Wow! This is my first book in this series and I just loved it. I will be going back to read more.

I loved the setting and the characters. Casey and Eric make such a great team.

I especially enjoy the vivid Yukon imagery and well developed characters. This one makes me want to travel to Dawson City, mine for some gold, enjoy the scenery and walk on the wooden sidewalks. I want to be friends with the people in this town. I want to be a part of their world.

In the small, secret little town of Rockton, Casey Duncan is the lone detective and is now in the hard position of identifying how crime has found its way to this dot on the map.

I want to thank NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this fun, thrilling series. Before reading this book, I decided to find the earlier books in the series and give them a try. I am so glad that I did. It's a fantastic series that keeps you on your toes. I have loved every minute of it.

I am also glad that I read the other's first, because this book would be difficult to read as a stand alone. It picks up almost immediately after the events of the previous book in the series and doesn't waste much time on giving background. Someone new to the series would be lost if they started with this book. But by all means, read the others first. You won't regret it.

Detective Casey Ducan and the small police force of Rockton have been busy with a crime in the small town. Who knew when an outsider came to town this would start more trouble. The outsider US Marshall is later found dead, but Casey has no viable suspects in town. Can Casey solve this murder before harm finds anyone else?

This is the fourth book in the series but my first. This book can be enjoyed as a stand-alone mystery, however, character backstories may be confusing. This is an entertaining book with plenty of twists and suspense. The characters are flawed but interesting. This book is well-plotted and will keep you on your seat.

I voluntarily agreed to read a copy of this book supplied by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own and in no way have been influenced by anyone.

Casey leads you through this one on a journey that will have tons of suspense and mystery. Before you know it there is a murder also. The pace is fast at times but actually has its own pace for when and what it needs. The author has a good formula in here. She will also know how to cause you to race at times too. She does know how to handle crime fiction as the contents of this one. As the pieces go in one by one you can not let go until the answers are fed to you.

Thank you to the author Kelley Armstrong, the publisher St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for giving me an ARC in exchange for my candid review.

What a fascinating concept for a series of books. A town, totally off-grid hidden in the middle of the Canadian wilderness that is a hiding place for people who need to disappear, some for good reasons, and some for not-so-good reasons. And of course, even this town needs a bad-ass sheriff and his crew.

This is book #4 in this series.....while it was good as a stand alone, I wish that I had started out with book one since their are some story threads that will no longer be a surprise. But, still a suspenseful, fascinating book about some butt-kicking, awesome detectives in a rip-roaring town filled with fascinating characters----are they good or are they bad? Who knows? Maybe we'll find out one day! And, of course, they always get their bad guy.

If you like exciting action and psychological thrillers---you will love this series!

In this fourth in the series, an injured law enforcement member (one of very few in the remote and hidden town of Rockton) sets off the action. Casey, the only detective, has an estranged sister who is a doctor and has her own reasons for wanting to escape her life for a while, so Rockton gains a new temporary resident. Shortly thereafter, a U.S. Marshall shows up but is killed before Casey is able to determine whom he is hunting. The backstory of Rockton, which is full of both warehoused criminals and those who need to escape a normally social life, plays prominently in the book but is well enough explained for even those new to the series to understand.

As always, Armstrong's writing is readers feel as though they've been for a visit. Although this is definitely a suspenseful series, it also contains a fair bit of romance, so it is balanced between plot and character. After book 3, I thought she was headed in a different direction in the series, so I was surprised by some of the events. I'm interested to find out where she goes with the new characters she has introduced.

I am a huge fan of Kelley Armstrong and there isn’t much she’s written that I haven’t read. Watcher in the Woods is the fourth novel in the Rockton series and it’s amazing! I love the characters and the secretive world she’s created. Casey Duncan is the main character, an amazing detective starting to come into her own but all the characters in this series are richly portrayed and the plot in this series! My goodness, the plot! Everyone in Rockton is hiding a secret (or ten) hence the need for Rockton, why else live off the grid? Watcher in the Woods follows This Fallen Prey almost to the minute, it’s not one of those series that you can jump in any time. You really need to start with the first book, City of the Lost and continue on. I don’t think any suspense reader, especially an Armstrong fan, will regret getting lost in this series.

I love all of Kelley Armstrong's books this one is absolutely fabulous, and this is my favourite series of hers. Cannot recommend it highly enough. I'd give it 10 stars if I could.

I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This has been sitting on my shelf for awhile, but I wanted to read the first three books in the series first.

I liked this. Casey and Eric are likable characters and the storyline kept my interest. And kept me guessing.

I did not realize that this was part of a series until I looked up the book that comes after this title. Only then did I notice that it was book four in a series. That did not stop me from enjoying the story and I was easily able to follow along with back stories, as they were well explained.

Rockton is a town where people go to hide. Literally. This place is off the grid and houses protected witnesses and white collar criminals. People who have someone after them and have no other options available, but to disappear.

Casey knows that it's a hard living where they are. Especially when that life brings her to her estranged sister asking for help. Help that is badly needed from a person who could care less to give it or that's the impression Casey gets from her.

Things take a turn for the worse when a Marshal shows up and then is subsequently murdered. Bringing suspicion down on the whole town, a town where everyone has something to hide.

A thrilling and engaging story that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Rockton is a little known town in the Yukon area of Canada. Casey Duncan is the only female detective in a team of three. She's only lived there for a few months, but she's already seen more crime than anywhere else she's been.

A stranger appears in town claiming he is a US Marshall looking for one of their residents... but won't give her a name. She and her boyfriend, Sheriff Eric Dalton, are highly suspicious of him and his claim, but when he's shot and killed, they start taking a closer look.

Since most of Rockton's residents are criminals or victims fleeing or disappearing from society looking for a safe refuge from all their secrets, the number of possible suspects are countless.

This may be closer to personal for Casey, as her sister is also a resident.

Although 4th in this unique story, it is easily read as a stand-alone. As usual, I highly recommend starting at the very beginning. The residents .. and their stories ... are well worth reading about. The characters are memorable. This one is a real page turner.

Many thanks to the author / St. Martin's Press - Minotaur Books / Netgalley for the digital copy of this distinctive crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, the opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Review:
I should have looked into things I hadn’t realized this was BOOK 4 in a series. I just saw Kelley Armstrong and hit request. I enjoyed it and have started it. I read this awhile ago. It is long enough I cannot remember and I am not 100% sure if I’ve already done a review on this book. As I moved from Blogger to WordPress .. anyway,

I checked out the first of this series from my library so I can get a more fuller review.. .with more substance. But I’m also trying to empty my NetGalley Queue I’m in school right now.. so trying to rid of loose ends while doing that.. plus, this gives me a great excuse to take a break from schooling.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed every book series from Kelley Armstrong. My current obsession really is her Cainsville books. She finished the series in five books. But she also has short stories. But this is my new one.

Downloaded from Netgalley thanks to publisher .. in exchange for an honest and messy review. Cheers!

Watcher in the Woods was an interesting read due to its complex characters, relationships, and a very unique setting. I particularly enjoyed the relationship between Casey and her sister---they prove that people can know each other their entire lives and still not truly understand them. Overall, a quick read.

I received this ebook free from NetGalley for an honest review and was not aware it was the 4th in a series. Having not read the first 3, I was afraid I would be lost. While I may have missed out on some things I was able to figure out a lot and found the book a great read. I have since found the first book in my library and am now reading it. Watcher in the Woods is a fast paced mystery with action, romance, and thrills. The characters are varied, some good, some bad, but all interesting and well developed. I liked the fact that the women were all strong and not afraid to step forward. I look forward to reading the whole series.

Last year I applied for this book but once again didn’t realise it was the fourth book in the series or maybe I did and I just needed a reason to buy books one to three. LOL all excuses I tell ya.

This whole series is unique and I loved every single moment of it. Be it Eric, Will, Casey and especially Jacob.

I love me some Kelley Armstrong and this book was a great read. It is part of a series but could be read as a stand alone but you wont get to enjoy all the background character development that builds when you start at the beginning.

I love following the story of Casey Duncan, her boyfriend and boss Dalton, their partner Will, and all of the residents of the secluded civilization of Rockton. Casey is a kick butt female protagonist and I will never get tired of reading about her story. I will continue to read this series as long as Kelley Armstrong will write them (hopefully for a while)!
