.
But alas, her mother calls her with the request to show a prince around in Chicago, to solidify the bonds with the neighbouring country. But a crazy mix-up results in Eva showing Tyler around town, and not the prince she is supposed to meet. Tyler doesn't dare to confess to Eva that he was supposed to fill in for Daniel and that he is not the prince, but just one of the hockey players of Daniel's team.
But the more time they spend together, the more Tyler falls head over heels for his friend's little sister. But how can poor Tyler be prince-material? So Tyler gets more and more mixed up in lies and deceit. Will he loose Eva forever, or can he convince her that he sees Eva for who she is and not what she is?
Funny, charming and cute. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Super cute book! I really have a thing for this type of story, and this one was right up there. I really, really just want to take care of Tyler, and I am not sure if that is the mom in me or what, but he is definitely a sympathetic character. Eva is not a snotty brat by any means, but she has a lot to figure out in her life. The tale is playful, with a serious undertone. All in all I enjoyed this story very much. Told in dual pov.

The final book in the Chicago Falcons is a madcap tale of mistaken identity and little white lies with a fairytale twist. Meet Tyler Evans - hockey player, big brother, guy who's afraid that his friends will think less of him if they find out how poor his family is. When Tyler is given this unenviable task of picking up Prince Tyberius at the airport, he never would have guessed that his fairytale crush - Queen Evangeline - would also be there and would subsequently mistake him for the Prince. This chance encounter leads to a series of engineered misunderstandings as Ty and Eva get to know one another. As the story progresses and the lies get more elaborate, Ty will have to make a decision about revealing his true identity at the risk of losing the girl he is falling in love with.

This was a quick romp through teen romance territory. It was fun to see the continuation of the stories from the first two titles in the series unfold as well.

Wow. Entangled delivers again with another sweet, fun and cute teen romance. Honestly they’re perfect for reading besides the pool or curled up on the couch.
I have to admit I’m a real sucker for series where you get ti see the couples from past books, so I loved seeing Tremblay and Al, Sacachelli and Madison.
This romance played out well, with enough heartbreak and heartwarming moments.
There were certainly moments where you wanted to slap them both upside the head, but hey, I guess they’re human too.

Congrats to the author and Entangled on another fun romance.

NB- I received an ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was just too stinkin adorable!! This is the first book I'd read in the Chicago Falcons series, and I know I want to read more. A cute hockey player pretending to be a prince and Queen Eva falls for him!

Thank you so much for this ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

I just couldn't resist that premise: a regular boy pretending to be a prince falls in love with the queen...adorable!

I'll start by saying that I think that because I hadn't read the previous books in the series, I was at a slight disadvantage when it came to the characters. Yes, you can definitely read this as a standalone and not be completely lost. But in the same breath, I think I could have really benefited from reading the other novels in the series, especially the book prior because I think it really sets up Eva's character background a little more. I had so many questions about how she became queen and why she wanted to be queen in the first place and I felt like this book just didn't answer them; mainly because she is already queen and this novel showcases her struggle finding that independence as a result.

I thought the whole plot of this novel was fun yet heartfelt. The fun comes from Tyler impersonating the prince and how he just gets himself deeper and deeper into the scheme. Tyler instantly won my heart the moment we met him. He's just a sweet boy with a massive crush on a girl he thinks he can never be with. But he was also a layered character as well. His learning disability and the struggle he has with it was so genuine and real. I loved watching him grow as the story progressed.

But the touching moments come from the interactions Tyler and Eva share when they let their true selves show when they're together. These two have a great connection with plenty of shared interests to make you fall for them as a couple. I couldn't get enough of their chemistry!

I thought these two were adorable together! I just loved how they meshed on so many different levels. The heart of this story is loving yourself and finding someone who can see the true you beyond titles and I think the romance helps exemplify that throughout.

Just Pretending by Leah and Kate Rooper is the 3rd book in The Chicago Falcons series, and is a sweet, fun, and delightful YA contemporary romance and part of the Entangled Teen Crush series. Tyler Evans loves hockey, but he has a secret or two. Tyler is in love with Queen Evangeline, his team mates half-sibling and he has dyslexia . I love this genre, there is something so innocent about first loves. I love the quirky people and situations in this book, and watching the characters grow. I found this book to be a quick read, and recommend it to all readers who enjoy a YA sweet romance.

I received this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Mistaken identities, royalty, hockey. This book has it all. It was a very cute next book in this series. A sweet, quick YA read. I can't resist a royal love story of sorts. I liked the two points of view and the back and forth between the story.

Leah and Kate Rooper scored a hat trick with the third and last book in the Chicago Falcons series, JUST PRETENDING. This is Evangeline Harwell’s and Tyler Evans’s story. Eva is Daniel Sacachelli’s (from book two, JUST ONE OF THE ROYALS) half-brother and teammate of Tyler. Eva is now the Queen of Eldonia. She is visiting Daniel in Chicago. While there, she mistakes Tyler for the prince of Perienza, as Tyler gets wrapped up in the charade. This hockey romance is suitable for young adults.

JUST PRETENDING is an entertaining and heartfelt read. I like that in each book in the Chicago Falcons series, there was a person pretending to be something else but ending up discovering themselves in the process. I appreciated that Eva and Tyler shared a love of art. The two could relate to one another. While it was not smart that Tyler to pretend to be someone else, it gave him the confidence to get to know Eva.

It is understandable why Tyler lacked confidence. I’m glad that he was put in a situation where he could eventually better himself. I love his little sister. Millie. She is sweet and adds to the story.

I enjoyed the plot. The story has some interesting twists that develop into the perfect ending. I would love to see a spin-off series or a reunion book in the future to discover what happens to the characters. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

I will start off by saying this is the first book in The Chicago Flacons series I have read. If you're looking for a super cute fairy tale story, then this is for you!

With the plot, I did like the fact that we got to see Chicago but also another country all together. I wish the author would have explored these a bit more or focused more on one location. With the art aspect, I really enjoyed that as art is something I also love. Speaking of parts of the story line, I really enjoy that the authors chose to speak about a disability. Disabilities are extremely common in our society and I feel a lot of time in books they are pushed under the rugs. So, I really commend Leah and Kate for willing speaking about a topic in their story.

As far as characters go, my favorite character was Madison. I love how helpful and upbeat she is. She always seems to see the good in every situation. Also, the real Tiberius was hysterical and he was a perfect comic relief. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with our main characters. With Tyler, I thought he was too hard on himself and a bit of a cry-baby. The one thing I really enjoyed about him was how he was with his sister Millie. With Eva she was a bit too "royal" for me and didn't really break down even around Tyler whom she supposedly loves. Then, there's Daniel who I love the over-protected older brother thing, but he took it a bit far for me most times.

Overall, Just Pretending was a super cute read with an ending you know and want coming. I think Kate and Leah Rooper on are their way to creating swoon-worthy contemporaries!

Thank you to Entangled and Netgalley for the copy.

I really enjoyed this book! This was the first book I read by this author, but it won't be the last. Just pretending is technically the third book in The Chicago Falcons series but it definitely can be read as a stand alone. I'm absolutely invested in the characters now and want to go back and read the other two books to get their stories too.
I really loved Eva and Tyler's story. They were perfect for each other and their love story was one that left me with a big smile on my face!

Sweet mistaken identity story. Tyler is the opposite of Eva except for their shared love of art. Love that Tyler's little sister, Millie, was his partner in crime. Some funny moments and heart breaking ones too.

3 1/2 stars

Just Pretending is the second novel I've read by Leah and Kate Rooper, and they definitely know how to write for the YA audience.

Tyler was by far my favorite character in the novel. He has been battling dyslexia for years and has somehow fooled the system, mostly because he was afraid of showing his vulnerability. But he's a nice guy, a kind guy. He looks out for his father and his little sister, who is just adorable, by the way. Except this all comes to a head in a most devastating way when he says that he has a trash life...but it's not true. How can he when he has a great dad and sister?

While I liked the romance between Eva and Tyler, enjoyed their artist trysts, the most meaningful part for me was when Tyler had to come clean to his father about his dyslexia. The interaction between son and father was very well done. While I know that won't be what a lot of readers find important, it was for me. It was worth every single "I love you" between Eva and Tyler.

This is a sweet royal romance for those who like YA romances.
