Janis Powers' "Health Care" is a rather informative, well written book. It's full of facts on the healthcare industry of America that I found rather interesting. It's definitely a good read.

This is a book of good ideas regarding health care and reform. There are a lot of good points, but some considerations are missing from the discussion. It would be nice to have more perspectives in the discussion.

Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a provocative, well written book. I work in a large health insurance firm so many of the issues like too many visits to the emergency room raising Healthcare cost is true. the author does a good job explaining the current and past trends that led to near disaster we have today with no resolution from congress in sight. The authors proposal that we pay our Healthcare like we pay taxes could be a good one but we already pay for so much. And this still doesn't guarantee the quality of care we'll receive.
Excellent clear ideas and data.

Health Care: Meet the American Dream by Janis Powers is a great read for anyone with an interest in health care. Since healthcare is one of the most contentious issues in recent years I hope this book finds a large audience.

The United States has a very complicated system which has the highest costs in the world but relatively poor outcomes. Clearly major changes are needed.

I thank Netgalley for the privilege of reading an ARC of this book.

The book clearly explains the current complex system and its problems in the first half. The author explains the historical developments behind many of the aspects of our existing healthcare system. Difficult concepts are explained in a readable way. Problems are clearly identified and explained. Extensive notes justifying conclusions are provided.

In the second part of the book, the author proposes a new system. Making minor changes to existing systems will not do the job. Again, extensive notes are provided.

There are major problems with the current system. You may agree with some ideas but perhaps not all. But these ideas are clearly important points in any discussion of improving how we do healthcare in this country.

For a book that covers many important ideas, it is surprising brief. The print version is 224 pages. The author has done a wonderful job in explaining complicated, often highly technical, ideas clearly and concisely.

I like the author’s data-driven approach to this problem. I’d highly recommend this book to anyone interested in improving the American health care system.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for allowing me to read this book for my honest opinion. I would also like to thank the author for the opportunity to read this book.
I have read numerous books and articles about health care while achieving my masters degree in Healthcare Administration and I truly wish that I would have had this book for some of my research.
The author spoke to you in layman's terms and not in the mumbo jumbo that you could not understand. That terminology is a lot of the reason that people give up on trying to figure out what is going on with the system. Society wants to know what is going on but they don't comprehend the verbiage. We needed someone to speak to us on our level. I am not necessarily saying to "dumb it down" per se but just talk to us like we are human beings.
I will be purchasing this book for my own personal library. I want to have this has a book that I can hold in my hands. Thank you for this great investigative, researched and respected find.

Author does well to explain a confusing and convoluted system, offering suggestions for improvements that do make sense to a degree. Not being among the target audience, I’ll admit the book was a little bewildering in places but was informative on the whole.

This was an ARC in exchange for an honest review. With thanks to Netgalley and Greenleaf Book Group.

The author provided facts on her stance with this issue, but also took the unique position of offering solutions on how we can improve Health Care in our Country. A great and informative read, despite which side of this issue you fall on.
