As a writer and creator, I wanted this book to live up to its title, offering insight and clarity on making a life and a living through taking it slow. Unfortunately, it's more of a coffee-table book, offering a page-a-thought dose of poetry, inspiration and/or stunning photography. Which I would have loved, had the title shifted to better explain the contents and focus.

Fascinating insight into an artist’s inspiration and what they can teach us all about being creative. Not my usual choice of book, but really enjoyed it.
Thanks for the opportunity to read and review.

Hmm. I've never been a fan of coffee-table books: however, this one has some interesting snippets in it. Made up of quotes, notes, photos and musings it addresses, sometimes obliquely, the learnings of one who has spent a long time creating.

I did find some of the photographs to arrest my attention - but I was really hoping for the promise in the title to be fulfilled: using creativity to make a life. Was it? Partly... some of the quotes about the creative process were beautifully expressed and spot on in a,well, very artistic way.

But I was hoping for more text, perhaps some practical points pulled out and what I got really was a coffee table book that teased me withe a few deep insights but also annoyed me with 'on the road' stories that might have sounded good to a practising musician but didn't feel very relevant to an inventor and writer like myself.

Perhaps the inner philistine didn't bother to appreciate the art but ultimately I would have been happy for someone to buy me this book - but I wouldn't have bought it myself.
